That's why I like Samsung Devices, the bootloaders are unlocked and are free for development. We know how other brands like Xiaomi will irritate us to get the Unlocking permissions via their site and so on.
It's Straight Forward Now With Xiaomi!
But Xiaomi Also Give Warranty even if one mess up with the device while rooting!

only rooting will not but changing other things like Modem or trying to install a newer base ROM you might want to install it clean after erasing.

I only have the option to download Kies or Smart Switch. There is no Kies3. Should I use Kies or Smart Switch?

There is for Mac to, take a closer look.
YOU take a closer look. There is a Kies for Mac, but not Kies3. In the video he says Kies3 not Kies. I asked if there is Kies3 for Mac. If it's the same thing that's a diff story. Don't be so quick to judge ;)

No
It depends. I did a root on my SG-935A and the phone was unusable afterwards. Not only the phone was sluggish, the wifi passwords weren't saved after a reboot. BTW, the SG-93xA/T/U root won't trigger Knox..

to update it u would need to reflash stock ROM
+AndroidMods Or just do a full unroot via the SuperSU app.

Go to settings. More , About Phone. You have model number in there... Should say something like G930F or G930FD or G930X... X can be anything depending on your region or carrier. Download the auto-root file that is meant for your Model number.

Sometimes it does, specially if you have disabled apps or/and is encrypted (mine got stuck on the 'decrypting' and I had to restore the phone to factory using ODIN)
