    the worst part about this show was how they treated the women around each other, hated their moms, hated their daughters, hated Anjana's ex husband's new girlfriend who literally the nicest character on the whole show. Only Bani's character was decent.

      Urmi This. What you said is on point. Feminism has become much maligned simply because people don’t understand what it actually stands for.
      I also feel the reason feminism and individualism are conflated is that feminism promotes female individuality and creates a space for expression of the female experiences. The moment we are able to discern when to delink the two, all of this dragging of the feminist values will stop.

I don't know what kind of feminists they want to bring out with this series. Why do we have to find messages and if somehow we end up doing that, why there is this need to analyse it to the core. Infact to some extent , the stories in a certain way do reflect the contemporary urban society that is still finding a way to understand the transitional morality of things. I am a girl and I just completed watching the entire series including the new one...... Here's my opinion to all educated girls - Do not get ideas by watching this 😆 This series is sooo messed up.... Each and every girl's lives have so many twists and turns that they act like they're confused and don't know how to deal with it.... In a way, most of the younger generation girls who are in their early 20s are as messed up as shown in this series.... But clearly, for the matured audience who have a clear and straight forward approach, you'll be like WTF!! 😂 Trust me, there are so many WTF moments in this series, and the third season toh woh khud hi bolte hai hum fcked up hai and they celebrate it!! I mean WTF!! 😂😂😂 The writer dint put any effort in writing something that could make them look good....But yes, he put a lot of efforts in finding a solution via sex.... And ooohh yes, what's with their baggy sleeves wala dressing? Aise kapde SOBO wale bhi nahi pehente yaar... Kuch zyada hi over kar diya 😂😂 I think the writer/director and everyone involved into making this have forgotten that these girls are still in India....And no matter how modern or moved on a girl is, she is still an Indian at heart...She still have her core values in her that stops her from getting carried away easily..... Itna bhi modern nahi hui yaar society apni....Idk what more to say, watch it for fun/timepass but dont get influenced....

    @saraswatigarigipati7548 4 года назад +70

    Let me preface what I am about to say with a mandatory "I did not like the show either".
    Open marriages exist. Yes, maybe less within the framework of middle class values, and I am not sure how common they are in India as a whole, but they are a reality. Husband and wife tell each other that they are each free to pursue other partners, so outside relationships are consensual. Then why get married? One might ask. Don't ask, I don't know either :D But I do know it's a thing. So Anjana may have gotten herself into a messy situation, but she was lied to.
    Damini technically did not do anything wrong because she had gotten pregnant just 2 weeks before getting with Jeh. It was a messy situation to be in, but she never told Dr. Warsi she did not want him parenting the child. She only told him there was no pressure. Which was fair. Coparenting is still a Western concept, as we believe in traditionally giving a child a stable home, but again, it's a thing. Divorced people coparent all the time. Messy, but not immoral situation.
    Siddhi's breakup with Amit was quite mean. Both of them should have made it clear early on where they stood, friends with benefits or dating? So that no one was hurt. But they didn't. Now I do not remember where Siddhi shamed Amit for his penis size, and it's definitely mean, but the rest of it was her lack of sexual satisfaction. Just because Amit had helped her with growing her confidence, does not mean she owes him a relationship. That's a bitter pill to swallow, but it's the truth. She did, however, owe him honesty.
    Feminism is for everyone, and an elevated financial status does not devalue your right to tell your story. The problem with this show is that first world problems are not for everyone. Saying "this isn't feminism" is incorrect and patronizing.

Does it mention anything that this show is about promoting women empowerment or feminism? Girls in India can't relate(not even me) to this because none of us are living life on our own terms. We always worry about our patriarchal society before doing anything. That people are going to judge us. That's what we are doing with the makers and cast of this series. So this show is basically telling the audience that women can do whatever the f they want. They can cheat and hurt their loyal partner and get pregnant with any other guy. And it's labelled as empowerment? Wtf is wrong with people doing such things in the name of modernity.

      @EMPEROR OF MISOGYNY yes. People get what they start. Men has let down woman , tagging them a second class citizen coz they were home makers and took all the credit alone for running society, these kind of complaints were coming only from woman, but when it come from men, its equally sad, but we can see how it feel if it done to anyone, unbiased of gender. My comment needs a broad mind to understand, not a male chauvinist brain. Let it be, you wont get it

The thing is it becomes cringe when people trg too hard to be cool. People don't understand to be cool you don't have to try hard, you just have to be yourself, confident jn yourself and able to think for yourself.
