There’s a distinct possibility of a portion of the massive, more casual COD audience trying out DMZ as their first gateway to extraction shooters and then transitioning to EFT once they get a taste for it

@@Tryppin Bro, all these dudes hyping this up to be a Tarkov killer. All I see is The Cycle : Frontier with a quasi-realistic setting. Their version of "looting" will be shooting a opponent and watching a bunch of candy-coated guns pop out of them.
they can come at me when you can loot 3 different types of cigarette lighters and over 80 types of ammunition. When a game comes out like that then I'll pay attention.

@@sebjep development seems a bit slow with some strange decisions here and there, but I'm not really sure what you mean. The most frustrating change for me would have to be the damage drop off for intermediate caliber weapons, you can no longer 1 tap someone in the head past 100 yards with 5.56/5.45. This change bothered me more than anything else they have ever done and is incredibly unrealistic but I get why they did it, they wanted 308 guns/dmrs to be the weapon of choice for extended ranges

...Nothing will come close to Tarkov. This will just be a new mode tagged onto the main game. CoD will still be CoD.

After hearing that DMZ uses the Same map as WZ2, I feel like it’s not gonna have anything like traders/ shops or ingame mechanics. I don’t think you’re gonna extract with any loot or gear since creating a Gamemode like that takes a LOT of work & they are not advertising it enough for it to be such a huge thing.
Idk, maybe I’m stupid but I think it’s just gonna be a fun mode where you can level up guns, do any challenges or quests to progress battlepass/ level.
I seriously doubt tarkov will be killed. Cod barely even supports their own game modes so you can imagine since tarkov is its own genre which specializes in its own game mode cod will already barely put resources into it and it won’t be in nearly as much depth as tarkov.
I welcome this. Tarkov devs could sit on glaring issues because there was no competition. If this DMZ comes out with a better game play and sinks Tarkov it could provide incentive to revamp and streamline the game to what players have long complained about. This is a big if, battlefield tried but failed and hopefully call of duty studied the lessons learned from that.

Dice needs to fire the entire battlefield development team and start from scratch, it's like the people making modern battlefield games don't actually play video games themselves
I've been trying to rack my head around how dmz will work. My guess at the minute is you will still loot and kill but trade in loot for xp at the end of the 'raid'. This will unlock weapons/attachments etc. This then negates the need for a stash and traders. Just a guess but that's mine

It's not going to be anything near a Tarkov killer. Tarkov just has an insane amount of depth, which is something AAA titles have been missing for years. COD is the last franchise I'd expect to make this good. It sounds like they're focused on the "extraction" part of the gameplay, rather than the in between parts of the raid.
I'm not saying one thing or the other but cod has killed alot of games. It may or may not be a matter of time
How is cod the last franchise to make it good? If anything there the most well equipped. Mw2019 looks great, sounds great, and has good gunplay. Mw2 is an improvement on all those fronts. They have tons of money to throw into it, tons of studios, and well obviously be able to optimize it and make it more accessible for everyone.
I really hope for it to be a tarkov killer. I hope.

I hope this mode kicks off well, because competition breeds excellence. BSG has been sitting on their pretty little asses for years now, seeing something slightly close to what Tarkov is, will push BSG to work faster and dish out more QOL improvements, better optimization, and additional content.

Competition for BSG is fantastic! I really hope DMZ is good. I always like Infinity Ward's take on COD compared to the other devs that tend to go more arcadey.. Competition puts pressure on BSG to get Arena and Streets out faster!
I was watching the entire video and was thinking "What about Battlefield?" That was first attempt of an AAA company at Tarkov style game. It was called Hazard Zone and they stopped support for it after 6 months from game release. I can't see how a player who likes all the mechanics of Tarkov would play a game with mechanics of Call of Duty instead. There are those of course, but they are already playing CoD, Apex and other games as well

5:16 the game has been in development allegedly for 4 years. It was suppose to come with modern warfare 2019 but they couldn’t push it out on time so they delayed it to MWII.

I think the biggest reason why DMZ won’t affect Tarkov much is I can’t imagine DMZ has any semblance of a story. The freakin campaigns rarely have a compelling story so how can we expect even the same from a multiplayer focused game? Not worried about DMZ and I bet it will be quite disappointing.

I'm sure the game mode will be great, but it's the depth that makes Tarkov stand out. Keybinds, health system, weapon system, epic. Imagine COD designing a mode where you're going onto a map with a gun that could potentially jam on you. Picking up weapons and having no clue how much ammo is in a clip unless you remove the clip and remove the ammo. Or you check the mag and only get "full, half, near full, near empty". Having a stamina and hydration system. Just the game mechanics alone is enough to make Tarkov standout more than COD. At best, it'll be a casual version.

To answer your question: No, because from what I have heard described so far it is in no way a direct competitor to Tarkov and will basically have no effect, just like Cycle.

not playing eft atm, im sick of the wipes, doing all the quests over and over again is no fun to me personally. so im looking forward to dmz to give me something to play until eft stops wiping

From what people have been saying, this has been in development since 2018 when MW 2019 was being made. This is sounding like 2019 was the beta for this game.

They just didn't gets it: it's nothing about extraction; it's the pain you could feel, or cause to others, through the screen that makes it Tarkov.
Being that its Activision.. I worry that DMZ will have some form of SBMM and/or split queues like solo/duo/quads etc rather than the brutal and completely randomness that Tarkov brings, which can certainly screw u but also certainly reward u!

I think IW will only let it die if Activision forces them to. They’ve been working on it since 2019, and it’s clearly a passion project, hell they bugged Activision with it and were told they could only do it, should MW19 do well, which it’s fair to say, it did.
If dmz is any good and get some support I think all of the casuals who don't have even time to proper grind tarkov will move over, but tarkov won't be ended by this
DMZ is gunna be like every CoD before it that copied another series ideas, dead in 3 months after release. People want NEW and INNOVATIVE, games/gametypes. Not copypastas. Gamers arn't stupid but the CoD devs certainly seem to be, incapable of being creative on their own.
If anything, it will draw some of the casual Tarkov players and the Warzone players. It won’t touch the core Tarkov audience, except for maybe the next couple months.
Afterwards, everyone will hop back on Tarkov, especially if new content comes next wipe.

I might pick it up if Cod runs better than Tarkov does. Shits always been to resource hungry. I can't justify spending the kind of money I'd need to play Tarkov at an acceptable level and not overheat after one raid.
Tarkov has always been a game for people with money to blow and time to kill. The rest of us have limited time and bills to pay.
Using a 1080 working fine playing tarkov working 10 hour days 4 to 5 days a week while keeping up with social life. It’s definitely possible.

Unless the damage in dmz is set to hard-core mode damage and hud I have zero interest. War zone damage and hud are gross. Either way it would be a shallow game, which would lose my interest quickly.

I think if alot of people like DMZ it only brings more people to tarkov.. tarkov is the only game of its type and dmz may be similar, maybe.. it only unlocks this type of game to new people who will now search for similar games.. I expect a massive influx of people in a few months on tarkov.. unless dmx mode is a flop

This isn't battlefield though. Besides 2042 in general was a shit game. CoD is also a larger franchise and has a lot more money and focus put into it.

there is about a 1% chance that they create a game that scratches the same itch as tarkov. A hardcore gun-nerd russian/soviet lore shooter with autistic levels of weapon customization that heavily punishes death and makes killing other players a total adrenaline rush no matter how long you play.... i dont think a triple A developer is capable of replicating a game like tarkov, they have not made a game like this ever, i cant name one. having said that Warzone is an excellent game, COD has a special place in my heart, BUT it is absolutely not Tarkov and never will be. Tarkov is the most fulfilling and satisfying FPS i have ever played and I will die on that hill.

The real big problem for COD is the strongest AIM ASIST ever seen in games. for kbm players .... you better play it on controller. now - I don't think it will better than Tarkov, but we must give them the respect and chance. the massive success they pulled off with warzone says they can pull of another one. and it is clear that they marked downs in their checklist that they are going into extraction mode business, and these guys mean business.
Realism wise I highly doubt we will see it here on this call of duty game, basically more kids will play this game because it's free

Tarkov will always have a fan base. It will never truly die in that sense. Even if the player base dwindles for a bit it always picks back up, Unless COD took everything good about Tarkov weapons, gear etc.. and left the bad and fixed everything broken then also had an anti cheat that worked maybe just maybe people would leave Tarkov! This isn't clickbait, he's asking a question and then going over his opinion. And yea no shit It's not going be as realistic as tarkov but not everyone is playing tarkov just because it's realistic. There's a good chance that if dmz is good it will pull a decent chunk of tarkov players. They could also slow down movement and make changes to make the mode more tactical. It's also going be more accessible allowing console players to play, run better, and have better support. This means that people who have friends on console or can't run tarkov well will probably play this mode if its done well.

@@dtheguy I do feel like the statement this is going kill said game is very overused and has lost it actual meaning. I think most people realistically know it's not going kill said game but people love to say it and be over dramatic.
I do though think that if this mode is done well it can definitely affect a good chunk of the player base definitely with a lot of the issues that do exist in tarkov. I've always dreamed of a tarkov with triple A polish and while it's not going be the same if it's fun and can scratch that extraction mode itch, and with the polish, optimization, and ability to play with console players tarkov is definitely going have some competition. Which is great as it may make battlestate do better quality updates and maybe even get some new players into tarkov that normally wouldn't have tried since they wouldn't have played an extraction based mode until dmz.
