thanks for this dude, I was able to seamlessly open ATS on Quest 3 via steamlink after following your video and reading your instructions. 40-45ish fps (laptop with 3070ti). BUT MAN, I felt dizzy after 5 minutes of driving. I almost threw up (but it is more of a "me" problem). I just got got the Quest 3 today and trying ATS with it was the first thing I did (maybe a bad decision) I think I should start with games with less motion.
Do you use any form of pass-through software to see your peripherals like steering wheel or button box? That's my one hangup when it comes to ATS/ETS in VR. Thanks for the awesome video!
Didn’t work for me. But I use Pimax. When the game starts, it’s like steam vr home wants to stay in background with a banner of the game overlaying home. And the head movement doesn’t even work. I did notice in the config file that there was no “ignore hmd “ line at all, but I put it in manually. But could t get game to work properly. So, will have to keep playing on triple surround monitors til I figure it out. Good video tho👍

Go in your Steam to Collections, select American Truck Simulator, and click the ‘Manage’ cog ⚙️ icon Then select Properties Then Betas Then in Beta Participation select Oculus - Oculus+OpenVR+OpenXR 1.53 Then in General Type in Advanced Launch Options -openvr (Make sure you type a minus - before openvr) Now retry

Coz I’ve noticed when you turn it on and off, it wants to update the game each time with a 6gb update. I’m assuming there isn’t a way but thought I could ask. Because like today, it’s hot, so, don’t really fancy playing vr in the heat
@pinkypoofficial The file is located in Documents / American Truck Simulator not in the main game files, if you look in File Explorer and on the left hand side you will see the Documents tab
I noticed when playing the game sometimes slows down bad, and the picture gets super blurry. I'm running a 4070, so I have no clue if my graphics card isn't strong enough. I have all my settings the same as yours.

@@BoltyX86 Thanks, however I’m unable to comment on the PSVR2 as its not a Wi-Fi device using Open VR, it does run Steam VR using a driver as its a direct display port connected device via USB C so this video may not relate to it directly, but will be interested in your findings 🙂
I'm also using my psvr2. I got it dialed during the day. It's night time I'm having a big issue with. It'll tear, skip and glitch which can cause headaches. I've tired numerous things, however I've yet to try adjusting these settings.
@nextlevelsimgaming correct. I actually set the resolution for the psvr2 on SteamVR @ 2040x2080 (it's per eye) it was at 100% which was WAY off in resolution, it doesn't give me the option for the correct setting's on the OpenXR toolkit, I have that setting at the proper setting. I also had to go to ATS file on steam and change the load option to -openxr, when it was on -openvr that's when the resolution was horrible, day or night. I have to watch your video again and see what you changed on the config file and see if that'll do it. I'll report back 😎
I cannot get the headset to work (in cab views) Left to Right the controllers are Wayyyyyyyy to fast and I do not want to use controllers or my mouse to look around (that was my reason for purchasing the Meta Quest 3s. I just want to be able to look around in my cab, look for traffic etc. HELP!!!!!!!
i have a question as a beginner of vr i have quest 3 and i've been using it connected through cable and if i want to use a cable can i use it to pcvr and i can't since i will uninstall oculus app
@@ILLUSI_N You will need the Oculus app for Oculus Link, however you can download Virtual Desktop and still use a wired connection, it is far superior to the Meta software, and available to download from Meta Horizon app store

Hi. When I start the game there is a black net with shapes like quest lenses. Middle of the screen is sharp, sides are out of focus a bit. Any Idea what can it be? TIA
@@Steadymobbin711 Yes, the Oculus app drains system resources, open task manager and look at the running processes, providing you have fast Wi-Fi, your PC hard wired to your router, ideally Wi-Fi 6E run it in Steam VR, OpenVR and you will find it can run stable at the highest settings 😎

I also use Virtual Desktop for wired client, and previously with the Pico 4. I am collecting a Pimax Crystal Light at the weekend so will be doing a comparison between the different clients. Oculus is an incredibly process heavy app with a number of background processes even when not launched open in task manager and you will see

@@taxi615 Well worth it, the weakest point of the Quest unfortunately is the Oculus software, Steam Link is amazing now especially if you have a WiFi 6E router
@@BOTG_Adventures Its a difficult one mate unfortunately. ATS and ETS are not native VR games, its very dependent on a lot of variables such as PC connection to router via Ethernet and Wi-Fi from router to headset recommendation is 5G or ideally Wi-Fi 6E speed must be over 250mbps to get a good experience. Then PC specifications come into play. Another frustrating factor is SCS then updates the game causing other issues, essentially rendering guides obsolete already. I am already having issues personally after the latest 1.53 update so am already updating mods, adjusting settings etc. Just unfortunately one of the frustrations of this game
What if ive done all this and still can’t get ats to load in vr. It just keeps loading on my desktop like normal, even through streamvr on my quest 3. It loads 2d in the headset. Please let me know if anyone has had the same issue resolved hopefully
@@sammybranch77 Press Alt + Tab on your keyboard until ATS becomes the prominent window, then once inside your headset press F11. However, have you downloaded the Steam Link application and opened the game via the Steam Link app?, have you selected Oculus OpenVR Beta 1.51 (it’s now on 1.52) from the Steam configuration page?, also ensuring that -openvr is typed as the launch option? The full setup guide to ATS VR is in the Essentials Guide video also in my library you may want to also double check that. I was playing it last night apart from Driving Academy nothing significantly has changed in 1.52
I've been reading the comments and you keep saying that virtual desktop is the best for a wired connection but this is just wrong. Virtual desktop is for wireless connection and is so much better quality than wired.
@@gogsie59 It may have changed since the creation of the guide, it was done some time ago. At one point I was using Virtual Desktop with the Pico 4 then the Quest Pro, I would hope that things have moved on significantly as they tend to change quite quickly in the VR world, I have since migrated to the Pimax Crystal with Direct Display Port.

@@thomasfrey3336 -openvr I would recommend uninstalling the Oculus software from your PC all together, Steam VR uses OpenVR as its framework, Oculus is only required for native Oculus games you can use the Meta Horizon app to manage them

Steam Link and Steam VR use OpenVR as their framework. You can use the Meta Horizon app on your phone to manage the Quest library. Use the -openvr option for launch of ATS not the -oculus and yiu will get significantly improved performance on Steam Link, if you want a wired connection then Virtual Desktop is the best option there

When I click connect it doesn't take me into the Steam environment as shown, it takes me to Steam Home and doesn't show my list of games. 1:45

Friend, how did you manage to put the route supervisor screen on the side? on mine it appears on top of the steering wheel
It’s the latest 1.51 update it orientes to the side in the new updates 🙂

i did everything u did and whenever i launch it threw the vr it puts the game in theatre mode

@@rafaelcadena44 Its likely to be the render resolution, the PSVR 2 is 2000x2040 which is 68% try that it should reduce the timewarp effect

Steam VR always conflicts with oculus app.

I'm getting 10-15 fps. Why could this be? I have Amd 5 5500 and 3060.
Lower the scaling in the in game settings and work your way up from 25, to 50, 75 etc and find the best level for your system.
Are you using a link cable?
