Awesome Brother! Where I grew up we called them 'slough sharks', & yes, we considered them a nuisance when fishing for Walleye. They're like the monster 'Bluegill' of Saskatchewan... everywhere! Now I miss those fish dearly. You had a great day on the water, thanks for taking us along! I'm gonna have to venture North to the Tippy now.
Your excitement at 18:20 over the smallie got me fired up! This episode lived up to the hype. Beautiful pikes and some solid tippy smallies. Thanks for sharing your adventure
Indiana has some spots that rival world class smallmouth and pike fisheries. I’ve seen some giants pulled out of Indiana in small spots like that. My PB smallie in Indiana was in a stream only 6 foot or so at the deepest and could flip and pitch all the way across it sideways.
Definitely one of your best fishing trip videos this year, I think watching you get excited and having a good time is part of what makes your videos entertaining lol and it's funny
Just a thought , maybe you could have a heavy duty clip or hand clamp that could be clipped to something branch or what not with a short piece of 550 cord to stop as you fight fish or want to stay in one area that is particularly good. ,so
Muskies, chain pickerel, pike around me is also smallmouth waters. Great episode. Must be pockets of cooler water for largemouth. Best time to fish around me is the moment it melts in early spring. Using live minnows it’s a killer just give them a chance to swallow it. Do this the moment the creek melts even along the shallow banks. I catch huge smallmouths that time of the year. 20/22 inches are commonplace. Again only that time of the year. After that the muskies and the rock bass take over.
What an extremely fantastic day. I have had a few topwater days like that in around 50 years of fishing, but not many. Treasure the ones you have because they are really fun.
Another stream to look at for a trip would be the Kishwaukee River that flows through Northern IL. Top Smallmouth Bass stream, that also holds Northern Pike and Walleyes. Focus on Boone and Winnebago counties. Thanks for sharing, brings back lots of memories!
Just came across this video and saw you fished one of my local rivers. how cool. The sad part is you caught bigger pike in that one trip than I have in several years. Awesome job and nice fish John.
Awesome video and great catches of fish I bought me some little smokies at Kroger's a few days ago I'm going to try them out and see if I can catch any fish off them and hopefully catch some big ones I'm still searching for my first big decent size fish this year wish me luck God bless and happy fishing 🎣
One of the largest fish I ever caught was in Northern Indiana. It was in about 6" of water. COHO Salmon. Talk about fun. Great video. Glad you had a good time! We used to call those small pike, hammerhandles.
Glad to see you introduced to the northern pike. Any day you get smallies and pike hitting topwater its pretty cool. Keep expanding your horizons brother. Blessings
The Pike was fun, My wife has the largest one for the two of us, 30 inches. She has the biggest Largemouth as well at almost 7.4 lbs. She missed an opportunity to improve that catch Monday night in Louisiana, it tossed the hook, bummer. As usual, she managed to better my catches by a good pound. Thanks for sharing John.
Nice 👍 I remember when I cought my first Pike while fishing for Bass, took me fifteen minutes just to get it close to the boat. Just a little over 3' never cought another one.. great job 👍
I live in Indiana and you have fished more waters than me. The White river is pretty close to me, but I haven't had the chance to fish it yet. Mostly fishing the Mississinewa river.
Come in down to western north Carolina we have a lit of musky. Musky mile on the French broad river is well known and the biggest musky in NC for a long time have come out of lake Adger on the Green river both are great spots to kayak near your normal stomping grounds if I'm not mistaken.
What a wonderfully nice day you had. I love seeing your sucesses on the waterways. Not to worry about running on. Nope, I could watch your fishing for hours because there's always something calming and interesting to see on your trips.
If you go North over the border to Geneva Lake, WI. Go by the Grand Geneva resort. Launch your kayak by the bridge for the White River. Bunch of Pike in there.
I've caught Pike over 30" out of a spring fed feeder creek about 12' wide in Illinois as cars whizz by heading to Wisconsin. Never underestimate small creeks!
What a fantastic day of topwater!! Thank you for sharing this! Your casting is so ON POINT!!! If I could be half as accurate I'd spend less time retrieving from trees and less money on replacements!!! LOL!! Keep up the great work!
That was a great spot to get to fish John. You caught alot of nice fish there. Thank you for sharing this video with us today. And God bless you sir. 🙏❤🙏❤🙏😊😊😊
Please do a video of Beaver Lake in Arkansas; both the lake and the White River below the dam. Great fishing for many species. Loads of trout below the dam.
Man thats GREAT video. Never knew they had them fish in Indiana. I'm from Cincinnati Ohio. Going have to try get up there for some pike. I never caught one of them either. Be good find for my channel as well. I got a fish on my last week's video that I have never caught until then. It was a lot of fun getting that fish for myself. Always up for a new target species and the adventure it takes to get them. Thank you for bringing us along sir.
Great video. Norther pike are great to catch. Aggressive bites & a good fight. Though not known for it are very good to eat, once you learn how to fillet out the bones. White & flaky meat & delicious.
WOW just WOW Those bites from the Northern pike were so explosive. I mean I jumped a few times just watching this video...heck i may have even peed a little bit.. LOL just kidding but man what an exciting video to watch and I can't even imagine what it was like experiencing that for real. Thanks for the adventure. God Bless and GO KATS!!!!!!!
Great fishing...What a grerat little river. Tippecanoe River, I think that's around Ft Wayne or at least close? Used to travel up that way, years and years ago. You certainly got a great initiation on Pike. Congrats and thanks for sharing. Oh, and that's a long boring drive. haha perfect Psalm.
Been watching quite a few of your videos. Enjoy them tremendously. Only thing that bothers me is the struggle you seem to have paddling that pedal kayak. It seems heavy in the paddle.
My best fishing day ever was in 1987 in a small river in Missouri, right on the edge of a cold front. Every cast was a different species, I caught species that you would not beieve would eat earthworms. Me and two of my coworkers waded the stretch as far as we dared as the clouds rolled in, the entire time at least one of us had a fish on the hook. A fellow came down to see what we were doing as we got out, we told him and he said he was just checking because people were alway throwing out trash and never saw anyone fishing. We told him they were missing out.
Fantastic Video John did 👌 Indiana proud. I know a lot of people consider these more or less a nuisance but they put up a great fight The top water is the only way to go. Caught many of them down in Southern Indiana at lake Patoka great sport fish. Gl ad to see you a great trip for the distance you had to drive hope you had a good trip back home. God is the Great Provider!
Once again awesome video ! I would like to extend my offer again to have you come to east central Indiana and work on some 2,3 and 4 pound smallies. I really enjoy your videos and always enjoy the verse and fellowship at the end !
Grown up fishing the polluted rivers and streams in Indiana they're a lot cleaner now that still got a lot of good fish caught my only wild trout in White River it used to be horrible
@@jasonh6919 :) Yeah, i certainly cant say that. I think a lot of my problem is equipment, rod too stiff, need something i can cast with a little less arm and more wrist. Any suggestions?
Honestly, just go down to Walmart and grab a $10 Zebco 202 combo. It'll break in a month or two, but there's no better way to try it out. Everyone who tells you you're not a fisherman unless you're tossing out a spinning reel probably secretly hates themselves. Just put a practice plug on the end of your new setup and toss a coffee can in the yard and practice plinking it. It's actually a lot of fun!
The statement on the back of the tshirt couldn't be more true, those topwater hits were amazing.
Upper Tippecanoe, upper Wabash, St. Joe, Pigeon River, Mississenewa, you never know what you´re gonna catch. All great rivers.
Do you launch Tippecanoe at the State Park?
@@michaelmccormick1016 I have, but I like the river further upstream.
I live on the upper Tippy. It's a blast.
I fish the St. Joe, but want to hit those others.
19:53. Love seeing you fish Indiana. Great video😊
Glad you it was well worth it! Nothing beats topwater bass and pike
On winter days I just go back and watch my number 1 fishing man doing his thing. I do enjoyed this video John 🐟🐟🐟
Your excitement at 18:20 over the smallie got me fired up! This episode lived up to the hype. Beautiful pikes and some solid tippy smallies. Thanks for sharing your adventure
Tobasco beef jerky, donut holes & pikes for breakfast. Fantastic ! I love this guy. And, don’t forget the Bible. Thanks

I was fly fishing with a popper for smallies on the Tippy from a canoe 55 years ago. Fond memories. Thank you.
Just a thought , maybe you could have a heavy duty clip or hand clamp that could be clipped to something branch or what not with a short piece of 550 cord to stop as you fight fish or want to stay in one area that is particularly good. ,so

Thanks for the great content john. Its been better and better since we've started watching you years ago. God Bless and safe creek adventures.
Lol 😆 🤣 that train 🚆 horn blew right after you said it looks good there!! #epic #signofgoodtimes
is that a rebel craw tshirt? thats sick! beutiful river and fish. love your vids. im a creek guy as well, love exploring and wading.
Pike on topwater are so exciting glad you could experience it John congrats on an awesome trip!
I used to live probably 20 minutes from Parkesville lake. We were on the Ocoee every weekend of the summer.
Another stream to look at for a trip would be the Kishwaukee River that flows through Northern IL. Top Smallmouth Bass stream, that also holds Northern Pike and Walleyes. Focus on Boone and Winnebago counties. Thanks for sharing, brings back lots of memories!
Aww man that's a killer spot, never would have imagined fish like that in a spot like that
Just came across this video and saw you fished one of my local rivers. how cool. The sad part is you caught bigger pike in that one trip than I have in several years. Awesome job and nice fish John.
It's magical when the top water bite is on.
you should try fishing on the chattahooche or lake lanier! We’ve got striper and spotted bass and some smallies and largies
Awesome video and great catches of fish I bought me some little smokies at Kroger's a few days ago I'm going to try them out and see if I can catch any fish off them and hopefully catch some big ones I'm still searching for my first big decent size fish this year wish me luck God bless and happy fishing 🎣
Congrats on your first northern Pike and the Tippecanoe River is one of the cleanest rivers around and good fishing
One of the largest fish I ever caught was in Northern Indiana. It was in about 6" of water. COHO Salmon. Talk about fun. Great video. Glad you had a good time! We used to call those small pike, hammerhandles.
Northern pike are fun to catch. If filleted right they are great to eat. Up north we get them at 10 -20 pounds.
Glad to see you introduced to the northern pike. Any day you get smallies and pike hitting topwater its pretty cool. Keep expanding your horizons brother. Blessings

What a great float trip. And the amount of fish was incredible. Nothing like those top water explosions to get the heart going.
We have a lake up here in Illinois that hold some Pike in it but iv'e never been blessed to catch one yet.

Y'all need to come to Wisconsin and fish for salmons and trout. Record setters here. And yeah even bass, perch, blue gill and crappie..
Awesome trip & there is no better bite than a top water explosion.
Nice place too fish would never expect pike to be in such a small creek. Here in Ontario they're mostly in larger bodies of water. Lovely video.

Now that was an exciting adventure.
Those Pike were just explosive.
Great job on using top water lures.
What a great day of fishing, really enjoyed the pike! Thanks John.
The pike are so much fun to catch. We used a 12 inch plier like device to remove the hook . I caught mine in north Dakota
Please do a video of Beaver Lake in Arkansas; both the lake and the White River below the dam. Great fishing for many species. Loads of trout below the dam.
Nice! Different sort of stream! Different sort of topography than Tenn. and the Ozarks!
Love that whopper plopper/choppy sound and then the take!👍
Great trip John. Those top water blowups. Whoa baby!
Love this video, and seeing you catch a few northerns. That river reminds me of the ones around here, mid-Michigan. Same kind of fish too. Awesome!

What an awesome day of fishing. Thanks for sharing it. Never caught pike.
What a nice fishing outing you guys had. Can’t believe how many pike there were. I’m jealous!👍👍👍
Your buddy looks like Larry Bird's grandson. Good episode. My neck of the woods.
Great video. Norther pike are great to catch. Aggressive bites & a good fight. Though not known for it are very good to eat, once you learn how to fillet out the bones. White & flaky meat & delicious.
Top water is amazing right now. I watched one of your videos and you used a Bone #90 WP . Been catching a lot on that thing. Thanks for the Vids!!!!!
I was born and raised at Bunker Hill, Indiana, that was from 1943 to 1965. Long ago and far away

I don’t use top water very often. I caught my first two fish on top water this year. Love your content
Pike are cool fish. I go up to Minnesota to catch them. My personal best is 40 inches. Love the videos man!!
Wow! This beginning is awesome! I caught some today on top water too. 😁😁😁😁
Been watching quite a few of your videos. Enjoy them tremendously. Only thing that bothers me is the struggle you seem to have paddling that pedal kayak. It seems heavy in the paddle.
A truly awesome fishing intro as always!! Stay Blesssed John!!
@ 6:13 wow , delicious , they look full and heavy
Another great video man loved it can't wait to see you do some Musky fishing in your area God bless

Thanks for another Great adventure John😎
John, hope you and your family were safe during Hurricane Helene. I’ve been praying for you guys!! Pastor Will Walters

Another awesome video! Ive always loved fishing topwater! Nice fish to👍🏼
I have found that smallmouth that compete with pike are just more aggressive.
Where you at grown up still in Indiana but Southern now

Thats why i like my 10 ft yak nice n light

No shame in runnin' with the spincaster game. I can nail a tin can from 30 feet away with it and it always puts me where I want to be.

Did you catch those pike on the berkley lighting rod you bought in the previouse video?
