Being a man who's been shot at(accidentally) I can honestly say this game captures the feeling of being shot at like absolutely no other game could hope to do. The snap of the rounds flying by you then you hear a whizzing sound meaning that round was waaay closer. Makes my hair stand up on my neck and my adrenaline flies to the apex.

Yea but it's the only game that puts up to a 5 man squad against solo players. This balance is why I dont play as much as I'd like and have to wait for friends to be on. I've also found solo to be boring as well. Sometimes you dont run into anybody as there is only a handful of players and they are all in squads most likley. Solo matchmaking would get so many more people playing eft on a regular and raids would feel more chaotic running into more players throughout the map.

Tarkov is successful but they are on the edge of being failing. I say this because given Tarkov's history they really do need to take things slowly. Not only are gamers inhospitable to this these days, they are condemning of failures. Other games are going to keep throwing spaghetti at a wall until Tarkov goes back to being known for it's amazing gun and modding features, because frankly Tarkov is still made by a majority gun lovers and less actual developers. Compounded with real world events that are hamstringing potential development for Russian based development, it's going to be unpredictable what the future is.

After roughly 4000 hours since I started playing Tarkov at the very beginning of alpha... I can without a doubt say that it has made me a better player at other FPS games. Using strategic movement and the aiming mechanics that I've learned through experience in tarkov definitely translate into other FPS. Hell, even bought "way of the hunter" the other day and since I'm learning the mechanics of it, realized that it;s not always one shot one kill, I was able to at distance, land a perfect headshot and I owe that to learning aiming in Tarkov.

There’s nothing like the rollercoaster of emotion you feel playing EFT in any other game. It’s amazing how much I love the game, yet if I start a session off with a bad raid or even a good raid with a dumb death, it’ll make me not wanna play the game and I’d even switch to another game entirely right away, but when I have a good first raid of a session, or I’m just in a really good mindset or whatever, I’ll end up staying on for hours and hours grinding and having a blast! I can’t wait until I eventually save up the money to build a decent PC instead and play the game with good performance rather than using my old ass PC, cuz I still love the game to death and have fun with it barely getting 60 fps on most maps

When I bought the game and entered my first raid I didn't even gear up because I thought I could just find stuff everywhere like a BR. It was shoreline and I spawned in the swamp. I entered each building expecting tons of loot and I found fuck all. Funny that tweak said BR spawned EFT because that's the kind of game I was enjoying before this. Now nothing can live up to eft and that may be a bad thing. Kind of how porn has desensitized us from sex.

What makes tarkov so great is the risk associated with everytime you press "ready". The second you load into a raid everything you've just spend hours or days working toward is on the line with no guarantee that you'll have it in 20 minutes. The pressure to play intelligently makes it fun because you lose something if you fail. You also always have something to do, whether that be progressing your quests or hideout or traders there's always a next step. With Call of Duty all you're really playing for is some new gun unlocks which you probably don't care to use anyways. Yes, just running around and trying to kill people and not die can be fun, it will never replicate the gravity of death in tarkov.
What really makes tarkov great for me is that I enjoy games that are realistic. Not in terms of gameplay or being an actual milsim, but in terms of their weaponry and gear. Its a nice change of pace to see ammo choice matter like it does in real life. Its nice that m855 will penetrate armor that M193 will not, just like in real life. Its nice to be able to put most any attachment on any gun that it can fit on and not be blocked for no reason. Its nice that all the attachments and gear are real items that you can go online and buy with real money and actually own and use.
Additionally, the medical system in tarkov is just the right balance of complex and streamlined. You don't heal just because you haven't been shot in 10 seconds like with CoD, but you also don't have to wrap each individual bandage around your arm manually.
With all that being said, I personally would like to see tarkov become a bit less bullet spongey and a bit less w key friendly. Yes, armors should stop bullets that they would actually stop in reality. But you shouldn't be able to get shot point blank with m80 ball and just keep on going like nothing happened. Make that shit knock you flat on your ass. A shot to a 3a helmet from a 45 ACP is still probably gonna knock you out or at least concuss you to high hell. I also would like to see full auto not be the meta since its never used (except on lmgs) irl. Not sure the best way to implement that, but its a change I would like.
Tarkov is a great game that always keeps you on your toes, it has an interesting and unique customization and medicalsystem and is also a great learning tool that has been getting lots of people into real world firearms, which is always great to see

when u get hit in the thorax ur stamina is gone, doesnt knock you on your ass but it still achieves a similar result. when u get hit in the head it does concuss you. i feel that concussion in the game is good where it is - when u get hit in the head u cant rlly see much at all, making you 'concussed to high hell'. i feel full auto will always be the meta. they would need to rework a lot of things if you want 'realism', to which the game wouldnt be tarkov anymore. imagine everybody just holding angles and not pushing, nobody would be getting kills and the fight wont progress well because nobody wants to get hit in the chest or body part with a bullet and just fall unconscious in the middle of nowhere. at that point u may as well play arma or squad with how slow the gameplay would be.
i believe that w key enjoyers are what makes pvp in tarkov scarier and much more enjoyable because they are clear threats to your safety, and just knowing that there is some highly skilled player running around with no fear keeps me even more on edge. i personally do enjoy using the w key, and i feel that the movement changes that bsg have made recently have been sufficient in 'nerfing' the w key. but that is just my opinion

    And _that_ feeling!

  • @henryyang802

Small nitpick: Battle State Game didn't really design Tarkov based on the ideas from Battle Royale genre. The initial idea was to have a something similar to an FPS MMORPG insipired by the classic MMOs where you actually lost everything when you died like Everquest, Tibia, Runescape etc with realisitic elements. The devs also had a history in Mil-sim so that is sort of where they come from (I think...). Originally, it was intended to be we-against the scavs. However Friendly fire is a thing in realistic cases, and almost nothing is as profitable as looting a dead PMC, so prisoner's dilemma sort of set in so everyone was also trying to murder each other and the scavs. This including the element of extraction (that has it's roots in Milsim, I think?) they sort of accidentally invented this genre.
So while it looks like it came from Battle Royale, PvPvE Extraction games are actually developed from a different branch from Battle Royal (although, it looks like both originated in a sense from milsim, considering the first prototype of a mainstream battle royale was a mod to ARMA)

Tarkov is just different the highs the lows the satisfaction of competing a difficult quest winning a tough gunfight or walking out with all the loot in the lobby. I've never in 20 years of gaming experienced anything that ticks the same boxes. The heart flutters I've gotten on some of the shooter born kills I've gotten have been unique. I sniped a man from camp site past lumber back to RUAF. 360 meters over 1000 feet headshot to complete woods section of shooter born with a 4x. This is my second wipe first full one what you said is so true I feel like this is my first time gaming and learning it making friends joined discords it's just been something special.

  • @BryceAshton
    @BryceAshton Год назад

Tarkov is good for the following reasons:
    - High intensity, driven by a strong risk/reward dynamic. Kill or be killed.
    - Rewarding progression. The questing system is brutal and obtuse, and honestly not well designed in so many ways - but simply having a task system overlayed on top of the punishing gameplay loop makes progression feel important. Progression is simultaneously a big reason why Tarkov is so fun, but also one of the most neglected and poorly designed systems by BSG.
    - Customization. Tarkov presents you with a lot of choices about what gear, ammunition, and choices you can make when you enter a raid. This is also a system that has significantly eroded over time, especially as the issues with the recoil system and poor armor balancing have become more clear and have been exacerbated with the recoil increases & flea market restrictions last wipe. Still, it remains an important system.

IMHO the magic of EFT is each player in raid can have a different "victory condition" and it's possible for multiple players to achieve their "victory condition" in a single raid. Compare this to a typical Battle Royale where in each game there can only be a single winner. (And why play when you're probably going to lose 99% of the time?)
Quests also mean players have to work towards different victory conditions and adopt different playstyles. The in-game economy and the possibility of losing any gear you bring into raid sets up a variety of risk vs reward scenarios. EFT has a level of complexity which a typical FPS can't match.

    10 wipe vet here.
If you play Tarkov you got an hard choice to do : play it or let it beside.
If you play it from time to time and hop on and off newer games , the no Life chads will shit you out of the game.
What makes tarkov so good for me are the intense fights. The first contact , the nade spam after the sightline breaks up the circling around trying to get an angle and than the prize. Win or lose all.
It’s a bit demolished by the yolo speed atm where running and jumping around like sonic the hedgehog is key. But this feels good. Same for hunt.
All the other die and respawn fps can’t transfer the feeling of the gamble.

  • @zoneoperator

The mid to late game in Tarkov lacks a lot of punch. In the mid game your just trying to grind out certain tasks like shooter born kills, or killing scavs in certain areas or gear specific kills. Late game is honestly pretty boring, the quests are done and its just a PvP farm. Load up a kit with 7.62 BP or M61 and the PvP is on easy street. Even deaths don't feel bad in the mid-late game because I've got so much money I just re-kit instantly to go raid again.
Hopefully when the story based quests come out in 2060 it's all some longevity to the objective oriented gameplay.

Skill in tarkov is honestly 70% knowing the maps and knowing where things are. Other then that knowing the mechanics and the ammo is another big part.
Only thing I’m sick of with tarkov is the quest line, I’ve done the quest line over 7 times now and I’m so unmotivated to task now but they have made it so you HAVE TO DO TASKS to have access to high lvl traders. You should have the option when the game wipes to not wipe quest progress and just have some other way to make your xp back to lvl them. I definently liked tarkov more when the was no found in raid m, it made the game way more pvp focused because you could make good money on player gear.

Tarkov is a fantastic game, there is no doubt. It also has great potential which I hope it will fully manifest in time.
There is a game though, that I'm going to start suggesting to some of you Tarkov streamers whom I have come to appreciate (Aqua, Hex, you, even Eroktic and Klean): Empyrion Galactic Survival. It is a VERY different game from Tarkov, but there are also a few overlaps, that I think you will find interesting. The two major deficiencies in EGS: (a) by default (without mods), death is not really consequential enough; (b) the gun play is pretty basic.
What does it offer? Exploring literally an entire galaxy of solar systems, each with anywhere from 1 to 30 celestial bodies, designing your own space ships block-by-block, and with the right mods (Reforged Eden) an experience that is incredibly challenging and involves amazing progression and complexity.

It's a good game. Get rid of the cheaters. Give us the content promised since the start and release the damn game already and then it'll be great. I wouldn't go as far as saying that it ruins the fps genre. Tarkov is a game you need to have no life to play and play religously. Games like cod and bf are more quick and you don't lose progress when you die. More of an easier experience. I think, depending on how much spare time you have in life can change which game is suitable to you.

I played eft for around 1800 hours straight. Tbh I thought this was true that it ruined other games but honestly I think it's not true anymore. After a while those other games become more appealing imo. However I also don't like that tarkovs gun fights basically aren't fights anymore and are just insta kill shitfests which to me personally is a big negative to the game. So for me as someone who strongly believes longer ttk's are better for pretty much most fps games I find tarkov now a bit un fun now a days personally. It does 100% have a hook that none of the others have at all which is why its got this stigma of it ruining other games. Strong progression system. Great customisation for weapons. Good map design. Good gameplay loop and ultimately it's massively engaging at all points.
