    I am looking to do this because the temps on my dual 2080Tis are hitting 80 when gaming. Some RUclipsrs don’t give you the real deal when it comes fitting a custom loop but this is the most real video I have seen. Your emotions and nervousness come through and that’s the way it should be. PCs and water don’t necessarily mix, and we would all be bricking it when doing this with one of our most prized possessions. It probably is harder to do than it looks, but thanks for being real and giving us an insight into this. Much appreciated. All the best , Marcus - Graham.

  • @Kloppi13
    @Kloppi13 5 лет назад +13

    That was fun to watch and reminded me of my first custom loop :)
    concerning pump noise when idling: you should be able to tune your pump down via pwm to about as low as 25-30% speed and bump it to 50 when under load. It will still create plenty enough flow for a "small" build like this and should be silent. Just test your components under load: you shouldn't see huge temp differences with the pump running at 50% or at 100%.

    i'm in the process of ordering parts for a very custom very scary first build. dual open loop, 2080ti, either 9900k or ryzen3000 depending on reviews, without cpu, mobo, cpu cooler, tubes, fittings, hubs and splitters and such, i've allready gotten over 3k worth of parts... this is going to be an absolute stunner in the looks department and an absolute beast to work/game on.

    • @mustachedmantis5187
      @mustachedmantis5187 5 лет назад

      Dual loops are pretty much useless and pure asthetics, since different tasks cause different workload on gpu and cpu, and if you use just one loop you always can use the full potential of the rads

      That is super clean looking. I'm buying that kit soon with only 1 radiator. But corsairs website says the CPU block won't work with my i9-9900k with the msi mpg z390 gaming pro carbon ac motherboard. Not sure why that is. I sent them an email to see why the website says that, haven't gotten a response yet. I know it works for the i9. Maybe it's the motherboard it isn't compatible with? Doesn't make sense to me.

    I learned a lot from this video - thank you. About to build my first system with my 13 year old son. Just bought the 680x case and similar components. Curious why you didn't vertical mount the GPU and place the pump in the main compartment? Seems those are two components you would want to show off in terms of water cooling / RGB eye candy. The new Corsair line is very nice for beginners and experienced alike but it is also very high priced. There are plenty of companies out there that make water cooling parts and once you've been in it awhile you can find some really good gear for a lot less money. Bykski, Barrow, Primochill come to mind they are not as well known as say EK or even Corsair for that matter but they do make quality parts. It's also much cheaper to buy a DD5 pump and then purchase the pump top and res, normally found together for a better price but can be had individually as well. I'm not knocking Corsair in the least and they do have some gorgeous gear and if it's the look you are wanting there's nothing wrong with paying a bit of a premium. Congrats on your first custom loop and now that you have the bug the fun has just begun. Sadly though so has the drain to your wallet...

    I liked your video, and that you're using a proper cleaning solution to remove the gunk and prep the surfaces. I'd suggest you use white coffee filters rather than paper towels, though. They won't snag, and they're 100% lint free (but they're not as absorbant, so harder to work with).

    Your slim rad don't give you much more cooling than high end air cooling. I made the misstake with my first loop and not i stick with thick rads in a proper watercooling case. Also, the D5 pump is extremely silent. Paired with good low rpm fans (vardar are loud), the loop can be absolutely inaudible at 2m, but at the cost of some cooling of course.

    Corsair's blocks looked very cheap, even the fitting connections look plastic, lots of plastic around the sides (not as much copper on the inside).
    For those who are seriously wanting watercooling components, these are my recommendations.
    Radiators: Hardware Labs Black Ice SR-2 if it fits and you need the extra ports, Nemesis GTX if you don't, Nemesis GTS / Nemesis L-Series (L-Series is 120mm wide in case the 133mm wide won't fit).
    Radiator fans: IMO the best performing for performance to noise are Noctua NF-A12 or Gentle Typhoons. I'm hoping Noctua comes out with the chromax version around the end of this year. If you want RGB, Cosrair's fans are probably the best.
    Pump: Singularity Computers Protium D5 PWM. Nice looking quality D5, and the cables are sleeved in MDPC-X (the best sleeving in the world).
    Reservoir: Singularity Computers Protium combo in the largest size you can comfortably fit. They're a bit expensive, but come with multiple ports on both the top and bottom. It you buy other reservoirs you normally need to buy the multi port cap separately and it costs close to the same. These are also gorgeous.
    Water blocks: I'd recommend either Watercool (Watercool.de) or Aqua Computer water blocks, they perform better than EK and look nicer too. Aqua Computer is a bit more restrictive and I like the look of Watercool blocks a bit more so that's my pick. Stick with a CPU and GPU block. Monoblocks just add unnecessary heat from the VRM into your loop and the VRM is made to run hot anyway. They also add unnecessary restriction.
    Fittings: I have always used Bitspower fittings. Just make sure you get fitting that have a compression ring. The "push in" ones are more error prone.
    Tubing: Most people will recommend PETG tubing because it's supposedly easier to work with. It is in a way, because you can cut it with a pipe cutter and it's easier to melt / bend, but I actually think acryllic is easier overall because it's easier to deburr and the bends aren't as prone to mashing in at the aides like PETG. I use Singularity Computers 16mm OD acryllic tubing.

    how have you found the tubing? ive used 2 lots of clear tubing from different companies and both clouded within weeks. i used to use primochill pro ltr clear which was faultless, however it isnt available in the UK anymore.... is the tubing still as clear as when you first installed it?

    How did you mount your pump in the back part ? Does it come with a bracket to mount it up there?

    I can't wait to be judged but...
    If I have a prebuilt water-cooled PC, do I need to worry about much? If so, can someone tell me a few things I should consider?
