- When Colby Donaldson first tackled the game of Survivor back in season two, he dominated the challenges and quickly became America's favorite player. When his third attempt to play the game arrived in Survivor: Heroes Vs. Villains, Colby was a very different player. He seemed miserable to be on the shores of Samoa, performed poorly in challenges and didn't show any strategy. In an exclusive interview, Colby talked with RealityTVMagazine's Ryan Haidet on the red carpet immediately following the live reunion show in New York City where he labeled this season of Survivor one of the worst experiences of his life.

With Colby, Survivor isn't "a game" for him, it's an adventure. He wanted to explore and just have fun. He didn't have fun because people were playing the game. They only wanted to strategize and not really do anything for adventure. Me, personally, Survivor is a game and it's hard to "have fun". Even Sandra said in her interview in RHAP, she had more fun winning her first time than her second because the people were nice and cordial both on the island and at the reunion show. She had fun her first time and was miserable her second time, she was just able to tolerate it.

Back in season 2 the concept of being deserted on an island was played up a lot more. But this season was all about strategy and gameplay and Colby just wanted to be stranded on an island with strangers lol
There was a perfect opportunity (almost poetic) when James left, for Colby to emerge as a hero out of retirement and kick everyone's ass. It was tee'd up for him (storyline wise). He had it in final 5, he just stopped giving a crap. If colby had come and taken down the villains, destroying Russell, it would have made this season one of the best seasons in Reality TV history, at least in my oppinion. Just never happend cuz this is real life, and heroes arent really heroes sometimes.
Colby is true in his comment about Russell. He should return and give himself some redemption for his poor performance
I don't think he meant these things about how it was terrible experience. He was probably having a bad day. Jeff Probst wrote on Entertainment Weekly's blog that he could tell that he seemed different that night. One of my high school teachers was acquaintances with Colby and she said that he is a nice guy. Colby during his final extended final words that he was glad that he came back and enjoyed his time.
Colby didn't like what the show had become, he's always been a laid back honest guy. He doesn't do the whole cutthroat thing. He is still a badass. 25 seasons later & he STILL has the record for most Immunity challenges & individual challenges in a season.

Oh please, he is probably one of the most aggressive player ever. He just wasn't smart enough to know who is his biggest threat and often times get outsmarted by other player. Taking Tina to the final, dumb. Saying Shii Ann game sucks and he is better but ending up him becoming the 2nd player to get voted out from his tribe and Shii Ann ended up being the last remaining person from his tribe. Then he would went on to be rude to multiple people on the HvV including Jeff Probst, the producer of the show. How much more dumb you can be. Colby is so full of himself. He needs to humble himself first then only he can win. Even somebody like Sandra & Boston Rob isn't as aggressive as Colby. They knew when to be aggressive and when to tone down and that what makes them dangerous. Colby just like the title of being the biggest jerk. Lol.
PS : Much as I don't like him. I love the fact how he is ripping Russel into pieces. I have a feeling Russel is scared of him too. Lol. Which I love, Russel is such a bully.
I've watched all the video's so far, and it seem like they all are upset with how much screentime russell got. Which, thb, is really fair - it was all the russell show(which is great) but i don't remember once seeing an interview of candice or danielle. Not enough Parvati or Courtney.
Colby is one of the most positive players of Survivor! Although he underperformed in Season 20, if the Final Five was still Colby, Jerri, Parvati, Russell, and Sandra but if Colby advanced to the Final Three, he would have played 100 days total and would have won Season 20.

His mistake in this season was not warning J.T. against giving his idol to Russell. He should have told J.T. not to be stupid. Everything went downhill from there. Amanda and Candice also did not want to warn J.T. against it because they thought it was a good thing to get rid of the idol. They were also stupid to not stop him. They destroyed the tribe of Heroes together.

No not really, Colby out muscled him in several challenges prior, plus he proved he had more stamina in the challenge with the pales of water on the bamboo. They would of went into the merge with equal #'s & Jeff would still of went out due to having a prior vote against him, then Colby's alliance would of picked off Michael next. Colby would of beaten Mike.
The thing I don't get about survivor is they have paramount plus now why don't they utilize it and make two episodes a week One that gets released on TV that's 42 minutes long and then one that gets released on Paramount plus that's like an hour and a half long 2 hours long not only would it fix the problem that many people are talking about it would encourage a lot of people to get paramount plus during survivor season I would at least get a during survivor season for extra content like that it's so worth the $10 a month
Watching interviews it's clear former Survivors don't like how Russell has made the game so much more aggressive and in your face. I'm surprised so many are upset about how much air time Russell gets.
Producers have to show him though, he's great TV. Gets people talking about the show.

Most bitter jury member in history of Survivor. Danmm Russell made them all look real bad !
