- Old Tub is a new limited edition offering from Jim Beam of a very old label. Old Tub was one of the first labels the distillery ever had but it eventually feel out of popularity. Around 2015, the label had a revival as a 375 ml collector's item that was sold mostly at Beam gift shop. Now the label is back in a full 750ml offering, and whereas it carries no age statement, we know from the bourbon being Bottled-in-Bond that it is at least four years old and is 100 proof.

Found this at a local high end grocery and took a chance on it. The $19 price almost scared me off(I hate cheap quality bourbon). This JB offering is excellent. I searched reviews and was happy that you guys confirmed my initial thought. BTW I subscribed to your channel as a result👍
Don't be scared off by price I thought the same way until I tried Benchmark #8 by buffalo trace at $12 and was shocked at how good a bottom shelf could be.
I had Beam from the ‘80s and ‘90s, and even once found a Weller from ‘84. This is eerily similar. It’s pure old school, and a steal for $20! It reminds me of Dickel, too, which I love.
This is a new hobby for me at 59yrs old and I kinda play around $50 for my first 5 bottles that are beginning of my journey. Of all the RUclips people. I have to say thank you for down to earth price level information when I get home in a few weeks my next 5 bottle buy will be $30 and under you have given me and taken away some of the risk factors of is this a major mistake
Picked up a bottle of Old Tub after watching your fall bourbon video, and it was the only one I could find in my liquor store. Grabbed it and was very impressed what you get for the price. Bottle didn’t last too long, and told too many friends, so you guys definitely contributed to the success of it
I picked up a 375 ml bottle when I was at the Jim Beam distillery in May of 2019. My dad and I enjoyed the bottle together.
easily one of my favorite bourbons in my collection. I bought 10 off the shelf and gave 5 to a friend who loves it too. best $20 bourbon I've ever had. Would pay quite a bit more if I had to.
I'd love to see it compared with Early Times BiB. As soon as this shows up in my state, definitely grabbing it.

Just picked this up for $17 in Philly. I’ve never experienced such a viscous mouth feel before. Its a shade below ogd bonded but a great value.

Another great review, thanks! I can't find Old Tub in Austin, but I'm keeping an eye out for sure! One suggestion, your discussion of Baker's had me thinking that a head to head comparison of Baker's at 107 and JB Single Barrel at 108 would be really interesting.

Was paying 19$ for a fifth in PA. Great value. I was picking up notes of Coca Cola, whiskey and ice mostly when I drank it.

Just picked this up for the first time at my local grocery for $18. A little hot for me, drinks higher than 100 proof. Palate is PEANUT BUTTER!!! Buttered Popcorn and caramel. Delicious.

I've tried this stuff a few times. It's definitely ok for the price and some. Everytime I try it what i get is cinnamon, cinnamon, not just that it suggests an aroma or taste, but to the point where I'd think it was a flavored whiskey with the said spice added. If you told me that I'd be 100 percent it wasn't a metaphor. I can't speak to the Booker's comparison. I'm not rich enough to buy Booker's and compare. I'm not even a big fan of cinnamon, but if you convince me I'm tasign something that's not there--as long as it's not something disgusting--I'm gonna try it. So fun to watch you two debate a drink while I try it!
For the price I'll have to pick a bottle up. Cheers! 🥃

I can't complain about old tub. For a bib it's rather smooth with a Kentucky hug. Fruit.
This definitely punches above its weight class. My go-to daily drinker.

Grabbed me a couple in Newport, KY this past week for $19.99 before tax. Saw it in every liquor store I visited for no more than $21.99. Pretty solid budget BiB I must say 👌

This reminds me more of Bakers Single Barrel. It's like an amped up white label and a scaled down Bakers Single Barrel.

@@ItsBourbonNight It seems to be the same bottle as OGD bonded (down to the cork), it's interesting that it goes towards the Booker's/Baker's/OGD 114 rather than OGD Bonded.

It's Bourbon Night It seems like a smart play for Beam to be in the market segment you (101, HH BiB, ET BiB, etc.,) all discussed in the review. Seems to be lacking in their portfolio. Totally agreed with OGD 114 comparison on nuttiness. Thank you and keep up the great reviews and content.

chad black I bought the HH in ATL on a business trip. I haven’t seen ET BiB in the HSV area yet. Who knows if the ABC will ever get it.
I learned my lesson with Distiller's Cut, gonna bunker a sizable amount if its as good as I hear.

Did anyone compare this to the distillers cut from a few years ago? That was also 100 proof and unfiltered
I like this stuff. It tastes like cheap young bourbon, i.e. simple and hot, but it’s good, like if it had a couple more years in a barrel that it would be on par with the knob. It’s definitely worth buying a bottle to try it out. It’s a fine sipper and probably great for cocktails! Compared to Evan Williams BIB it’s a little less complex but good flavor. It’s bourbon flavored bourbon
How does it compare to the Evan Williams BIB ?

Great...I went to the local liquor superstore here, and there was only one bottle left on the shelf, but they had space for 24. I think the youtube reviewer influence is being felt. There are no bottles left now.

Synthetic corks are far superior to real cork. All day every day. It lasts almost forever, and is a better oxygen barrier and doesn't shrink as it dries.
I despise synthetic corks. I typically have to use channel-lock pliers to get them out so I don't explode a vein in my neck using my hands. The synthetic bonds itself to the glass in the bottle and becomes impossible to break loose without mechanical assistance. Maybe you are built like Arnold. For me they are fucking bullshit.

Similar to Distillers Cut?
Trying it for the first time tonight. Find myself feeling it is very lacking. Seems very thin almost watered down. I don't get much wood from it so I bet it is only old enough to satisfy the BiB. You can also tell just from the color it doesn't have much age. Certainly get the classic peanut but I don't get much sugar, caramel, vanilla, etc notes. I do pick up a little cola like Coca-Cola. Got to say it is a pass for me even at the price point but I really hate to cast judgement on my first glass. Perhaps I am expecting too much at 22$ - in fact - disregard everything I just said and give it a try.
First bourbon this reminded me of was the discontinued Heaven Hill 6. 🤷🏻♂️
