Not to take much earned attention away from everyone in this performance, but Pollini performing Prokofiev's piano concerto 3 is by far the greatest recording I've personally seen. Check it, yo. Maurizio Pollini 3°Prokofiev.mp4
The pianissimo at 31:19 (to allow room for crescendo) was the only original concept. Prok 3 sounds eerily similar from pianist to pianist because of the regimented tempo. Unfortunately, Trifinov is not the most virtuosic pianist nor the most artistic to make this piece sound any different.
Oh boy, you should listen at him now. In my opinion he is quickly on his way to become one of the greatest pianists of this generation. I adore his Rachmaninoff concerto 2 recording and I'm really looking forward to his Rach 1&3 this October. I'm not sure if Prokofiev is really his thing, but I'm going to a recital of Trifonov in November where he playes (among others) a Prokofiev sonata, so I'll judge then
Oh please he's playing this concerto at breakneck speed which opens like a Czerny technical exercise. He' s not virtuosic? A musically illiterate statement.
Bravo Daniil!!!❤

Thank you for this link. I've long admired Pollini but just discovered the Prok 3. What a delightful contrast to Trifonov!
