I live around here, and the seafront area is lovely, no complaints, it's the town that shabby and run down, that's the problem, like most big seaside towns in England. They are starting to make it better, by making it more residential. It's happening slowly, but they could do speeding it up more, and not let it take years. When that's done, Torquay will be great again, I'm sure of it 😀❤👍
Thank you for another wonderful walk around my favourite town. Seeing your seaside walks is a great way to forget I’m living in grotty, grey London. You started the video in our favourite bit - Beacon Quay. Next time, head left away from the town centre for a change. Start off by the derelict Living Coasts structure and have a peek over the sea wall and see the two large rocks that are always swarming with cormorants. Next, head up the stairs by Living Coasts and turn right onto Parkhill Road. Go into the grounds of the marvellous Imperial Hotel and follow the signs to the South West Coast path which goes behind the hotel. This leads to a long walk along the cliff tops, taking in London Bridge (a natural stone arch, like a mini Durdle Door), and absolutely stunning views across the bay towards Brixham. You’ll end up on Daddyhole Plain, and boy, is it ever worth the walk! Go on a nice, sunny day.
I like that you often tell us what month and even the day and time you visit the destinations. Including the current temperature would be appreciated! We are Canadian and it’s always helpful to better understand the weather at the time of year you are visiting to help us plan our trips. Thanks!

Maybe we have been lucky but there again we dont go looking for trouble or negatives either. For the people slagging it off you obviously haven’t been to London, Birmingham, Manchester or the UK’s most famous seaside town Blackpool. None of these places come close to the English Riviera

Back in the 1960s, there was a shop window that had two fully stockinged and shoed ladies legs from a shop dummy dangling behind it. They were suspended in the ceiling just behind the window and swung backwards and forwards. This gave the impression that a lady had fallen though the floor from the room above and had got stuck! They were on Vaughan Terrace and I think it was the window of Roly's Fudge & Ice Cream next to the Its Showtime Joke Shop or thereabouts. Anyone else remember these?
A lovely town to visit for a stroll when I’m staying in Paignton, though it’s a shame the only beach is totally covered at high tide then of course stays wet all day. Not good for laying on, have to use a chair.
Torquay has more things to do than any other UK resort, great weather, fabulous accommodation choices, an abundance of independently owned restaurants selling local fish and produce, lots of beaches, hidden coves, history, gardens - it has everything you could wish for as a tourist, and loads of facilities and beautiful places for the locals too.
we spent a week last summer in Devon and to be honest torquay was the one place we couldn't get out of quick enough, apart from harbour seemed really rundown
It is definitely nothing like the French Riviera and avoid the town center. Back in the 70's and 80's it was good but now it is so run down and about 70% of hotels and guest houses have closed down and turned into social housing (HMO's) or private apartments. I had a property overlooking the harbour for 8 years and I am so happy to of sold the property and left Torquay well behind.
Is it really that bad? I’m thinking of moving here. I have a dear friend who lives here already. I can’t drive and I’m. Single. Plus health problems. So I need to be somewhere that has shops. Amenities. Public transport. There are a loads of stunning villages i could go to but I fear I would struggle with my personal restrictions. ( figure I can do day trips to other prettier places). I was there a few weeks ago. I’m going next week yo have a really proper look around. See if I could picture myself living here. Or Babbacombe. Wanting to relocate after Christmas. Lovely boats and water , but WAY too many people. Way too many. I love the quiet, quaint places better. Never had seen Torquay so it was nice to see what it was like.
Speaking as someone born in Torquay, the scenery's pretty and the food's excellent, but Torbay isn't what it used to be. Crime has been rising steadily in the borough over the last few years, Torbay needs more police, and to deal with all the drunks and drug addicts, they really should adopt the American idea of "drunk tanks" so the poor beleagured Torbay General Hospital A&E isn't flooded with aggressive, intoxicated people who need police guards on them.
I wish you would show the true Torquay? Let’s say Castle Circus and the spice club ware the Council hold the meetings but refuse to come out the front anymore because of them they shuffle out of the back door ?? Torquay has a drug problem!!
Ahhh ,Torquay...like a lot of places ,it's nice in places but awful in others...Heroin and crack addicts, spice heads, drunks ,loads of homeless ,crime, immigrants, etc etc etc. Torquay and torbay are in a time warp...
Are you mad bro? Torquay it's literally the best place to avoid! My partner go attacked there just by minding his business walking down the road by some two wannabe gangsters. As someone who lived in Devon all my life let me tell you even the crappy Paignton is better place to go!

👍👍👍
I lived in London for 16 years and Torquay for 12 years. Torquay/Paignton has a dark side, trust. You tourists know nothing
@@toadvision8878 All cities have a dark side - every one of them
Speaking as someone born in Torquay, the scenery's pretty and the food's excellent, but Torbay isn't what it used to be.
DEVON BEACH
👍👍👍
yr right 3 horrible high rise flats rest of tqy good
Yes those three high rise are 🤮🤮
One of the worst seaside towns I have visited, the only saving grace was a quant little village nearby, with old cottages.
It’s okay for me! I like it!
I wish you would show the true Torquay? Let’s say Castle Circus and the spice club ware the Council hold the meetings but refuse to come out the front anymore because of them they shuffle out of the back door ?? Torquay has a drug problem!!
Ok
Ahhh ,Torquay...like a lot of places ,it's nice in places but awful in others...Heroin and crack addicts, spice heads, drunks ,loads of homeless ,crime, immigrants, etc etc etc. Torquay and torbay are in a time warp...
No different from any other city that I visit
@@GimbalWalkTV torquay is no city lol...its a half reasonable sized town lol...its no London, but its got problems that cities get for sure...
Are you mad bro? Torquay it's literally the best place to avoid! My partner go attacked there just by minding his business walking down the road by some two wannabe gangsters. As someone who lived in Devon all my life let me tell you even the crappy Paignton is better place to go!
Hate Torquay, always have.
I will become one of the many who complain about torquay. place SUCKKKKSSSSSS
ok
The Coke Capital of the South-West!! Bring a Stab-Vest!
ha ha had no issues but then again I'm 6 foot 3 and built like a tank
@@GimbalWalkTV fair shout! It's one of those places, nice at the Surface, scratch a bit and you'll uncover some crap!! Probably the same as most places in fairness!!
