The worst part about DIY robots is that the programming does not account for user error, so RUclips is replete with videos of Robi falling over or burning out -- I've seen a video where smoke came out of his arm during a dance, and then he basically died. 18 x $80 = $1440 too much for something that does not function as intended.
The movements in that thing are AWESOME!!! My question is wether the voice is actually coming from the bot, or is someone reading lines off-camera? The sound seems too clear to be coming from the bot.

Four days ago you said "It is very well done but it is fake", and now?!! What you are seeing at 0:40- is the change from struggling to walk to dancing with both feet on the ground. Robots are shown dancing and doing karate moves because making them walk smoothly is difficult especially when the software is is ZMP based or written as if the robot was a screen animation.

Nothing is self aware that is based on computer programming or ever well be, the ingrediates are anti-thetical to sentience, no matter how much more of the ingrediates you throw into the design or how complicated it becomes, though one day it might get complicated enough to fool a lot of people into thinking it is. Many think it will be possible one day, especially atheists because they have a inferior definition of sentience based on doing things rather then being and awareness, and its why we have not produced any true sentient artificial intelligence to this day, and if we throw billions and billions of more dollars at it, if that funding is for making a self aware being, those dollars will be better off spent or used as toilet paper, though said computers might be very very useful for many things. Though to be honest that toy is, really cool. >_< I want buy one for my niece.
