I'm super looking forward to trying the Champs-Elysee, as I have all the ingredients ready-to-go, but "Green Chartreuse, one-half ounce, or 30mL..." ...do you mean 15mL? Or one full ounce? It looks like one half when you pour it in.. .
I'm sipping a Pegu Club - made with Empress gin - as I type. It's DELICIOUS - refreshing, complex, and perplexing. (In a good way!) My sweetie said it like a much more sophisticated margarita. Since I need to keep my wits about me, I added about two ounces of soda water after my first few sips of the cocktail as prescribed. Still delicious - almost like champagne, but better. Thanks Nick! This is going to be my go-to cocktail next summer.
Re etymology, I prefer the explanation of Andrew Willet from Elemental Mixology (btw a much better historical companion than Jerry Thomas or even David Wondrich). Basically, the idea is that this drink was longer than the usual 2-ounce standard, so that when you mixed it you needed an extra glass for the overflow, i.e. a metaphorical side car to this revving engine of a motorcycle drink.
I always enjoy your videos and usually try out one or more of the drinks. Do you not put specs on the screen or in the comments so I have to watch the video again when i go to make them?
Haha, I'm just busting your balls. Pero en serio, I tried a sidecar once but I think it failed due to poor quality Cognac (and probably lacking fresh citrus). I'll try this recipe, with these bottles, and see if I get something better from it!
The second one is like an orangey gimlet...funny enough, the first time I made a gimlet (after watching your video!) I decided I thought it would be better with some Cointreau!
God I've watched you for years just out of interest, or maybe the classiness that is mixology. I've now started a bartending job and looking at these vids from more an educational standpoint than entertainment!
My favorite bar in my hometown has a drink based around the Champs-Élysées. Replace the brandy with a rye and, if I remember correctly, a dash of Peychauds bitters, and then you have a French Carpenter. Still one of my go to cocktails.
Great video! I have never tried any of these cocktails. Don’t think I’ll make it, but I’ll order it next time I’m out and about. Haha you’re daughter’s adorable. She’s way bigger now. Time flies huh Nick!? Haha
Wouldn't it be more reasonable to say that the Sidecar was based on Thomas's brandy daisy recipe? After all, the crusta is basically a daisy with extra garnish and a sugared rim.
I love your videos but cann you please list out the specific ingredients in your video description? It really helps to follow up on the recipe to know what to get without having to look through the entire video to catalogue everything
I adore the Suntory Roku gin. I use that with a splash of the cointreau to make my gin n tonics. The Rogue Spruce Gin also makes for an interesting twist.
We totally need to do a video together. It’ll be a great video and exchange of ideas and info. You make the drinks and I’ll amaze you with my immense knowledge of BS.

She's a real cutie... congratulations again on being a Dad!
Only a true father can secure his child from falling back of a sofa with a leg. Respect man.
Dad reflexes is a branch of Jedi force :)
Recipes in the description olease
3:22 "Intrical"
ah yes, every white dudes favorite word that doesn't exist.
Oh, abrupt ending, lol
The Champs-Élysées is one of my favorites! As soon as I saw sidecar in the title I thought you might be doing this as an alternate!
Me too. Fantastic drink.
One of my go to cocktails, vastly underrated IMO. Never had the champs-elysees, I'll have to try that!
Given it's almost Halloween now, any chance of a Halloween themed cocktails video?

My bad, half oz
You know, I'd really appreciate it you put the recipe in the bit of text beneath the video. :P
For a moment I thought there would be a Danger 5 reference. This drink looks tasty as heck, though.
Oof, this drink has put me on my ass quite a few times in my 20s.
Can't wait to make it again!
I learned 3 new cocktails today. Thanks!
I love this! Cant wait to see this channel absolutely blow up.

The Champs Elysees try
50ml Brandy
22.5ml green chartreuse
22.5ml lemon juice
10ml simple syrup
2 dashes of angostura bitters.
The English and metric volume measurements on the Champs Elysees was inaccurate.
You said 1/2 ounce = 30mls but 1/2 oz=15mls
I always enjoy your videos and usually try out one or more of the drinks. Do you not put specs on the screen or in the comments so I have to watch the video again when i go to make them?
On the website, linked in the description. Much easier to follow there IMO
This video reminds me of that archer episode with Veronica Dean where she says “I’ll have a double sidecar, french.”
Haha, I'm just busting your balls.
Pero en serio, I tried a sidecar once but I think it failed due to poor quality Cognac (and probably lacking fresh citrus). I'll try this recipe, with these bottles, and see if I get something better from it!
I just picked up a bottle of Chartreuse after browsing around the liquor store. Was wondering what I could mix with it…sidecar Chartreuse it is!!
The second one is like an orangey gimlet...funny enough, the first time I made a gimlet (after watching your video!) I decided I thought it would be better with some Cointreau!
Tommy Paul probably watching this video and crying at his poorly lit bar
Awesome video!!! I love my Sidecars!!! I like to use Asbach, a German brandy in mine. I call it the "Beiwagon"......
Put the recipe in the description. Most viewers appreciate that. Thanks for the video
Nick, if I drove the motorcycle, would you ride in my sidecar?
Gonna drink that!
1.5 oz is not 30 mL, 1oz is 30 ML. I really like that you supply measure, emt in both mozzzz inn mL. Just get trhat 1 iz is 30 mL!
Not too expensive? Think I bought that bottle for $90 at my place. Unless I got a different one
I swear by Ferrand Dry Curacao - but I do feel as "dry" as it might be, it is also quite sweet - does that make sense?
Love a good sidecar! You’re great, man
Happy good video l like
can you make Sean locks countdown cocktail.
Cocktail tiem
Please get the amouth right: 1oz is 30 mL!
Where did u buy this icons thery r in ur apron?

Love the Ferrand 1840 for cocktails. Great video!

Sidecars are super delicious so long as they’re made with booze. The other kind just leave a metallic taste in the mouth.
Great video! I have never tried any of these cocktails. Don’t think I’ll make it, but I’ll order it next time I’m out and about. Haha you’re daughter’s adorable. She’s way bigger now. Time flies huh Nick!? Haha

what's the other cognac brand he mentioned in the beginning?
Bertoux. It's officially a brandy that can't be a cognac because it's not from the Cognac region of France.
I love your videos but cann you please list out the specific ingredients in your video description? It really helps to follow up on the recipe to know what to get without having to look through the entire video to catalogue everything

After watching this channel for a while now, each time I hear take 5 anywhere I wanna mix myself a drink. What have you done to my life😂
Was it just me or was your video really too short at the end? No clue - I don’t make videos- but isn’t the term an outro?
Hands down one of my favorite cocktails, but almost none of the bartenders in my area know how to make it.
Finally, someone remembers the sidecar.
I love the sidecar. I really need to play around more. I've got so many good books to try.
OMG Y'all are both adorable!!!
Great sofa to rest when drunk 👌
Nice, gonna try the last one
YES MY FAVORITE GIN
awesome drink
Haha, just made a sidcar, done about 30 seconds before after this video was uploaded.
Cheers 🥃🥃
I don't know why I like watching this. I don't even drink.
Thank you for the recommendation of Pierre Ferrand! I'm really enjoying it. I prefer it over Remy
The sidecar was one of my early fave cocktails
