I lived in Looe back in 1970 when I was 13 (parents had a gift shop in Fore Street). It hasn't changed much and this video brought back lots of memories. I like that you don't spoil it with music or commentary so we can hear the sounds, including the pesky seagulls, which makes it feel authentic, thanks for that. Great video.

Really nice video, Looe is so beautiful, but best to go out of season, during school time, when its quiet. Oh the seagulls...try sleeping through their screeching at night during breeding season !!!
Hint for anyone visiting Looe by car, go across the bridge and on right hand side is a turn off, down very steep hill to a massive car park, but you can walk back up via a much gentler way. The prices for parking were really reasonable too.

I was there in the late 60's, four of us toured the south west listening to the Beatles ❤. We started out down the north coast: Ilfracombe, Clovelly, to St Ives (which we fell in love with) and we came back along the south coast where we fell in love with Looe, and then Brixham. The tent went up and down around 6 times. Looe doesn't appear to have changed much, it's more 'orderly' than back then ie the parking. I also remember the whaling boats coming in. Oh wonderful memories of wonderful times ..... ✌and ❤. Thank you for taking me back. 👍

That stuff on the beach 24:33 is Kelp. a type of seaweed. It will have been torn from the seabed during a recent storm, and washed up onto the beach by the waves. As it bio-degrades, it gives the seaside air a distinct scent...
It looks like all of your Cornwall videos were taken around low tide.
Love all of your videos, thanks!

You ask in a later video about the state of the tide - here's a quick tide guide for beaches -
The sand above the most recent high tide is very dry and churned up by footprints.
If the sand below that is smooth and wet-looking, the tide is going out.
If it's dry-ish with some footprints, it's coming in.

I have amazing memories of a week's holiday in Cornwall as a child and, in particular, Looe. The day's visit to Looe seemed to last for ever, visiting the amusment arcades and dangling my legs over the harbour wall crab fishing for ages with my cousin. Then, many, many years later, I returned with my wife and little Westie hoping the place hadn't changed much. It hadn't changed one bit - even the arcades appeared the same...perhaps with a few more modern games, of course. For some reason on both visits, we never went down to the beach! (?)

Hello again, lovely clip again caught the atmosphere perfectly. Been lucky to have spent several breaks in and around Looe through the years, including one new year before it got so busy at new year ,it was lovely to see family’s with little kids and oak’s all out enjoying the time, remember that the only police I saw were parked in the car park by the bridge wishing everyone a happy new year as they walked back to their accommodation.also remember in season there was a rowing boat ferry going back and forth across river wonder if that still operates.also although mainly the buildings of west looe are more modern the older part of that side is well worth spending time wandering around with a nice pub tucked away in it .all in all a lovely place to go. Keep walking 😊your wanders bring back good memories now that I am unable to do it myself thank you

Thanks for sharing Neil, I have fond memories of Looe as a child with my parents. Looe is a beautiful Cornish town with many attractions, food and great fishing trips. The only thing I was disappointed with on my last rip was the element of happy hour and what that attracts that I saw, which reminded me of parts of Newquay town. For anyone new to visiting, don't let that put you off, it is a beautiful town and worth a visit. Also, be careful of the seagulls, they are crafty and bold. They think nothing of dive bombing you and stealing your Pastie and chips right out of your hands. There are signs saying don't feed them as it encourages them.
