Lead crystal does not leech lead at all in any way...

Agreed. This video is bs. Next day the maker of this video buys up all the "unusable poisonous" beautiful lead crystal decanters and glasses on marketplace for a few dollars.😆

The question I want answered is this. How long can I fill my decanter with J&B scotch then tell everyone that it's Laphroaig without getting caught.

Here's a question I previously used an old crystal decanter mum handed down to me and I noticed it had a small black marking on inside which I presume is black mold is this common? As there was no liquid left in the decanter did I not dry it correctly?
Anyway to sterilise clean the interior I've resorted to using 99.9% iso Alcohol diluted 70/30 with water to produce rubbing alcohol which should not only clean but should kill any mold and remove it and leave a sterile clean interior

If the decanter is actively being used with alcohol I would be surprised if it was mold.

despite popular belief, mold isnt really treatable with alcohols or bleach. Mold is hydrophobic, meaning you can put liquid on it and it will dislodge and float away and ultimately spread. So in regard to your glass wear, just rinse with hot water and some soap will be just as effective. But when it comes to your home, if you see mold, dont think alcohol or bleach will work. It needs to be cut out.

Don’t. Most modern decanters don’t contain lead. Also when you get one read the description on how’s made.

Wow. I have decanters that are over 250 years old. I’m surprised they haven’t dissolved seeing as how much lead comes out of them. There is no mentioned of the amount of lead, or what kind of quantity is bad for you. Low on specifics for a technology channel.

there are so many different levels of lead in old crystal that any numbers would be misleading. generally what you would get from drinking is parts per million. an adult having an occasional drink would be fine. drinking everyday from leaded crystal and you could end up with alzhiemers or low level lead poisoning. I love my crystal wine glasses but it doesn't stay in it but 5-10 min.

Terrible video you didn’t answer a single question on storage. Almost all modern glass decanters do not contain lead

Exactly. I was expecting to hear something about evaporation rates of the alcohol, how light affects color and flavor, and the use of stoppers and cork balls. It was all, 'be careful with lead crystal'.
