    I actually got this model from my dad for christmas in 1999 when i was 16. I was big into anime and it was NOT an accepted hobby at that time. It was honestly like my 2nd model I ever built and I almost nailed it perfectly except i built the thighs backwards. I was obviously unconsolable till my dad came and expertly fixed the issues with an exacto knife, some paint, and some back pats. I built it in S2 mode so the core lit, and when I flipped the generator model's switch and it lit up.........

    Really appreciate watching your work. I believe that some of us afraid to paint the kit but you make an example of how simple it is to do it without wasting time to disassemble the kits and damage it. Especially the shadow part and how you handle hand brush on detail is satisfying. Thank your for make videos like this.

    Thank you so much for the product names and everything. I bought this cheap today because my friend is moving back from Japan, it’s selling for around 83 there and 130-ish here. I have lots of previous art experience so I’m ready to try and air brush for the first time! I’ve only built the RG Eva model before, so I’m sure this will be an extremely frustrating journey, lol.

    I built this kit but had nothing but fighting and pain with that ridiculous rubber under suit.
    Very much killed my enjoyment for that kit, felt more like an over sized HG and definitely looks it too, paint and much patience required to do this justice.

      It really showed how the PG line had improved for the past 20 years. But again the PG line is always served as the test bed for new modeling technology/features for the mainstream products, as the subsequent LM-HG line clearly reflected such application.

    Before I tackle those Units, I'll get my hands on some easier Gundam Builds to get better and more confident. It feels like a shame to have them sitting there, but I'm a huge NGE fan and would feel bad when I break something.
    I would also love to try out some custom stuff first, so if anyone here has a Tip for a Gunpla that is good for a Beginner that wants also wants to learn some highlighting and so on I would appreciate any help you could give me!

    Splendid job, as usual! I love watching what you do with these kits, especially cause I'm usually an 'out of the box' builder, no modding, painting or anything like that! I'd have to agree with others, that rubber suit looks dodgy...it would be interesting to know what BANDAI have used for the new RG kits which are due for release later in the year.
    I'm just having a go at painting a small simple kit (the RX-78-2 First Grade) so I was gonna ask you a quick question, if you don't mind... It looks like you use primers of different colours, does it depend on the colour of the plastic component? Or maybe on the colour you're going to paint it with? Might sound like a stupid question, but I really have no clue...
    Also, I see how you use TAMYA products, I tried HUMBROL but I am not really impressed...maybe I should change...

    0:20 It is not 1/60 scale.
    Evangelion unit01 does not have a fix size in the tv series, but it was at least double of a Gundam. If you compare the entry plug to a 1/144 gundam pilot miniature, it does even fit in. Official has not announce a scale for PG Eva, it is estimated around 1/160~200. (later in the new movies, the size has be fix to 80 meters, which is 4x a Gundam size)

    • @OtakuBuilder
      @OtakuBuilder  5 лет назад

      It's the 1/60th scale. Evangelion popularity was back in the late 90s. Now today fans are debating with themselves over the animated series versus the five feature-length films.

    • @ndalum75
      @ndalum75 5 лет назад +11

      @@OtakuBuilder Most fan debate says the Evas varied wildly from 50 to 200 meters tall, from shot to shot during the TV series. Even at 50 meters tall, this thing is way too small to be 1/60 scale. I think it would be better to classify this thing as non-scale. That said, the Rebuild Evas do have a pretty definitive size of 80 meters tall, which is how Kotobukiya can classify their newest Eva kits as 1/400 scale.

    • @Studio_OZKai
      @Studio_OZKai 4 года назад +4

      @@OtakuBuilder It actually is non-scale. Despite being a Perfect Grade, it has no indicators of scale on its packaging, as the TV EVAs had no set size. Only the Rebuild EVAs have a defined height of 80 meters (to the top of the pylons).

    Why you painting this? Original color was bad or what?

      I guess it lacks details. You can see how he makes wear effect when he paints some parts black before actual color or just adds some different colors to one single piece. If I had an option, I'd do it too, looks so much better.
