Yeah, choosing Armani for Argentina just goes to show that you disrespect south American football or just picked players based on their wether you know their name or not
I'm sorry Alfie, but I'll have to strongly disagree with you on the topic of the worst player from Portugal. Given the enormous touting and expectations from arguably the best player in the world and the overall productivity (or lacking to the point he had to be benched) he has shown I think it is extremely unfair to tag the youngest and least responsible for the successes and shortcomings of the Portuguese squad as the "worst player" instead. Furthermore, Antonio Silva has represented Benfica 10 times in the League, plus twice in the Portuguese Cup and 6 times in UCL for a total of 18 games played at only 19 years of age having scored for three times and never lost a game for Benfica.
This was a poor video, Alfie was so lazy with his research for this video. He also said Kevin Rodriguez was Ecuador's worst player which is completely false
Agreed, I think he should've titled it the weakest link or least significant player on each squad instead, but you gotta earn some clicks somehow, I guess
Hold up! You picked Yahia Attiyat Allah, a player who was exceptional whenever he came on and played a big part in his start vs Portugal. Nah, if there is one player from Morocco who has been worse, it's Cheddira. That man is Maguire if he was a forward.
I was shocked when he was announced. Then even more shocked when he actually played against England. Hopefully, we get to see more of Joe Scally at some point.
I still remember watching Zaha highlights as a teenager when it looked like Arsenal would sign him and I swear I left a comment that they should forget him and sign that Palace attacking mid Jonathan Williams. He was all over Zahas highlights and looked super talented I swear. So thats why I'm not employed as a scout
Hi Alfie! I’m going to have to strongly disagree with you for Australia. The worst player in that squad is easily Vukovic, he’s been average at best for Central Coast and has made many mistakes in goal this season. Tilio on the other hand has looked great when playing off the bench or in the starting 11.
Disagree with the Australia one. While Marco Tilio might have been a replacement for Boyle, I still feel Danny Vukovic is, by far, the worst squad member. He wasn't in good form at Mariners, and was lucky to be picked.
Seems there's a pattern of people from "less" important teams (and many big ones) really disagree with his picks. Kinda like he tried to chew on too much at the same time without proper knowledge, specially of domestico or regional leagues. I love this channel but this video was just world cup bait
@@williamdoughty3742 I agree but I'd being looking at the age of player then. Vukovic is 36 with 4 caps, while Tilio is only 21 and has had 5 caps, plenty of potential and plays for a successful team in Melbourne City.
Mate. I’m still furious about some of Wales’ selections for the WC… I’m not saying that we were destined to win the thing, but at least compete? So many on form, Welsh players were left behind - and instead, we brought the tired, injured, off-form old guard. Ah well. See you all in another 64 years.
Johan Vásquez is a good player. He was one of the best defenders in the Mexican league until his move to Italy. At Genoa he quickly became a starter, and statistically last season was one of the best center backs in Serie A. He has a weird club situation but as long as he keeps playing he’ll turn out to be a decent center back. He rarely got minutes under Tata, he has favorites.
Johan Vazquez was the top U-23 cb in the league last year. Somehow instead f going to Atalanta, Lazio or Fiorentina like he was officially linked, he ended up on the wrist squad, again.
Barisic gets a lot flak home, but so does Sosa in this tournament. However I wouldn't put him as "weak link". He is solid international sub fullback. Can be used tactically when we need some crosses. Sosa loves more to cut inside then cross. Weak link for Croatia would probably be Domagoj Vida or even Josip Stanisic before Barisic. Vida is legend of team and thats why they brought him. Far from his old form. Josip Sutalo would get chance over him for sure if we needed to change cb.
Stanisic hasn’t even played at the World Cup yet but he was amazing in the nations league and managed to get motm against France. So I have to say our worst player is Budimir, the man is completely useless in front of goal and just slows the play down so much.
I think most of Qatar's team could count for the list Edit: as an American, the rest of the world is lucky our best athletes chose to play different sports, just imagine if Tyreek Hill and his deadly speed played football instead of football
I BEG you to put a little bit more into these videos. Just Wikipedia isn't enough. European countries were on point but off your home continent, it's less than great. An odd break in the usually terrific HITC Sevens form! That is, discounting that terrible "biggest stadiums" video from a good few years back.
Just because Armani doesn't play for a europeam team it means he's the worst Argentinian player??? Really shows the lack of reaserch. He's one of the best South American goalkeepers in the last decade for sure. Copa libertaderes winner with Atl.Nacional & River Plate (being key player in both teams) has a record of 800mins without receiving any goal. Saying he is the worst player in the squad when you have Tagliafico or Foyth is a clear lack of reaserch on your part
I know this is a year late, but after watching the video and reading your comment, it’s clear you didn’t understand the point of this video. Nobody said he is a bad player, none of Argentina’s players are, but you have to remember that Armani is in a team with some of the best players of all time, so his competition is stiff
Would love an in depth video of how/why Croatia outperform other countries of a much larger size. It must be something structural as it's been that way since they became an independent nation.
It's simple. Everyone always counts the Croatian population of 3.8 million, not taking into that count a large number of players that are Croats from Bosnia and Herzegovina. That makes this pool larger. Even more, we have an additional pool of Croats living around the world. I.e., Ivan Rakitic was born in Switzerland. Next, genetics. Dinaric/Adriatic people are good at many sports. Third, a lot of players work in foreign clubs, mostly in Europe, where they get access to excellent coaching, training, facilities, medical assistance. Yes, we are a Foreign legion, just taken the other way around. Last but not least, football is a great opportunity for youngsters not to live as the average Croat does. That is a big motivational factor. And one secret: inat. ‘Inat’ is a word of Turkish origin, an expression that translates as ‘stubbornness’, ‘obstinacy’, or ‘spite’. That is the foundation of national mentality.
I watched every second of the USMNT WC games, and while some players didn't play great, none looked completely out of their depth except Shaq Moore. This was the right pick.
Greetings, Alfie! Big fan of your videos. I admire your knowledge of worldwide football culture. I must say, though, that it’s rather disappointing to see Franco Armani as Argentina’s “worst” player. He’s probably been given the underrated treatment here but he’s a true legend in South America for winning Copa Libertadores twice with two different teams (one of them almost single-handedly making a triple save in the knock-out stage and having played brilliantly in the other games) AND for being a late boomer altogether. Gerónimo Rulli is a much more average keeper than Armani, and I would have even put Juan Foyth below Armani. Other than that, I believe the other selections are spot-on. Cheers!
As an Australian I absolutely disagree with the decision to put Marco Tilio as a our worst player. He was in great form handing into the World Cup and was harsh not to be included before Boyle got injured. If we’re looking on our worst player in form in the team, it was probably Danny Vukovic. Who has been conceding such easy chances for the Mariners, and if it weren’t for being apart of our national team keepers union, he’d have been out of the squad in place of Mitch Langerak.
Don’t agree with you at all my man. The Moroccan🇲🇦 player you chosen just played against Portugal and he nailed it. You should have chosen #21 Cheddira.
Came here after I saw Alejandro Balde on the thumbnail as the worst player for Spain, only to see Dani Alves as the worst player for Brazil Bonkers Turns out the choice for "worst player for Spain" is Eric Garcia🤦🏾🤦🏾🤦🏾
Hey Alfie, I just want to say that you are incredibly incorrect about Armani, if you watch even some of his highlights you can see that he is a big game keeper and makes incredible saves all the time. Also Exe Palacios is also a great player who’s just not getting many minutes at Leverkusen. For worst player in the squad I would probably put Angel Correa, or Thiago Almada just for his inexperience
Whilst I agree with the fact that Jonniesta is our worst player, I'm surprised you failed to mention Christ Gunter, who also plays in League Two (albeit only since the start of the season) as one of the contenders especially as you put Sparky Harris in there who has played a decent amount of football for Cardiff this season even if he hasn't scored a lot he has played a few games (including the first game back vs Stoke) on the wing (which I'd argue is his better position than up front). I'll give a dishounourable mention to Dylan Levitt who, whilst seaccording to Fotmob is one of their better players this season, is playing for bottom of the Scottish Premiership team Dundee United, alongside Matt Smith who you mentioned is playing for MK Dons who are doing awfully in League One
Alfie you seem to have forgotten that Wales inexplicably took Chris Gunter (yes, that one) to Qatar. Whilst Williams is indeed playing for Swindon town and is injury prone, at the weekend when Wimbledon played Swindon, Williams started and looked dangerous, and Gunter was benched in place of 20 year old Huseyin Biler.
The guy was finished 4 years ago at Reading....how on earth he was in the squad is mystifying. Interesting that Ed Woodburn is finding form again and scoring. Hopefully he can be included again. I'm getting frustrated with Rob Page. Giggs had done a fantastic job and we were progressing but we have not really kicked on under Page and fudged our way through the Euros (playing a weakened team against Italy that nearly saw us eliminated as the Swiss nearly caught us on GD)....but this world cup was an utter disaster and he has to carry the can for much of it.
Saying Jonny Williams is the worst player in the Wales squad was a shocking pick. I'm a season ticket holder of a League Two club and whenever we've played Swindon he's been excellent. Obviously you'd place him above the aforementioned Chris Gunter - who was decent when I saw him at Wimbledon, yet I wouldn't describe him as one of the division's best players like Williams - but I feel there are quite a few players in the Wales squad from higher EFL divisions that he's outshining domestically as well.
Yahia Attiat Allah honestly I’m not gonna say I watch a lot of Moroccan league football but from what I’ve seen from him he’s actually pretty good even playing for Mazraoui a few times
Vasquez isn't close to being Mexico's worst, i think that title comfortably belongs to Hector Herrera now. Unfit, gets gassed in minutes, can't defend, doesn't have the technique or the rocket of a right leg he used to have... Antuna is worth a shout too i guess but I'd still give it to Herrera.
Attiat Allah?! Which drugs are you on seriously? He was one of the best players in Morocco any time he went on the pitch! I'm absolutely certain he will make a good transfer in January
As bad a shaq moore is, he still isn’t worse than Aaron Long (who wasn’t even nominated in the top 40 mls defenders) and Christian Roldan (who has consistently underperformed against concacaf minnows). The USMNT has grown a lot talent wise but our selection this World Cup cycle has been awful and a third of our squad ended up being mls players
I laugh because Roldan was brought on for "eyes and vibes" according to GGG, yet if you've been following the Gio Reyna drama lately, the vibes were very much nonexistent within this team the whole tournament.
When it comes to Alvaro Zamora for Costa Rica, he's actually the result of corruption within the football federation because they wanted to give a big payout to Saprissa. No one in the media or the general public was happy with him going when important players in Europe like Manfred Ugalde and Alonso Martinez were left out.
Nah, it’s easily Shaq Moore. Aaron Long is slow now, but he was at least a good center back before injuries ruined his career and derailed his move to England. Jordan Morris is a servicable backup option at forward who has an excellent goal-scoring record for the national team. Shaq Moore didn’t even have a great season for Nashville. He looked woefully out of place in Qatar. Hopefully, his days are done with the national team unless he significantly improves.
Best German players in the premier league of all time. (Day 426) I will not give up until the video is made or Alfie himself tells me to stop. Everyone else telling me that will be ignored. If you don't believe my number, just go back to the previous videos. I'm at the bottom most of the time, but I'm there.
He never got played by Australia! But he took a swipe at David Wotherspoon and Borna Barisic so I'm assuming he is quite simply putting down the Scottish league
Thank you for saying and clarifying your choice of johan Vasquez for Mexico but to be honest as a Mexico fan the worst player is probably Roberto Alvarado
should have just been players to play in the World Cup so we have something to rate them off rather than just naming someone that didn’t play. Could have been funnier and more interesting to list off stats
The worst player in Mexico world World Cup was not Vásquez. It was Raul Jimenez… he has no respect for himself… his ticket was for Santi Giménez not for Raul himself. And no Vásquez won’t be a “regular”… you don’t even know what’s going in the Mexican federation and the bomb that exploded here… search “Goal Cartel Mexico” you will understand a lot

@@lincon1778What facts did he get wrong?
You do understand Alfie is giving his opinion, which may be different to yours?
Ong Ronaldo has that spot on lock but Alfie was too nice not giving it to him or he was scared of fanboys brigading lol

Hold up! You picked Yahia Attiyat Allah, a player who was exceptional whenever he came on and played a big part in his start vs Portugal. Nah, if there is one player from Morocco who has been worse, it's Cheddira. That man is Maguire if he was a forward.
I’d still rather be the worst player in a World Cup squad than the best player left at home.
Eric Garcia to be fair is one of the most consistent players in the game; always crap and always delivers loads of it.
Spot on with the Shaq Moore call but that was an easy one. When his inclusion was announced most US fans laughed.
I was shocked when he was announced. Then even more shocked when he actually played against England. Hopefully, we get to see more of Joe Scally at some point.
Daniel Schmidt was my first choice goalkeeper in a certain FM11 career I played at Consadole. What a legend he is to me!
Stupid for this fella to pick Schmidt as the worst player. Personally the worst player in this squad in this Japan squad is Kawashima.
It’s more why Shaq Moore a mid mls right back who was benched in laliga 2 played more than a Bundesliga starter in joe scally
The worst player from Switzerland has to be Renato Steffen, he literally has no skill.
I can't help but think that the name would have been Robert Balenciaga not Mugabe Balenciaga 😂
Either way that was pretty funny.
Vukovic by far the worst, but you can’t expect him to watch every single A-league game
@@mafiousbj true. Vukovic is 36 and has had only 4 caps to his name. Tilio is 21, 5 caps and plays for a successful team in Melbourne City.
Video recommendation: all time best XI of players from relegated premier league teams
Johan Vazquez was the top U-23 cb in the league last year. Somehow instead f going to Atalanta, Lazio or Fiorentina like he was officially linked, he ended up on the wrist squad, again.
@Redt lol exactly all of those players are worse than johan imo
@Redt Alvarado definitely was the worst player
It looks like he didn't check every player in the Mexican squad.
Yahia attiat lah was massive against portugal and he was one the best team of that stage
Eric Garcia probably the worst player to wear a Spain shirt in the last 20 years.
England should have been Ben White, he did nothing, upset the coaches then got sent home
Could have chosen players that actually had minutes at the cup tbh
Ronaldo was definitely the worst Portuguese
Barisic gets a lot flak home, but so does Sosa in this tournament. However I wouldn't put him as "weak link". He is solid international sub fullback. Can be used tactically when we need some crosses. Sosa loves more to cut inside then cross. Weak link for Croatia would probably be Domagoj Vida or even Josip Stanisic before Barisic. Vida is legend of team and thats why they brought him. Far from his old form. Josip Sutalo would get chance over him for sure if we needed to change cb.
I dislike judging people who haven't even started in a single match so my pick would be Budimir
Stanisic hasn’t even played at the World Cup yet but he was amazing in the nations league and managed to get motm against France. So I have to say our worst player is Budimir, the man is completely useless in front of goal and just slows the play down so much.
Budimir, just based on his performances thus far.
I think most of Qatar's team could count for the list
Edit: as an American, the rest of the world is lucky our best athletes chose to play different sports, just imagine if Tyreek Hill and his deadly speed played football instead of football
Best player from every team to miss the World Cup.
I BEG you to put a little bit more into these videos. Just Wikipedia isn't enough. European countries were on point but off your home continent, it's less than great. An odd break in the usually terrific HITC Sevens form! That is, discounting that terrible "biggest stadiums" video from a good few years back.
Idk if you’re planning to do a video about Grant Wahl but it would be cool if you made one!
Your attempts to read the Polish names were adorable
🤣🤣🤣
St Johnstone fan here… WTF IS WRONG WITH DAVID WOTHERSPOON?!?
also in all seriousness just glad we could get a mention :)
Would have preferred list of worst players that actually played a whole game or something. Much more relevant in my opinion
Now do the worst player for every squad at the Women’s World Cup.
As a mexican I disagree the worst player of mexico at the world cup was funes mori some of us call him fallas mori which means misses mori
Good friend Alfie Potts Harmer,a good result by your beloved Hull City team by getting a 0-0 draw at Watford yesterday!!!:-D
I just love the man's humorous lines as he showcases Cameroon's 3rd choice goalie Simon Ngatc.........😄😄😄😄
Cheers!
After the WC: worst player of every squad that ACTUALLY played minutes in this WC!
USA: Wright
Shaq Moore ACTUALLY played minutes in this WC and was terrible. I agree that Wright wasn't any better. Neither should have been on the roster.
Suggestion here: it would be cool to look at this video when 2026 rolls around to see where all these players are now
As an Australian I absolutely disagree with the decision to put Marco Tilio as a our worst player.
Came here after I saw Alejandro Balde on the thumbnail as the worst player for Spain, only to see Dani Alves as the worst player for Brazil
Bonkers
Turns out the choice for "worst player for Spain" is Eric Garcia🤦🏾🤦🏾🤦🏾
That doesnt mean they are terrible, just not on the level of their respective squads
Couldn't agree more on Eric Garcia, cant see what the hype is all about he's average.
Who hyped him up?
Hey Alfie, I just want to say that you are incredibly incorrect about Armani, if you watch even some of his highlights you can see that he is a big game keeper and makes incredible saves all the time. Also Exe Palacios is also a great player who’s just not getting many minutes at Leverkusen. For worst player in the squad I would probably put Angel Correa, or Thiago Almada just for his inexperience
For Mexico it should have been Nestor Aruajo. He is uncoordinated as hell. He got a yellow card for not knowing how to tackle properly.
You should do worst player that play in the World Cup
had to come back to this after Shaq Moore somehow got called in again for the USA Copa America roster
I'll give a dishounourable mention to Dylan Levitt who, whilst seaccording to Fotmob is one of their better players this season, is playing for bottom of the Scottish Premiership team Dundee United, alongside Matt Smith who you mentioned is playing for MK Dons who are doing awfully in League One
i think it would really hurt Alfie if i call out his eurocentric point of view in Franco Armani´s case.
How about the Worst Player in Every World Cup Winning Starting XI as a sequel
Attiat Allah?! Which drugs are you on seriously? He was one of the best players in Morocco any time he went on the pitch! I'm absolutely certain he will make a good transfer in January
For Belguim it is undeniably lukaku even by ability
*Lakaka
He's not a footballer though.
I stayed for the entire video just to see if Alfie would come up with a crazy dictator name . Here's one Alfie , Fidal Hilfiger
@@ryansmith1044 he had one job and couldn’t even do that right lol
When it comes to Alvaro Zamora for Costa Rica, he's actually the result of corruption within the football federation because they wanted to give a big payout to Saprissa. No one in the media or the general public was happy with him going when important players in Europe like Manfred Ugalde and Alonso Martinez were left out.
You should add time stamps please. It makes it easier to navigate.
For the USMNT, it should of have been a tie with
Moore, Long, and Morris.
For me in the Brazilian Squad it's either Fred or Pedro.....
Borna Barasic has only played 1 game. It's way too harsh to call him the worst for his nation.
Would have Loved to see Erling Haaland at this FIFA World Cup … 🤦🏿♂️. ⚽️

even more shocking then shaq moore playing more than reyna is that he played more than joe scally

Enjoy your videos Alfie, but what is your mention of Cammy Devlin based on? Have you seen him play this season?
He never got played by Australia! But he took a swipe at David Wotherspoon and Borna Barisic so I'm assuming he is quite simply putting down the Scottish league
Thank you for saying and clarifying your choice of johan Vasquez for Mexico but to be honest as a Mexico fan the worst player is probably Roberto Alvarado
should have just been players to play in the World Cup so we have something to rate them off rather than just naming someone that didn’t play. Could have been funnier and more interesting to list off stats
I 100% agree with the Eric Garcia shout
The worst player in Mexico world World Cup was not Vásquez. It was Raul Jimenez… he has no respect for himself… his ticket was for Santi Giménez not for Raul himself. And no Vásquez won’t be a “regular”… you don’t even know what’s going in the Mexican federation and the bomb that exploded here… search “Goal Cartel Mexico” you will understand a lot
