I have always had HUGE respect for the cast of Riverdale because they endured shitty writing and sex fantasies of the show runner for 6-7 seasons and turned up every year with a smiling face, except Lili Reinhart, she accepted defeat by 3rd or 4th season ans constantly joked about her character being killed off so that she doesn't return next season.
Same and writers and directors also cuz I absolutely hated riverdale

Archies was telecasted on Cartoon Network a couple of decades ago, though not popular among Indian kids, but those cartoon characters had better acting than this real cast. 😂

Archies is so disconnected from Indian life, especially in the 70s that it literally inspired the late great Pran to create the Chacha Chaudhry and other brilliant characters. Then, someone had the bright idea to bring these characters and stories of 'life in the 60s' to the indian context using actors who literally have no experience of a 'normal' modern life. Slow claps to bante hain
Pran wasn’t great in irl. He would harass a woman I know, who walked past his bungalow everyday.
Ohhh that "Arjun ye dhaai ghanta mere paas wapas nahi aaega(with that accent)" line was hilarious 😂😅😂😂
I went crazy trying to recall what this dialogue was from. Literally went crazy. Then I remembered that it has got something to do with Hrithik. Then I could remember JNND!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Loved all the ZNMD snippets; so on point!! But selfishly, above all - I feel validated to find another person who can work Rohini's tone and accent of "Ye agle mahine nahi aayega" in an everyday conversation!

Znmd itself is a hd version of dil chata hai I'm sorry but I never connected with znmd as I did with dil chahta hai
Let me make a logical guess how this movie came to be. KJo as usual volunteered to make a grand launchpad for the babies, who are so talented, passionate but misunderstood and "hated" by the audience for no reason. But the parents were apprehensive (seeing the "acceptance" the previous Nepo babies launched by him received). Cue Round Table Conf! And voila! Zoya! The only Nepo director/producer who has an ounce of credibility. Either she was basically arm-twisted into staking her whole career and credibility to build an even shinier launchpad while being paid handsomely. Or she chose to do this for the kids who basically grew up in front of her eyes, being a good aunty. Either way sucks for the audience!
Funny thing is that KJo could have actually prepared a better launch pad for nepos, he knows what to do and how to present. (Experience hai na) SRK made a huge mistake, not by choosing Zoya, but by letting Suhana act. She needed a KJo type hyper college to even look decent.

When the movie came out I didn't read or watch any reviews because I didn't want to have an opinion already. Then I tried to watch this film three times just because I like Zoya Akhtar movies. I couldn't watch it past 20 mins.
Anyways, like always nice commentary. And like always, nice use of ZNMD. "Sab kuch likha hua hai" stood out for me. Good luck!

Papa was crying for 3 days as he was missing Sridevi and thinking accha hai ye sab dekhne ke liye woh Zinda nahi hai. Sridevi knew that her daughters are hopeless so she never tried for them. But ye tehri papa ki pariyan. Whenever Sridevi use to cry in any emotional scene it used to make me cry also. The climax scene of movie Suhagan in which she was casted opposite Jeetendra whenever I watch it I cry. Sridevi's daughters should watch her movies. But inhone us Cockroach Johar ko apna idol mana hai toh inke career ka satyanash hone hi wala hai.

Oh man, the kind of rollercoaster I went through watching this movie, not because of the movie but because of the oscillating emotions towards Zoya, from shock to anger to sadness to frustration. Couldn't have captured the angst any better. Sorry about the disappointment re. :(

The review was so to the point. I especially enjoyed the parallels between Suhana and Veronica. What was the point of painstakingly creating the Archies world when they wouldn't make it a murder mystery? 'Save the Tree' story is so generic and so hackneyed that it could have been based on any group of teenagers. Isleye kehte hain ki nakal ke liye bhi akal chahiye.

Great review. I felt that even the music was boht mid despite Shankar Ehsaan Loy composing it. It's like every artist with a distinct voice was doused in strawberry milk and plum cake before they worked on this movie. Maine picture khatam karte hi samosa khaya, do mirchi ke saath.

Basically... when i was watching ur video on jab we net, YT suggestions led me here again. Now in Heeramandi , Sharmin Sehgal speaks in Hindi/Urdu.. speech is OK but her expressions are absent which makes rhe viewing worse as she is the lead character. In Game of Thrones, Kit Harington plays Jon Snow who is central to many scenes but his facial expressions are 💩. In Archies , Suhana and Khushi are just too smug and ridiculous in dialogue delivery.
So... Sharmin (niece of sanjay leela bhansali) s performance is like Jon Snow but set in Heeramandi which is also a power struggle tale like Game of Thrones, and hence that expressionless acting caused me to think that
Sharmin's character Alamzeb is Urdu version of Betty and Veronica in this Archies portray in Hinglish

My take on it was, I literally just wanted to get to the end of it as quickly as possible. I almost didn’t pay attention to much as there really wasn’t any meat in the story. I’ve read the comic books but Reggie would be a villain in the comic and always got his way, so his character was a surprise. Both Betty and Veronica are petite, and Khushi didn’t physically suit her part. Agastya made a pretty cute Indian Archie. Pop Tates is such an exciting ice cream shop in the comic, but in the movie, it looked so dull and boring I wanted to cry.
Zoya's assistant director was sudha kongara now you why her work seems to be different in recent movies of her.

The aesthetics, sets and costumes of the movie were great but likewise I believe that this film lacked something
The plotline was very loose , hollow and predictable, the characters couldve been written better if this was suppose to be "coming of the age". The entire movie felt like mocking instead of a "feel good" experience.
I didn't even watch the whole movie because of how bored I got , i wish the casts were better that couldve at least made the movie more watchable
