Jeor Mormont didn’t pull out his sword when Craster was killed. He didn’t pull it out until Carl held a knife to one of the girls. He was trying to save her. Mormont was a great, honorable commander who was a mentor to Jon Snow. I don’t think he deserved to be stabbed in the back like that.

Interesting, I never noticed that. I always assumed he reacted that way because they had killed Craster while they were guests under his roof, which is one of the greatest offenses one can commit in Westeros, regardless of how scummy your host is.

Y'all have the wrong idea about Margery: she's not a sociopath, she's not evil, she's just playing the game of thrones, playing to win. And she's MASTERFUL.
Last episode, She and her grandmother ask Sansa about Joffrey's true nature NOT because they want to rat her out, but because they want to know how to manipulate Joffrey. So Margery finds out he's a monster, then she puts on her "monster face" when she interacts with him to earn his trust (the crossbow scene), in order to manipulate him.
This episode, she listens to his gleeful sociopathic description of what happened in the past, then channels him into "showing his love to the common people." She's power-hungry, sure, but she's also manipulating Joffrey in positive directions.
And then she's super kind and friendly with Sansa: "would you like to get out of here, and marry this handsome guy (you're crushing on), Loras?" Again it's manipulative, and securing power for her house, but it's taking Sansa's best interests into consideration as well.
I think y'all made up your mind super early that Margery and Olenna (the grandmother) were evil schemers, but I emphatically disagree!

Lady Margery and Lady Olenna are literally some of my favorites of this entire series. How both play the Game of Thrones is 100% respected and understood. You have to think about Margery's situation from her viewpoint. She and Joffrey are about to be married. She will marry a teenager known to be cruel and sadistic. In her eyes, she has no choice but to win him over for the sake of her life. Let's be honest a little bit... if she showed disinterest in Joffrey for whatever reason etc... do you think Joffrey would be good to her? I am happy Margery is in this position instead of Sansa because Margery was born to be a Queen. House Tyrell is honorable.

Sansa is too young ans naive to understand how to play the game, but Margeary is incredibly smart. She has Joffrey completely wrapped around her finger. She knows exactly what to do to make him like her and respect her. Notice he can't play with her the way he played with Sansa. Both Margeary and Lady Olena are very good at the game, and they do it better than the Lannisters. They gained the respect and love of the people by being kind and seeming genuine. I do believe she feels bad for Sansa and her friendship towards her is genuine.

Ros clearly said Pod was of *average* "slong" size. She said something to the effect of "no larger than normal." They leave it to the viewer's imagination beyond that. My guess is that Podrick was attentive, sincere, and focused on their pleasure as much or more than his own, all with the enthusiasm and stamina of a virgin teenage boy. That's something few women in that, or this, world experience...especially professionals, like them.
If you were to be listening closely to Joffrey and Margaery's conversation when he was showing her around Baelor's Sept, you would have heard a huge, *gigantic,* *MONUMENTAL* spoiler for the ending of HBO's new hit sequel series House of the Dragon...so forget what you think you might have heard. 😉
My brothers, not for nothing, but I think you both are gonna find that you are reading both Cercei and Margaery wrong. Yes, Cersei loves her children, but otherwise, she's a total power-hungry psychopath. And you're reading Lady Olenna wrong, who, for the record, is Margaery's grandmother, not her mother. She is Marjorie's father's mother.
Also, for the record, Margaery and Joffrey are both 16 years old at this point in the show. All the children in the story are at least a few years older in the show than in the books.
Margaery and Lady Olenna are scheming to marry Sansa to Loras for two reasons: One is to save Sansa and foul Middlefinger's plan to marry her and secure the North for himself. The other is to secure the North for House Tyrell; it would easily make them the most powerful House in Westeros.
The Brotherhood Without Banners, who Arya's with, are *not* affiliated or connected to Stannis. Their leader, with the eyepatch, is Ser Baric Dondarrion. You probably don't remember him from season one; most people don't. He is the knight in season one when Robert went out boar hunting, and Ned was sitting on the throne. They were discussing The Mountain plundering, pillaging, and murdering his way through the Riverlands. Ned chose Ser Baric to assemble a hundred men, which included Thoros of Myr, the red priest who is with him, and hunt down The Mountain. But Ser Baric was recast, and his character has been a world of shit since then. Thoros of Myr, however, *is* of the same religion as Melisandre. But that's the only connection to Stannis.

Just a point of clarification, the Brotherhood Without Banners is not allied with Stannis. They came to worship the Lord of Light independently of Melisandre’s influence, and do not take anyone’s side in the war. Think of them as Robin Hood and the Merry Men. They will fight anyone who preys on the innocent, be they Starks, Lannisters, or Baratheons.

So the people who have Arya right now.... they have no association with Stannis. They are a group called the Brotherhood without Banners and they don't owe loyalty to any house. You're correct they serve the same God as the Red Woman, but they do have honorable intentions. Some of their methods may come off harsh in this world but they do have an end goal in mind which will become clearer as the show progresses.
Also-- the Tyrells just made a double play.... by marrying Sansa to Loras, they now have the key to the North instead of Littlefinger and they get Sansa out of a sticky situation. So while they are helping themselves, they are also trying to protect Sansa by getting her out of King's Landing.

You might have already caught this from rewatches for editing and then when you see this episode it clicks in your memory, but you both talked about how great it was that Dany knew everything he was saying, if you go back and rewatch the last couple episodes with her talking to him, nearly every time he says something foul about her they actually show her face in reaction and you can tell she's understanding him but just choosing to compose herself. When you're first watching it it either slips past you or you just assume she's reading his tone of voice or maybe she's just putting on a serious face, but I always enjoy when I'm rewatching seeing Dany glare at him from the corner like "no you know what, call me a wh*re one more time". It's so satisfying. Truly cathartic. Really well shot, in my opinion anyway. Nobody ever noticed the shots of her reactions when they first see it, but when you rewatch it you can't miss it. Just subtle enough to get it's job done and not be too obvious, yet fully present enough that in rewatches it's just *chef kiss*

I love Margery so much because she’s smart and she IS manipulative and she DOES want power… but she doesn’t want to trample all over innocents to get there. I never saw her as evil - she wants to get her way in as positive a way as she can, and she’s usually smart enough to do so 🙌

Margeary IS playing, but she’s playing Joffrey. She’s playing him for a fool. And at least under her rule the people don’t suffer, regardless whether her intention is sincere or not. She’s just smart at playing the game.

No, you guys are so wrong about Mormont. He was great commander, mentor and true father figure for Jon at the wall (He gave him Longclaw and was teaching him and preparing him to one day take command). And no matter how horrible man Craster was, the men of the night watch broke the guest right, the sacred hospitality rule in Westeros, and killed someone who offered them food and place under their roof. But I can understand. But I can also understand, the show goes through the events very quickly. If you've never read the book you really need to watch carefully and pay attention otherwise it's easy to misinterpret a character or a scene.

Fuck Mormont?? You lost a little respect here :( Always very quick to judge. And why do you hate Margery? Yes, she's powerhungry but she plays Joffrey like a fiddle. And the plot to marry Sansa to Loras is the solution Olenna and Varys talked about minutes before (so Littlefinger doesn't get his slimy hands on her).

My theory about Pod is - one, he is kind, enthusiastic and probably approached the ladies with genuine care and respect. Something not seen a lot in this and their world.
As another "servant", he was a change of pace for them.
Two, in their world of being manipulated by Baelish for information and with constant "powerful & connected" but needy men, this was a way of subtly digging and getting into Tyrion (& others head) by keeping control of a situation.
I mean even if you are with someone like Tyrion who isnt rough or sadistic, you are still dealing with an entitled drunk who wants his own pleasure. No doubt never lets you forget you are a whore & not as smart as he is. If his first night with Shae and times with Ros are an indication.
I think a big part was the ladies seeing a chance to play a harmless little mind game on one of their old clients (Tyrion). Give them something to laugh about.
Its not like they have cable.

Imagine from the perspective of the ladies at the brothel. They are used to gross men daily. Then here comes Pod who is actually a really nice dude. They probably didn't have to act like they liked him.

    • @theConquerersMama
      @theConquerersMama 10 месяцев назад

      Right?
Also knowing it will get back to Tyrion and Baelish. It probably felt like a fun way to get in their heads for a change. A way to have a modicum of power in their situation at no real cost to them.

Last episode : "we knew theon was gonna get out, just didn't think it was gonna be that easy".
It's GoT. Try that guy mindfcked Theon with a fake escape cause he was Theon's captor all along.
Last episode : "I can already tell sam is bout to eff craster up...or maybe not. But he's a old man. one of you guys just eff him up"
That's the thing with breaking chain of command and directly disobeying the leader. It doesn't just stay limited to killing bad people like Crastor. It often turns into a full scale revolt.

I feel they are missing the point of Margaery and Tyrells.
A noble house needs to show and be powerfull. Otherwise another house will try to swift and take over.
Sadly a part of the story was remove, specially why Tyrells joing Renly... but anyway ... The tyrells side with Renly which was considered traitor, so the tyrells were also considered traitors. After renly died, the tyrells need to be in good side with Lannisters and Joffrey. So thats why they help! in exchange Margaery would marry Joffrey. Not only this would clean tyrells name, but also would clean Margaery.
Margaery knows that Joffrey is a psychopath, so she needs to please him. She also needs to make him feel interested in her... otherwise the marriage could not happen. Is Margaery like him? We do not know... till now nothing was show to us, that Margaery is anything close like him. We all saw, that she is ambitious and knows how to manipulate. But that doesnt mean she is a bad person... so, im not sure why they are calling her sociopath!
Every house is playing a game, and everyone is a player or a pawn. Even Ned was playing a game, which sadly we was not a good player! Margaery is playing a game... and till now she is a far superior player then Ned or even Cersei! House tyrell is playing a game for the throne! and they are playing one of the most dangerous games! Webbing the lions around their thorns!

      Well said.
Some respect for people who did not read the books and are genuinely watching for the first time. It's easy to forget what first impressions many characters made later. How confusing it was and how with everybody being shades of gray, it was hard to know who and what to root for.
They changed their take on Khal Drogo/Manoa.
