Yes absolutely do the live stream for the one skeleton show.
I agree, I would love that so much!
Just started watching your videos. I don't know anything from anything about animatronics. Your videos are really inspiring! Thank you for taking the time to make and share them on top of all your awesome projects!
Yes a live build would be amazing!
I want to build one of these for next year. I would do Patreon, RUclips, whatever you decide. Thanks for everything so far!
YESSS PLEASSSEEE on the live stream!!! Patreon: Can you try out the Picaboo jr (or something like it) on one of your skeletons, I would love to see you do a tutorial using that..
Definitely do the livestream!!! I ordered all the parts for the skeletons and they are in their way! I also think it would be neat if you were to show something using pneumatics or really any other moters in the same style tutorial video as the skeletons.
Yes livestream!! Thanks for the inspiration!
Glad to see you are still active. Your videos taught me a lot. Thank you🙏
Update to the Update video :)
1) I've launched a Patreon page! You can find it at patreon.com/CatsMenagerie
Having this will really help the channel out and it's a great place to connect with you all and share a variety of content. I've already added two videos and I'm looking forward to sharing more! :D
2) I'm going to try to make that skeleton live stream happen this summer. It's going to be a lot of work, but I think it's going to be a lot of fun too!! I want to do a practice live stream before hand to get familiar with how that works on RUclips, so I'll let you guys know when and what I plan on doing for that practice stream. All these streams will be held live on RUclips and then I'll post the recordings afterwards so that people can watch them anytime.
Thank you all so much for being here and for supporting my work and I'll see you soon in the GateKeeper I/O video :)
Thanks for the information. I look forward to the video! I had, as well, sent an email to you with a bit more information on what i have made and what I wish to do. Thanks again.
Jon
Such awesome and fun projects!!!
After watching some of your videos I almost tried my hand at an animatronic skeleton this year, but since I use a Mac I wasn't sure I could follow your setup. Also, the software you were using didn't look very user friendly. If you're looking to make some money you might consider tutorials on how to build the skeletons (what hardware to get etc), and then sell some software that would allow a novice to easily control and program it. Though then again, that market may be very very tiny, I'm not a business person so take this with a grain of salt.
Way to go Cat!!!! You're making a name for your self!
Yes please ! YES!!!!!!
Congratulations on the theme park gig! I haven't gotten around to working in animatronics into my puppet making yet but I'm glad to have this page for reference when I do. And yes, do the live stream if you feel comfortable with it! (or if you start the Patreon, make it a reward)
Livestream...Yes please!
Nice job! Halloween was a wash for me this year. Good to see you back at it and props for making lemonade out of lemons for Halloween 2020! Nice work there.
The live stream sounds like a great!
Another thing I would be interested in would be preset routines etc so that you can just leave a piece running and have it react to something like a PIR sensor
OMG I’m so happy for you!!! Thats so amazing that you actually design a show for a big client!! Yes I rly want a live stream. I will 100% join your patron page! Rain sucks on Halloween. I had rain too last year, and thankfully it wasn’t super windy so I could do it in my garage. I’m so sorry for your loss of show time. I really look forward to seeing it next year!! Also I would love to reach out to you and chat someday over email or zoom. You inspire me so much! Keep doing what you do!!

Hi, fantastic stuff. What/How/Where are using to code the software for the arm controllers that is able to use the logitech joystick? Are you still using the Lifeape software?
Thanks
Jon
Thanks! For the show that the skeletons do, I used TrackSkull + VSA. First, I would record each skeletons’ head and jaw movements and then I would go back and record the arm. I assigned each axis on the joystick to each of the three servos on the arm and recorded it just like you would any other movement on the character.
For the ability to do live audience interaction, I wrote that controller software (@1:16) using Python. For controlling the arm, I wrote a little helper program (also Python) that allowed me to record different arm movements so that I could then map those recordings to the side buttons on the joystick in the main controller software. That way, the performer could control the head with the joystick motion, the jaw with the trigger button, and the arm with the side buttons all at the same time.
I’m going to make a more detailed video about the whole project soon!
Oops! See above post. -jon
