- Considering the Sidecar is a classic cocktail, it stands to reason there would be a standardized, unassailable recipe for this sour, but no such luck. While historians and bartenders have debated the proper proportions of Cognac, orange liqueur, and lemon juice for this drink, there remains disagreement over the best recipe. However, our resident bartender Jason O’Bryan has tried every iteration he can find and believes he has found the most outstanding version you can make. So on this episode of Cocktails for Grownups, he shows you how to mix an excellent, well-balanced Sidecar at home.
You can find all of Jason's weekly columns, with new recipes publishing every Saturday afternoon, over at Robb Report: robbreport.com...

Would love to see more of these videos!
I love that he said grown up drinking. I do feel more of an adult when I order a Hennessy sidecar
The acid balance is dependent on the method the citrus is extracted. The citrus will be more intense if the squeezed using a press, as some of the peel's oils and zest will go into the drink.
I first made this drink after googling what I could do with just a bottle of brandy and cointreau. I did have adjust most of the recipes as they were either too tart or too sweet but it's a fantastic drink!
Well done! Great Sidecar! It IS really about the depth of the cognac!
Great video with great tips. I like learning cocktail recipes. I do several on my channel as well. Can you do one on brandy vs cognac?
Yummy 🧡
Try this with a well aged Armagnac (30y.o+) and tell me it's not better!
👏🏻🍸👍🏻😋
We have been liking it with gran marnier. personal preference is all that counts, but love to hear your thoughts on gm vs Cointreau. fwiw, c is the only thing I'll use in a margarita
