  • Brixham is a charming fishing town near Torquay and Paignton in the South Devon Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is a popular holiday destination for both UK and international tourists, and there are many reasons why people should consider holidaying in Brixham.
One of the main attractions of Brixham is its stunning natural beauty. The town is located on the coast, and there are several beautiful beaches and coastal walks to enjoy. The surrounding countryside is also breathtaking, with rolling hills, wooded valleys and an abundance of wildlife. Whether you want to relax on the beach, go for a hike in the countryside or enjoy a spot of fishing, Brixham has something to offer everyone.
Brixham is also home to a rich maritime history, and visitors can learn about the town's past at the Brixham Heritage Museum, which tells the story of the town and its role in the fishing industry. The town is also home to a number of historic landmarks, including the Grade II listed lighthouse and the 14th century St Mary's Church.
If you enjoy trying local food and drink, then you will love holidaying in Brixham. The town is home to a range of excellent seafood restaurants, cafes and pubs, serving a variety of local produce. There are also a number of farmers markets and food festivals throughout the year, showcasing the best of local produce.
For those who enjoy sporting and outdoor activities, Brixham has plenty to offer. The town is also a popular destination for walkers and hikers, with a number of scenic trails through the surrounding countryside.
Finally, Brixham is well-connected to the rest of the country, with good transport links by road, rail and air. It is just a short drive from the M5 motorway and there are regular train services to and from major cities such as London and Bristol. The town is also served by Exeter International Airport, with regular flights to a range of domestic and international destinations.
Overall, Brixham is a wonderful holiday destination, offering something for everyone. Its stunning natural beauty, rich maritime history, excellent food and drink, and range of sporting and outdoor activities make it the perfect place to relax and unwind.
It's worthwhile checking out the annual Brixham Pirate Festival that takes place in the harbour every year. Also have a look around the famous Brixham Fish Market or take a ferry across to Torquay or Paignton.
There are plenty of B&B's and guesthouses in Brixham to stay at during your holiday. Brixham Harbour is located on the southern side of Tor Bay and boasts one of the largest fishing fleets in the UK, plus a thriving fish market to support it.

My wife and I love Brixham and have been going there almost yearly in June ( amongst other places ) since 2011 taking our touring caravan down there for a few weeks from Leigh near Wigan.
Lovely as your video is there is a lot more in the area you don't mention.
Berry head is good for a few hours as is the regular ferry trip to Torquay.
Dartmouth is also nearby and a train trip on the steam railway to cross on the ferry to there from Paington is lovely.
There is a little theatre in Brixham that has regular productions and a few years ago we went to see a burlesque show there - wipes forehead.
Crab sandwiches from those cabins on the Quay are to die for.
Occasionally they have artistes performing under the covered area near the pirate ship.
You never toured the main shopping street but that is also a worthwhile walk.
During our most recent trip there we were in our caravan staying on a THS at the rugby club for about £12 per night - cheap as chips.
For years there used to be an old lady dressed all in black who frequented the port area and was often pushing a supermarket trolley containing her worldly goods - homeless I expect.
We sometimes contributed to her plight.
The last time we visited Brixham there was no sign of her and I wondered what happened to her.
You never showed the steps on Temperance Place - not for the feint hearted or vertigo sufferers.
    Love Brixham

One of my favourite places to visit on a day trip. But while the road closures on the outskirts making the bus journey too long will be going elsewhere. Told its only for three months but no one believes that as never has any roadworks in Torbay kept to the timescale. Probably will still be sorting them out in 6 months time if the residents are lucky.

Brixham Belle was built in 1960 as a 'Gentleman's Motor Yacht' in Cowes and named George Henry. The gentleman concerned could not pay for her on completion and the builder converted her to a passenger excursion boat in order to sell her on quickly and cut his losses. She was 48 gross tons and carried 120 passengers.
Brixham Belle was operated out of Brixham for many years by Ernie Cudd and family who mainly ran excursions to Dartmouth and up the river Dart during the day and 'Illuminations Cruises' around Torbay after dark. She was much loved by holiday makers and locals alike. After Ernie retired, she stayed in the family for a while with his son-in-law (I think) as skipper.
Eventually she was sold to Peter Scott and became the founding vessel for his 'Brixham Belle Cruises'. He kept her until he bought Brixham Belle II (formerly Devon Princess III then Torbay Princess II and now Western Lady VII). Brixham Belle is now in Gibraltar with Dolphin World, still in daily use on dolphin watching trips and still named Brixham Belle.
