    Just took the masking tape off my E39 and, while it’s not perfect (first time doing this!) it’s a massive improvement. Thanks so much for your help on this one and your other videos. Headlight lenses next!

      @Callum Liddle That's fantastic! Great job buddy! And thank you for the feedback I really appreciate it 😊 👍🏻 The headlight lenses will be fun to do the difference will be night and day 😃

      @@TheBimmerFixer something occurred to me while working on my car today: the windscreen wiper arms appear to be a similar plasticoat over aluminium finish. Do you think a similar approach could be taken to refreshing windscreen wiper arms? Any tips?

      @Callum Liddle Hi Callum yes absolutely, it would be the exact same process as you and i did with the wingmirror. It's great to hear you're looking at giving that a go too 👍🏻 faded or corroded wiper arms can really make a difference to the look of the car so go for it 👍🏻😃

    Good job. Was thinking of removing the mirror to do this but I don't think its worth the bother.

      Thank you! Yeah don't worry about removing it just some tape and some plastic bags and you're good to go. Just slip the bags into the gaps 👍

    Perfect timing for me this mate. I’ve just got a carbon black E60 and finished a full 3 step paint correction so it’s gleaming but BOTH my wing mirrors are horrendous. Worse than this.
    Was debating this or just getting a used set but I might just give this a go. How did it looks once it dried out and did it last? Or did you need to coat with some sort of laquer? Ta mate

      @jayroberts4900 Hi mate, I'm glad you found the video when you did 👍🏻. I bet she looks amazing after the 3 step correction especially in carbon black in the sun! 👌🏼
      Definitely worth a go mate. It dried with a slight matt finish and is still going strong now. 👍🏻

      @@TheBimmerFixer brilliant mate. Did you use any primer or lacquer before and after?

    • @TheBimmerFixer
      @TheBimmerFixer  9 месяцев назад

      @jayroberts4900 Hello mate, no that paint I used could go straight onto metal. I just made sure all the dust was off it and degreased 👍🏻

      @@TheBimmerFixer ta man! I’ve been waiting for a decent day but the weather over here is just shocking isn’t it. Did you get it done in one day with heat gun? I finish work most days at 12:30 in the day so hoping to have it done by 6-7pm, or am I not being realistic with that? I have a heat gun on stand by

      @jayroberts4900 No problem mate. Yeah the weather has been rotten hasn't it! That should be enough time mate especially if you have the heat gun too. You should be all good👍🏻

      @George Austers Hey buddy literally just watching your microswitch video. Yeah it definitely did when the paint was fresh luckily after a few days it dulled down and matched much better.

    Do you have to clear coat it

    • @TheBimmerFixer
      @TheBimmerFixer  7 месяцев назад

      @chrisdavis5861 No, that paint goes straight on and you don't need to clear coat it. If you wanted a shiny finish you can get a gloss finish, saves you having to clear coat it👍🏻

      Sorry again, mine is starting to bubble up at the bottom of the triangle it's a gloss black finish, should I prime it after rubbing down before painting.

    • @TheBimmerFixer
      @TheBimmerFixer  7 месяцев назад

      @chrisdavis5861 No need to be sorry I'm happy to help. It will depend on the paint you use some paints like the one I used don't need primer but some will need primer, based coat and clear coat. Hope that helps.

    What is it like after the sawing of the aluminum? Any degreaser or what?

    • @TheBimmerFixer
      @TheBimmerFixer  2 года назад

      @Tomas Hruby.. Hi Tomas it weathered really well no problems and looks as good as it did when I did I last year. Especially if I polish it too.

    NEVER EVER use a Heat Gun on a pressurized tin of paint!! It's could EXPLODE!!!

    • @TheBimmerFixer
      @TheBimmerFixer  27 дней назад

      @kevinmatson I would like to think people wouldn't hold it on there for long enough for it to explode. But I see your point.
