I've been using my Hori Truck System for about a week now and have it on a rig. And I must say what a different it makes. It definitely adds to the realism and immersion and is well worth the price. I have no complaints and love using it. Whether you drive manual or automatic transmission it works great and I highly recommend it. My previous setup I used a Logitech G29 but using the Hori Truck System is a step up.
I think my only complaint is the lack of backlit shifter. Very difficult to see in a slightly darker game room (specially when being blasted by a bright screen). Other than that, I think it is worth the price...
@@DONphantasmo Have you tried this set up on Farming Simulator 22 by chance? I do allot of the support stuff like grabbing the extra seeds to fill the planter, haul crops from the field to silo then to sell points... one thing I think a lot of people forget is that this isnt just a wheel. It's a truck wheel, Pedals, Shifter, Splitter shift topper, and a button box in one big kit. Start pricing all these out and you'll see that the price is not bad at all. 👍👍
For truck and bus games this is all and exactly what we need, and the price will eventually fall to 499€$ too, which is triple less than moza truck ecosystem. Hori setup is compact and complete, the wheel is twice better looking and more functional than moza one.
@@benhollywood5321obviously you know nothing at all 😂 Moza definitely wins over this all plastic junk! And this base is gear driven lol in 2024. These hori will definitely brake look at there other sim or flight gear reviews 😂
@@SIMRIG412 I use several wheels and nothing ever broken nor did I ever saw any wheel broke to anybody. Hori truck is what it is, if you don't like it buy moza and have fun with that.
@@ShadowW0lfSasuke a truck shifter with a splitter and range selector to be able to drive, 10, 13, 15, 18 speed correctly. I make them. I retrofit real Eaton Fuller shifters to work as controllers in ATS and ETS2. Adds even more realism to the game.
Really appreciate how you walk through the features while actually playing the game. Most reviews only cover the basics and move on. I started playing ETS2 on keyboard and then moved to a very cheap wheel. And I enjoyed the game regardless how I played it. Hoping to upgrade to a better wheel soon.
Hey, same here. IMO, the game is HORRIBLE on a keyboard. I upgraded to an Xbox controller and it was a little better. Then, I upgraded to a Thrustmaster. This is a bit more "ATX/ETS2" specific (well, also Mud/Snow runner). I don't see myself playing Forza or AC with this wheel, lol
Just fyi the engine vibration force feedback is a truck sim thing, it's in the force feedback settings and I have it on something like 5% so I'd advise turning your wheel force feedback up again and turning this setting down and you'll have much better road feel
Just ordered it here in the uk for delivery next week , luckily i had old graphics cards , processors and ram from my old builds that needed cleaning out/selling so almost made the money up and only adding a little myself , thanks for the video explained alot , im looking forward to trying it out in ets2 !
Great review! I got mine last Saturday. You are spot on with the petals... too smooth and slid everywhere. I got the "Next Level racing wheel stand 2.0" and it fits and works like a charm.
This is a great review, and I really appreciate it, because my module is due today. So your views have given me a head start on what exactly to expect. The tip about placing the box behind the pedals to immobilize them is priceless. Thanks for sharing. Happy Sim-trucking
Thanks. I missed the Amazon PreSale but noticed it went back in stock on their website so I was looking for a good review. I have the same issue with my Logitech pedals on hardware floors so I already have something in place to stop the pedals. Thanks for the great info!
Go down to the hardware store and spend a couple of dollars on some sticky back non slip furniture pads for carpet...stick them to the bottom and the pedals will never move again. My Logitech pedals had exactly the same problem on carpet. I am now looking forward to the Hori wheels release in Australia.
I've been looking forwards to finally seeing user-reviews on this product. The main point i'm getting from this is that it might be better not using shoes on the pedals, to get a bit more feel for the setup. The rotation is indeed pretty accurate, you might want to adjust the ingame wheel rotation simulation to 1800 as well (think it's in the gameplay option), and the sensitivity bar to the right, the non-linearity all the way to the left. (i saw you driving straight, with the hori almost pointed 90 degrees to the left... which i think might be the linearity. Thanks for the review though, much appreciated, taking it slow and with your good microphone/camera setup, the quality comes across very well. The Shifter actually sounds alot more solid than i expected, seeing i only saw one other user review, and just the Ets2 guys testing it before it even got in the consumers hands. And nope, not buying it, as my setup is already complete: DD-wheel with a max of 2160degrees rotation, heusinkveld sprint pedals and th8rs shifter with almar SKRS shifter... Well, basically set up for racing, with the additional trucking addons through the years... now if Hori wouldhave built this thing 6 years earlier, i would probably have bought it. Thanks again for the video, enjoyed that.
It's a huge step up from a logitech or thrustmaster wheel with a makeshift H-shifter. If you're just starting out, this is only a little more expensive than you piecing everything new. But, if you don't have the funds, getting a used wheel will do the job very well.
I saw this wheel set up recently and it peaked my curiosity. Thank you for your honest review. I've noticed more and more wheels, button boxes, gear shifters and handbrakes are being manufactured specifically for Europe/American truck simulator drivers. It took these manufacturers long enough to realise how popular these two titles are. With regards to this setup, the pedals look really cheap and nasty and I'm still using the timeless logitech G27. For me. Well I built my own rig. I bought the indicator/wiper stalk set manufactured by Obokidly, which fitted straight onto the logitech G27 with ease. It has self cancelling indicators and you have the option of buying upgrades which includes a retarder lever, start button and cover. In my case I didn't like the original logitech wheel, but why would I, it is the stupidest size for trucks. I could have bought a larger wheel off ebay, but I decided to fit a wheel out of a Volvo XC90. I used a router to remove some of the aluminium from it's centre and after drilling a couple of holes, it fitted straight onto the aluminium hub on the obokidly indicator/wiper stalk kit. I ran some wires through the small hole on the steering shaft and after a few days of soldering and pulling my hair out, I fitted buttons and bulbs so that buttons fitted to the volvo wheel control the cruise control and radio. I also built my own switch panel. RUclips video to follow.
I see a filament dryer, I bet you could print something that would use the bolt threads for mounting to a sim rig to make some anti slip, definitely and oversight on their part. Awesome review, thanks for taking the time man
Yeah, I have like, 8 printers. I can print something for it. For now, I put the box behind it and it is working. I think I'm just enjoying it too much to worry about designing and printing something for it. LOL. Thanks for your encouraging words. It's very appreciated
@@DONphantasmo no worries, I do have a question on your force feedback settings. I’ve heard people fighting with it but yours seemed very smooth while straightening out your truck it brought the wheel back as it should. Would you mind telling us what settings you are using?
I'm glad you got one that doesn't have the Force Feedback steering issue. But for mine, when using Force Feedback the wheel slips, like the gear tooth was missing, when I was turning left. I know another person of reddit who experienced the same issue, and he's got a replacement coming.
It was necessary to make control buttons on the side of the gearbox so that the stick would not interfere with pressing the buttons. If you could have guessed, then it would have been great.
Thank you Romeo for showing us the Hori Truck Control System Review mos helpful my wheel is being delivered today i play both ATS and ETS once again thank you for your great review
1:50 thats actually super awesome.. i use a T150 with a tablet set up as dashboard and emulating the controls through simhub and then setting in all in game was a really long and tedious process which i messed up numerous times. Having the controls work out of the box is really amazing. Also 650 usd might seem a lot for a belt or gear driven wheel, but the "same" DD setup from moza, R5 with extra pedal, tsw truck wheel and stalks that go under the wheel is 1200 usd without a shifter which is another 180 usd and it still does not have a table clump with which you could angle the wheel. What i am afraid of is the pedal set and the shifter. If this wheel would work with my t3pa pedal set and i could take the shifter off and just use the button box because i already have a modded th8a shifter.. i would be the happiest person this upcoming christmas.
As a 32yo real-life truck driver I was waiting for a truck-system since 2010😂. I will pay even more for a good one actually only to "have&feel" my truck right inside my home😂. Thanks for the review! I'm waiting for the announced Moza DD truck-system only because I'm a mental-sick MF 😇and I spend a lot of my money for "the best" (and very expensive shit) on the market but this Hori in my opinion it's a perfectly excellent system update for all those who are just normal and "sane" virtual-truck-drivers😊 And btw I've seen some comments regarding the "plastic junk".... Well guys, we've been using plastic from ever didn't we? Any of you had problems with that until now? Guess not. I was using the G923 for years and it's still like new. So don't bother listening those "all knowing" junk speaking, they only want to play smart in front of others! I assure you this Hori will make you happy!!! Good truckin' out-there you all!
I don't know if they'll ever come out with a DD set-up, just because of the price. I don't think the market is going to allow for it to be made. People are already complaining about a 600$ price-tag. If they make a DD unit with good Feedback, it'll be over 1K and probably not really going to sell much. And, as we know, they are in it for the money, my friend...
For a few years now I've had my Logitech G29; even a few years ago bought a proper converted truck shifter with Range and split so all up probably spent most of that 500 GBP for mine on that setup. So with this having everything on it I agree, I think it's more than worth it. Just wonder if it will fit my stand or not. If not the pedals won't be an issue for me as I have a small desk with a kind of rest across the back that the pedals will go up against. I have more issues staying put myself with my chair being on wheels. 🤣🤣
I'm still waiting for mine from Amazon, it was supposed to arrive on the 11th. You could place some carpet grips on the bottom of the pedals base or for hard floors rubber grips. For the retarder I purchased a USB pedal for the floor to make it more realistic. Great video and I can't wait to get mine.
The wheel itself looks to be a nice quality. Does the leather feel soft (realistic), or is it more solid feeling like a G29? Obviously, for the price, $650 is a lot, especially as it’s gear driven as opposed to Direct Drive. But for truck sims, which this is for, I don’t think DD is really needed. I’d imagine if they went that route, the price would have been even more excessive! The real let down however is the pedals. Not only is the base tiny, but there is no grip to the floor whatsoever. Surely someone in the design team must have thought a completely flat plastic base is unsuitable - at least have some grips to create some sort of friction!!! Overall though, it’s good to see this and Moza’s attempt of opening up the market for this type of wheel. Hopefully it encourages more to be made in the future!
Yeah but like you said, DD for just ETS2 and ATS (Which i use my wheel for 90% of the time). Just seems unnecessary. Plus, I've looked up what a basic set of DD, plus wheel, plus button box, plus shifter, would cost so i'd have some similar in terns of buttons and such, And i kept ending up with prices that were considerably more expensive. So for what it does offer, In this economy. I too don't really feel like it's all that odd.
when I bought my logitech wheel a few years ago I picked up a set of springs for the pedals. Really helped with immersion as they felt like the real thing.
I would update the pedals with at lest the cheapest Load Cell option currently available on the market (fanatec, moza or whatever other brand of choice) beside that it is a very good all in one option, too bad they do not sell the shifter-button box device separately, I would probably consider buying it. Cheers.
I think if I was designing a product like that I'd be tempted to put the view control stick on the shifter or the turn signal stalk. Must be awkward to adjust the view with the one on the wheel if you're backing up with the wheel turned. Ever since I went from a controller to a G29 I've been annoyed about having to reach for the mouse to adjust the external camera.
Important note about "it works with Snowrunner" ... Force feedback and shifting currently do not work with Snowrunner according to Hori's compat list. Hopefully that'll change at some point, but Snowrunner in notoriously bad at that on other wheels as well so I'm not getting my hopes up.
It sounds to me that this is a nicely integrated package. Things that could have been mentioned: 1. Is there any provision for switching wheels; 2. Can you adjust wheel height or angle; 3. Build quality, plastic or metal; 4. How are the gimbals constructed, hall effect, plastic or metal; 5. Over impression on switch quality; and 6. Does it have threaded holes for mounting on Sim rigs;
@@DONphantasmoI have been lusting after a Moza TSW R9 setup which also became available recently. The comments on one of its reviews mentioned the Hori offering. In my mind Hori seems to win out on the quantity of buttons front, looses on the modification for other purposes and adjustments fronts and its up in the air on the build quality front. Judging simply from videos and pictures it seems Hori is mostly plastic while Moza is mostly metal. Whats under the hood is more important to me than the outer covering. A good example of that is the Thrustmaster Warthog joystick. Its metal on the outside and a plastic gimbal on the inside. That's not what I expect from a system costing over $500 USD. Hori wins on price however I am willing to pay a premium for good quality and longevity. So I would say in summary , sigh and arrrgh ;-).
Great review video. I feel like this system is good, but it’s really too expensive. At present, it seems that there is still a lot of room for improvement. I feel that we should wait for the launch of the second or third generation products. It might be the best time to buy. In addition, it is recommended that the game scene during the demonstration operation should be bright during the day. Avoid dark in-game situations that make it difficult to see how you interact with the game content. p.s I use Google Translate, please forgive me if the meaning is wrong.
It's decent. Not perfect and not really great. But, for what you pay to get pre-mapped buttons, shifter, large steering wheel with lots of buttons, and a (albeit crappy) pedals, I'm decently happy.
7:04 this wheel is 1800 degrees, not 1080, also i think u set the in game steering angle wrong, because the truck wheel doesnt seem to line up with the wheel you are using
I had this on pre-order but just recently cancelled my order, this video has confirmed I made the correct decision for me I think. No grip on the pedals and the cable coming out the back so if you jam something behind it could get damaged was a slight issue but the big one is accessing the buttons behind the gear stick looks too hard especially when the gear stick was pushed forward. Maybe wait for a V2 and hope they fix these problems.
I have the same issue with my old Driving Force GT. I ended up making a wooden bracket that braces itself against the wall. Cable has somewhere to go and it holds it at my preferred pedal distance
I really like the idea of a Truck Sim dedicatd rig, but as someone who also plays BeamNG, I’m not very happy about having to switch setup everytime, and it’s also quite expensive for someone with a limited bugdet like me.
If youve actually done research its not expensive, ive seen trucker setups that just for the wheel and the base its a few grand alone, not including shifter, pedals ect so all of this for less than a grand is actually really cheap. If you dont want to switch setups then this isnt really a wheel for you unless you have a dedicated area for just the trucking setup
I have the Xbox wheel and pedals setup and it works perfectly. Looking right and left with the directional pad is easy but I just use my web camera to do the same thing because it tracks my head movement. I turn my head slightly to the left and it looks left. More to the left and your head is out of the driver side window. Turn slightly to the right to see the right side view mirror and so on. Look straight forward and you’re looking right at the road. I use my keyboard for other functions and map basic switches to the steering wheel buttons like cruise control, starter, park brake, lights, windshield wipers, signal lights, high and low beams and other functions. You should really look into using the webcam for head tracking. It makes things a lot easier. Great review.
I work in oil and gas in Northern Canada and I am middle aged. I have seen older truck drivers in their 70's who deliver chemicals for us. They do it as a retirement job as it is not such a demanding job and they don't have a boss standing behind them at work all the time. Also, they can often do it part time. I am wondering, does using a truck simulator and the hardware in this video help you to learn how to driver a commercial truck before you learn on the road or is it really not that useful? I'd like to know one way or the other. Although I'd like to continue working where I am now, I wouldn't mind getting my licence and maybe prepare for a post-retirement job. Also, I word 12 hour shifts, two weeks on, two off. I have two weeks off every month. If I got my licence, I could possibly work part time and gain some experience before I decide to do it on a more regular basis. What are you thoughts? Constructive comments are greatly appreciated! (Yes, I can drive a standard transmission car just fine. :)
Man... That's one of the best questions I have had to answer. Here's my honest answer. I started playing this game for fun. I learned things like, how to take wider turns, how to back up and park, etc. Things that aren't the same as driving a regular automobile. When I started getting my Commercial Driver's license, my instructor was AMAZED on how "quickly I picked everything up". He would ask me how I knew how to navigate easily, back up, and make the turns. He said I picked it up much quicker than most of his other students. I explained to him that I play ATS and he laughed at me, and said "NO WAY". After a lot of explaining, he was pleasantly surprised. So, short answer is yes, it will help you a little bit. Similar to having a Flight Simulator and a yoke/throttle/rudders at home. It's not the exact same, but it will keep your muscle memory trained. I hope this helps.
I noticed a huge amount of flex in that steer wheel tjeezus the way you lean oned and that movement was scary tbh I still play on my G 25 with shifter and all buttons I ever need and use set up
the bit of flex is because the wheel is much bigger, so longer distance between the braces. I don't really notice it when I'm using it to drive. But, if it bothers you that much, this might not be the wheel for you
Awesome review my guy! Thanks for this. I made a pre-order 3 months ago and expect it in around next week. Your review has made me build up my excitement even more!
@@DONphantasmo I can imagine! the step to this was fairly easy since I only play truck and bus sims and no other racing sims. I think the wheel would be a perfect fit in that situation. If you also in for racing sims then this might be a bit over the top imo. Expect it tomorrow! can't wait
I have the Logitech G920 with the H-shifter and was fine till the buttons on the wheel stopped working. I think it a loose wire, because sometime the light about the "X" button comes on when I turn the wheel and the buttons work. The Force Feedback works the pedals work and so does the H-shifter. I have been looking at the Hori wheel since it was announced but it is around CA$800.
That sucks about your wheel, hopefully you can get it fixed or even just replaced! But, this is great for the trucking games, but NOT for anything racing...
Not much said about the turn signals, just that they're amazing. Not sure about that, i've seen in other reviews that you have to push once to activate then it returns to centre position, and push again to turn blinkers off.
So it's a BMW turn signal stock? And I mean that with no joke, the joke that BMW drivers don't use them is because they return to neutral position, they don't stay.
You are correct. I mean amazing to have a turn signal stock. But, yes, push to activate. It's crude but it's better than me having to map my LB to activate. Just my opinion, though. You're not wrong. It's not a conventional watch-spring mechanism.
I have my TH8A mounted on a bracket screwed into the bottom of my chair, with an extended arm. I really wanted a more immersive experience. I hope the will sell the wheel on it's own one day, I will def buy it. And I expect prices to drop eventually.
hoping to order mine on friday. i will be upgrading from a thrustmaster tx with a 3dps pedals. i dnt know if its worth keeping them pedals or using the ones that come with the wheel. isnt the wheel 1800 degrees not 1080 as you mentioned in the video?
@@UnwellGaming yes. I said 1080 but I meant 1800. Also, in my humble opinion, it is worth it to upgrade to this, and I’m keeping my thrust master however I’m probably gonna get rid of it eventually.
Great review, i may consider it for the future but not at the moment just too high for a college student 😂 Also some feedback on your video, you should invest in a good camera your videos are amazing but thats just lacking slightly! Liked and subscribed!
I actually have a couple of decent cameras. I just lack the knowledge and professionalism to get them to be good enough. This is just a hobby for me. I will (hopefully) get better. I may also make videos about my weird likes, like scooters, cars, and motorcycles. Longer ones that involve maintenance, riding, exploring, etc. Or flying my PPG. But, like I said, I lack the knowledge, know-how and professional acuity to get it done (at this moment).
How will this set work with Farming Simulator 22? I do allot of the support stuff like grabbing the extra seeds to fill the planter, haul crops from the field to silo then to sell points... While my friend dose all the field work in her tractor doing the fertilizer spreading, planting, running the harvester.. ... I also play ATS...
So does it have mountain screwed at the bottom of the steering wheel? So I can attach too my GTO mega rig ? That does look really nice mate. feedback is it better than the G29 Would you say it’s quite strong As my kids like to play on my game
I'm not sure about the "mountain" screws. I don't know what that is. But, the feedback is adjustable. I turned mine down a lot. I say if your kids want to play, turn it down and let them enjoy... I don't see why they would have a problem turning the wheel with the feedback turned down..
Are you still happy with the system? I have one ordered for December delivery but hearing a lot saying it’s cheap plastic and get the Moza setup. Not sure what to do
Yes, I am very happy with it. It isn't worth it (for me) to get the Moza set-up because I don't think the extra money is value-added for me. If you have the Moza wheel base and pedals already, I do think the Moza upgrade is worth it, though. If you don't have it, and you are willing to spend almost (or more than) a grand, then go for it. But, I am not a professional gamer, I pay for these things out of pocket. Yes it is cheaper feeling than, let's say the Moza. But, you are paying $600 for a pre-mapped steering wheel, pre-mapped shifter with a lot of buttons, and a (crappy) 3 pedal system.
@@DONphantasmo Thanks for the reply, Really appreciate it. I'm in the same situation as you.. I had a Logitech G923 which i sold, As Amazon told me my Hori order was coming last week.. Turns out it's Mid December now. So i either wait or cancel and go for the Moza. It's just a sting as like you say paying 1k for the Moza setup is a lot however it does get rave reviews especially now it has the Multi function stalks
@@ItsRyan. If you play ETS consistently, and want the "better experience", and have deep pockets, get the Moza. I hear it is better. However, if you aren't ALL of the above, just be patient and wait for mid-December. That's what I would do. I'd wait... Best of luck to you, though, bro. Happy gaming.
@@DONphantasmo Well in a predicament as i passed my Truck license end of last month so hoping to get a job trucking fairly soon.. so how much i would want to still play then .. i don't know. I'm on about 986 hours playtime so far
i saw some other setups using other brands this is actually the cheapest setup others don't have a shifter and box included which will be over $1k so for being this cheap it's not a bad set up
Yes. Much cheaper than other set-ups (if you are starting from scratch). But, it also feels cheaper. So, you get what you paid for. But, you also have to say, it upgrades the playing experience dramatically. I enjoy it
i heard this wasnt direct drive but belt driven which does make a massive difference in feel, otherwise this is a great setup. Moza has a nice wheel but they dont include a shifter set.
Yes, not DD, just belt driven. But, let's be realistic, you will not find a DD pre-mapped wheel with shifters, almost 100 buttons, and pedals for 599... Unrealistic. So, there is some trade-offs, of course
Pozdrawiam!
I hope this review helped. Like I said, if you get it, your gameplay will be a little better. But, if you don't get it, it's not a big deal. You'll still play and enjoy yourself. It's just not as much enjoyment with such a small wheel.
Plug and play is huge for me. I am not a fan of buying some high price (even if it is good stuff) for my flight sim (DCS mainly) and spend 6 hours setting up buttons. I still haven't got my flight sim set up correct for me, but that is my fault for just wanting to play. LOL. That said, Amazon seems to be the only place to get one with free shipping and in stock.
OMG YEEESSSS.. I bought the HORI HOTAS, and you have to map every damn button in flight sim, Xplane, etc... That sucks.. I spent a few hours mapping it. With this one, I literally just plugged and played. That was awesome.
Nah man. I'm not a big channel who received this as a demonstration unit. I'm just a guy who was among the first in the country to receive this set-up (using my own money), and I wanted to give my honest opinion on what I thought of it. This way, you can decide if it is worth buying it yourself, or if you want to pass on it.
It’s obviously not direct drive, and that’s the only reason I haven’t got one already. I have T500RS which I was planning on replacing with a Fanatec when it broke down, but it’s still going strong after many years! When I saw this with it’s large wheel and steering column controls I started rethinking. However, I feel I need to actually have a go to see how the FFB really holds up. I’ve got TrackIR, so that’ll free up a few controls, though with the amount it has, i don’t think I’ll need them. Now I just need to find somewhere I can try one out! Shame we’ve lost so many high street specialist shops.
I think for what it is, a 600$ full set up, it's good enough to do the job. Specially in a "truck" simulator. I don't think they would ever put that money into it, since that will drive the cost up. People are complaining about the 600$ price tag already. If they had DD and a better FFB motor, and maybe FFB on the shifter, too, plus much better pedals, this thing would be 1500$ easy. Most people would never pay anything close to that.
My rudder pedals were smooth bottom as well. I used some velcro tape and they don't budge at all now. It is on carpet so I just stuck the grippy side of the velcro to the pedals and tossed the felt side out.
G'day mate, not trying to have a go at you but your settings are out a bit, you can tell by how much your turning the wheel and how much the in game steering wheel turns they don't match and you don't need to use the clutch after you move off just like IRL, I would readjust your settings and try again and you will find that the wheel will feel so much better. The only thing I don't like about this is the buttons behind the shifter are quite hard to get to.
Actually when he does the U turn both his wheel and ingame goes 2 and a half turns to lock, but I think hemight have his steering non-linearity turned up becuase it does look odd. I think it's clear this guy isn't a trucker irl so he may not even be aware how to to float gears in a big rig so I don't think it's unreasnable for him to be running basic manual
@@DannyDan2k13 G'day Danny, yes your right about it matching the complete radius but like you said it is the linearity that looks off because half way through the wheel rotation it does not match up, The clutch is just my OCD as this is a simulator I just think it should be played that way lol, like I said not having a go at Romeo's Relics he has made a great vid here as not many people that did vids on the Hori showed as much detail. 🙂
@@roanegaming Yeah fair enough. Personally I have it on full realistic gearbox so float the gears 90% of the time (unless I f it up and have to reset with the clutch haha). I like it because as a brit unsynchronised gearboxes are almost none existent here so it's fun to drive in a way that doesn't exist here. Ngl when I go back to ets2 and have to use the clutch constantly it does make me miss floating in ats
How do you run that shift in Eaton Fuller 18? First gear you showed would be reverse and 2nd gear would be low low.. can you set it up for 18 speed trans?
I have it with whatever the stock setting are. Which are confusing a little. First is left and up (where R would be), Third is left and down. Reverse is all the way to the right and down. I think it is set up like a sports car. I know it'll upset a lot of people. But, I don't care enough to re-map it. Which would be very easy, but I won't bother.
Been researching this wheel setup and the biggest downside for me is the absence of backlit buttons. The competition (Moza wheel thingy) does have it and would cost me about the same as the Hori does.
Have you tried it with racing games? My desk isn't big enough for two sets of wheels, and I don't want to swap back and forth. Is this better for racing and sometimes trucking or should I just stick with a normal g29 that I'm really happy with -- just wishing the wheel was bigger?
I have a thrustmaster T300 with 3 pedals, the H shifter and they are much better for racing. This would NOT be my first choice of a racing steering wheel.
@@DONphantasmo zhanks man..love Simulation and that stuff. If i had Mode time i would Start ETS or ATS. The Hori is cool...i like it. I subscribte your channel
Great review, any thoughts on for about $300 more you can get a Moza R9, Truck Wheel and SRP Pedals. Do you think it is worth to save the money to get the Moza set up. This way I can eventually get another wheel to play racing sim games as well
Obviously a Moza setup would be much better; at least quality wise. But, for the price I paid (599 plus tax), I am happy with my purchase. Also, if I were more of a serious gamer, I probably would. But I just play to enjoy my time, relax, etc. For me, this is just right to scratch that itch. A small Logitech/Thrustmaster wheel just doesn't do it. Plus having everything pre-mapped was a good surprise, too.
I have no idea how to answer either of those questions. I don't work for Hori, so I don't know why there is no lights. And I just don't understand the second question
This looks amazing! When you turn the wheel in real life, is the motion the same in the game? Like does the wheel turn the same amount as the wheel does in real life?
I know there is a way to get them to "sync", however, I have not found it yet. Honestly, it doesn't matter too much to me. But, I know it bothers some people...
Hi, great video. Just wondering how smooth the steering wheel is? Is there any clunkyness to the rotation or is it very smooth? Also, im guessing theres no way to adjust the angle of the steering position? Seems fixed. Thanks.
Yeah, it has some grit to it. Just like my logitech and my thrustmaster wheel. So, I'm kinda used to it. I think a DD would be much better, but also much more money. Most people are going to be OK with the chunkiness given the "lesser" price tag.
If you turn the wheel fast does it keep up in game or do you have to wait for the in game steering to keep up practically does it have direct drive. Never mind i noticed it is in the vid
If you're going to get a unit like that for simming you should really think about getting a head tracking setup like TrackIR or Tobii. Makes your driving (or flying) MUCH more immersive.
I don't really care about head tracking, because if that's the case, I will just use my VR set-up. But, you're like the 10th person to comment on it. So, there must be a good reason people use it...
I think we could really use a FF shifter; imagine not being able to get into gear if you're floating like in real life. With the appropriate feel and sounds if you 'crunch'.
Great review! Just got mine! Wondering what setting in the game activated the shifter for you? There aren’t any videos on setting this particular system up yet…wink lol
I downloaded the drivers before I even got the system delivered. When I plugged it in, it was pre-mapped. But, I've always used the H-shifter so I never had a problem.
Yeah, you can set that up. It's just 3rd for forward, and 4th for reverse (or I might have that backwards). But, yeah, that also works. I prefer the punishment of shifting 17 times, lol
I agree, a Moza (or any DD wheel) is much better. However, for a layman like myself who isn't really serious about it, this is just good enough to make my emersion better.
@@DONphantasmo Have you tried this set up on Farming Simulator 22 by chance? one thing I think a lot of people forget is that this isnt just a wheel.
Hori truck is what it is, if you don't like it buy moza and have fun with that.
a splitter switch attachment?? what do you mean exactly?? 0.0
@@DONphantasmo It's ok if you change the steering response to .82 in the controls. It's also good for controller people and the Steam Deck.
Just fyi the engine vibration force feedback is a truck sim thing, it's in the force feedback settings and I have it on something like 5% so I'd advise turning your wheel force feedback up again and turning this setting down and you'll have much better road feel

Finally a good review on the Hori! Pretty much hit every question we do ourselves when thinking about buying it or not ❤🎉
Great review! I got mine last Saturday. You are spot on with the petals... too smooth and slid everywhere. I got the "Next Level racing wheel stand 2.0" and it fits and works like a charm.
That might be my next purchase
You have just answered the question. I was having issues finding an answer to the stand, so thank you
where did you buy it? address please
This is a great review, and I really appreciate it, because my module is due today. So your views have given me a head start on what exactly to expect. The tip about placing the box behind the pedals to immobilize them is priceless. Thanks for sharing. Happy Sim-trucking
Hey... Thanks a lot. I appreciate it. I'm just starting out, and hopefully getting a better quality video will eventually come.
Little thing: you can set ETS2/ATS rotation angle to 1800 degrees, so it matches your HORI wheel.
Great video!
Yes, I don't think I said that. Mine is set to 1800 and it mimics the wheel pretty well.
Thank you very much
You answered all my questions and gave me a good look at it all, i couldn't have asked for a better review.
Thank you very much. It's my first serious video with an actual purpose. Let alone a review. I appreciate your encouraging words.
So looking forward to getting mine on Saturday week apparently, it's come forward twice since I pre-ordered it. Can't wait. 😁
about the pedals grip, I think that putting something like anti slip carpet underlay would solve this easy and cheap.
Yeah, I really have to. Right not, I'm just putting the box behind it. It's working for now.
Wow, that sounds amazing.
I would love to see a video on that, and am very curious as to how much it costs to do what you have done?
Good old hori junk 😂 you are going to have nothing but problems with this junk
It was necessary to make control buttons on the side of the gearbox so that the stick would not interfere with pressing the buttons. If you could have guessed, then it would have been great.
Thank you Romeo for showing us the Hori Truck Control System Review mos helpful my wheel is being delivered today i play both ATS and ETS once again thank you for your great review
My pleasure Ian
MAAANNNN.. You hit it RIGHT on the head.
I cannot agree more!!!
@@DONphantasmo I hope they'll do...
did you check the Moza site, they have a pretty valid option there
I was a bit worried about the ffb, but this review has made me convinced 🙂 thx
Enjoy; Paul
Something that might help with securing the pedals could be to Velcro them to the floor or use double-sided carpet tape.
I would argue with the amount of buttons its fair, considering you don't need 4 different USB peripherals to get all of that.
Yeah but like you said, DD for just ETS2 and ATS (Which i use my wheel for 90% of the time). Just seems unnecessary.
Plus,
I've looked up what a basic set of DD, plus wheel, plus button box, plus shifter, would cost so i'd have some similar in terns of buttons and such, And i kept ending up with prices that were considerably more expensive.
So for what it does offer, In this economy. I too don't really feel like it's all that odd.
I agree with everything you said.
when I bought my logitech wheel a few years ago I picked up a set of springs for the pedals. Really helped with immersion as they felt like the real thing.
Yeah, I will see if I can get some so I can make them feel better
I would update the pedals with at lest the cheapest Load Cell option currently available on the market (fanatec, moza or whatever other brand of choice) beside that it is a very good all in one option, too bad they do not sell the shifter-button box device separately, I would probably consider buying it. Cheers.
You aren't the only one asking for the shifter to be sold separately. Eventually, they just might
I think if I was designing a product like that I'd be tempted to put the view control stick on the shifter or the turn signal stalk.
It sounds to me that this is a nicely integrated package.
Things that could have been mentioned:
1. Is there any provision for switching wheels;
2. Can you adjust wheel height or angle;
3. Build quality, plastic or metal;
4. How are the gimbals constructed, hall effect, plastic or metal;
5. Over impression on switch quality; and
6. Does it have threaded holes for mounting on Sim rigs;
I will do a part 2 and include some of these. Thank you for some wonderful feedback.
Very good review, covered pretty much all aspects. I am waiting for mine middle of October, it's going to be a week off work :P.
AAAAAaAaaaaaAAAaaaa!!!!!!! I've been waiting for something like this for so long!!! THX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Appreciate the review my Friend 👊 Seems like a solid unit alround .. ✌️
It's decent. Not perfect and not really great.
But, for what you pay to get pre-mapped buttons, shifter, large steering wheel with lots of buttons, and a (albeit crappy) pedals, I'm decently happy.
Good review, mate! Don´t care about the quality, it is okay. Get my Hori in two weeks time I hope.

7:04 this wheel is 1800 degrees, not 1080, also i think u set the in game steering angle wrong, because the truck wheel doesnt seem to line up with the wheel you are using
I may have said 1080, but I have it set to 1800 in the game.
Thank you for pointing that out, though. It may help someone else.

ive had the G27 for a good few years now and feel its time to upgrade. my birthday is january so im hoping xmas/birthday present for me lol
Just don't use it for racing games, this is really for ETS2/ATS
If you can afford it, I think it is a great buy. I haven't touched my Thrustmaster wheel and set-up since I played with this thing.
It's a lot of fun.
I am glad this video helped.
Cheers
I will play it in VR tonight, and eventually I will end up getting a head/eye tracker like all the cool kids
Oh, you're going to enjoy ATS/ETS2 a little more now, lol.
Specially with the larger wheel and pre-mapped buttons
Very informative video, thanks! Can't wait to get mine in november!
I was like this is cool, then I saw you put it in reverse and pull off like you were in first, then I'm like, so close. 😂
You can re-map reverse or first wherever you want.
This was pre-mapped to reverse being right and back.
I have my TH8A mounted on a bracket screwed into the bottom of my chair, with an extended arm. I really wanted a more immersive experience. I hope the will sell the wheel on it's own one day, I will def buy it. And I expect prices to drop eventually.
That's what I used for 4 years, TH8A, shifter, pedals and a range splitter. This makes it feel a lot more authentic
@@DONphantasmo It makes it a lot more fun! I also have the Saitek side panel, as a button box.
hoping to order mine on friday. i will be upgrading from a thrustmaster tx with a 3dps pedals. i dnt know if its worth keeping them pedals or using the ones that come with the wheel. isnt the wheel 1800 degrees not 1080 as you mentioned in the video?
@@UnwellGaming yes. I said 1080 but I meant 1800. Also, in my humble opinion, it is worth it to upgrade to this, and I’m keeping my thrust master however I’m probably gonna get rid of it eventually.
Great review, i may consider it for the future but not at the moment just too high for a college student 😂
Also some feedback on your video, you should invest in a good camera your videos are amazing but thats just lacking slightly!
I'm not 100% sure. I'm sure it'll work. But, you may have to actually map every button yourself.
I know Hori makes a Farming rig, as well.
So does it have mountain screwed at the bottom of the steering wheel?
So I can attach too my GTO mega rig ? That does look really nice mate.
feedback is it better than the G29
Would you say it’s quite strong
As my kids like to play on my game
I'm not sure about the "mountain" screws. I don't know what that is.
But, the feedback is adjustable. I turned mine down a lot. I say if your kids want to play, turn it down and let them enjoy... I don't see why they would have a problem turning the wheel with the feedback turned down..
It is definitely a nice wheel! If i played only truck games, i would think about buying it.
Yeah, I will say it is specifically made for Truck games. Like, I wouldn't play Forza or AC, or driftX with it
Are you still happy with the system?
@@DONphantasmo Also, Thank you so much for all the help & Advice
Nice review. It has everything I wanna know. Thanks bro 💪💪
Hey.. Thanks a lot. I really appreciate that!!!
i saw some other setups using other brands this is actually the cheapest setup others don't have a shifter and box included which will be over $1k so for being this cheap it's not a bad set up
Thanks for your review bud, was really infomative, great job!
Thanks man. I'm sure my videos will get better eventually. But, I wanted to give an honest review from someone who isn't sponsored.
A very good device. This game has fascinated many people, including me. Thank you for your introduction. I wish you a happy journey every day.
man this video help a lot thanks i was a little lost 🙏
I'm glad it helped. I will have a follow-up video coming with even better information.
@@DONphantasmo Thank you and now I am sold. Bought it!
so, you doing a giveaway? But that's really cool. I would sit there for hours on end pushing every button.
Nah man. I'm not a big channel who received this as a demonstration unit. I'm just a guy who was among the first in the country to receive this set-up (using my own money), and I wanted to give my honest opinion on what I thought of it. This way, you can decide if it is worth buying it yourself, or if you want to pass on it.
@@DONphantasmo I was just joking. But good to know
It’s obviously not direct drive, and that’s the only reason I haven’t got one already.
FANTASTIC !!!!!!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😘😘😘😘😘😘
My rudder pedals were smooth bottom as well. I used some velcro tape and they don't budge at all now. It is on carpet so I just stuck the grippy side of the velcro to the pedals and tossed the felt side out.
That's my next move. Either that, or 3D print something for it.
Yeah, I set it up after the video. I adjusted it to 1800. My previous set-up was 900 (I think).
@@DONphantasmo Does it feel better now?
How do you run that shift in Eaton Fuller 18? First gear you showed would be reverse and 2nd gear would be low low.. can you set it up for 18 speed trans?
I have it with whatever the stock setting are. Which are confusing a little.
First is left and up (where R would be),
Third is left and down.
@@blackhorseteck8381 back lit buttons would beat game changer.
Good Video, thanks for you Review and opinion about the Hori set. Greetings Fred
Thanks for the like.
P.s. You have a badass set-up. I just reviewed your channel and subscribed.
Cheers, Fred!!!
@@DONphantasmo zhanks man..love Simulation and that stuff. If i had Mode time i would Start ETS or ATS. The Hori is cool...i like it.
I subscribte your channel
Great, thorough review - thank you!
I hope you will try moza tsw (12nm) and compare them.😁
I have ZERO interest in buying the Moza wheel.
However, if I have a way to get it, I would do an extensive review and comparison
The best thing you can do is buy a steering wheel frame that holds the pedals as well. It's so worth the money.
Great review, any thoughts on for about $300 more you can get a Moza R9, Truck Wheel and SRP Pedals. Do you think it is worth to save the money to get the Moza set up. This way I can eventually get another wheel to play racing sim games as well
Yes definitely better to go moza route! I have all moza and a truck setup. Don’t waste your money on this hori junk
@@DONphantasmo Great review and video. Great to hear you are enjoying it
I will get this definitely
This will be amazing with my tobii eye tracker
My button on my steering wheel don’t work but everything else works? Any suggestions?
Did you install the driver first, before pugging it in?
I’d like this wheel and shifter. Can we add it to a dd base and different pedals?
No clue honestly. I would love to use my Thrustmaster pedals. I think they are much better than these ones.
Why is there no lights on the hori pack and i love hori and how can put out the safety off the collision distens
I have no idea how to answer either of those questions.
I don't work for Hori, so I don't know why there is no lights.
And I just don't understand the second question
so Moza or Hori, now that there is a Moza TSW bundle for the 599?
I'll do a part 2 soon with this in mind. But, in this case, I feel that Hori has more bang for the buck.
Can you put it on automatic or do you have to drive stick?
Totally depending on how you want to drive.
Automatic or manual. You can do either.
No clue. It's a truck wheel, and I don't know why I would turn the wheel fast.
FF shifter and backlit buttons would make this thing pretty badass.
And non-sliding pedals, lol
Good day sir! Just wanna ask, can the wheel height be adjusted like how normal steering wheel do?
Thank you in advance! Cheers!
@@fauzisuandi1995 if you are asking about the angle, no unfortunately not
@DONphantasmo naww thats sad. But nevertheless, thanks for the reply! Appreciate much!
Good day!
I'm curious, I'm from Brazil, does this Hori truck system already have the factory buttons configured?
Yes. I think I said it in my review, pre-mapped buttons on the wheel and shifter.
I literally just plugged it in and started playing
@@DONphantasmo Obrigado, e os pedais o que achou?
Question does the shifter go up for 18 speeds? Like an actual 18 wheeler or no?
Yep. It has a range and splitter, and a retarder as well
Great review!
Thanks for the review mate - nicely done....Jim
Thank you. I appreciate it
Really good video!!!! Do you also have the shifter as an “automatic” version??? for example, because of ETS2 ^^
Yeah, you can set that up. It's just 3rd for forward, and 4th for reverse (or I might have that backwards). But, yeah, that also works. I prefer the punishment of shifting 17 times, lol
How wide is the monitor your using
It's a 34" monitor. It feels like a lot bigger because it is thinner
It looks like the shifter is in the way of the buttons on the shifter unit. Is that a problem?
Yes it is. You can't see the buttons when you are in 1st, 3rd and 5th.
Plus they are not backlit. So, difficult to see indeed
@@DONphantasmo Thanks for the reply 👍🏻
I can't buy it directly from Hori's website and in Amazon is no longer available. Where can i buy it?
Wait a bit, they'll come back. I bought this 5 months ago, and I just got it 24th of Sept. So, I'm sure they are just backlogged
my only concern, Is this wheel works with forza, bus simulator and taxi driver game?
@@arifhussain9676 I'm sure it works with Forza. But I wouldn't ever use it for reaching.
Bus simulator, I'm curious about as well.
Is it the game that won't let you float gears? If you've ever felt a direct drive wheel, there's no going back to gear/cog driven wheels. Moza ftw
I agree, a Moza (or any DD wheel) is much better.
However, for a layman like myself who isn't really serious about it, this is just good enough to make my emersion better.
