  • Rethreading your sewing machine is not it. Use the tie on method using the square knot to change the thread on your sewing machine or serger instead.

Awesome job demonstrating a square knot!
I used to own the same model of serger as you before I purchased my industrial model. That Juki MO-654DE is a great machine!
When rethreading a serger, I personally never bother trying to get the knots to pass through the needles. I find it much quicker to just cut the needle threads right before the eye of the needle (before pulling anything through) rather than spending time fiddling with the thread chain and needing to be fussy about avoiding tangling. Yes, it means I have to rethread the needles every time, but I find it much quicker to do it that way because it also makes pulling the looper threads quicker and easier when you can just pull the whole thread chain… (Plus, it’s too easy to bend the needle when trying to pass a knot through.) Try it and see if it works for you.
Also, the threading on your serger looked a little odd to me, so to be sure I looked at my copy of the manual for that machine and also referenced some old photos that I have when I first unboxed my machine… you might want to give the manual a quick look because it appears that you are not threading your machine correctly! (At the beginning, the thread should loop around the thread guide plate, not just pass through it. And you’re missing some thread guides right before the thread passes through the eye of the needle.)
Lastly, on your industrial straight stitch machine, is there a reason that you skipped the last thread guide on the needle bar? Or just an oversight? I know this is there to help guide the thread along the groove of the needle (opposite the scarf), and while I’ve seen some people take things a step further by wrapping the thread around the needle before passing through the eye (for nicer topstitching), I’ve never seen anyone skip that thread guide altogether?
Anyways, I hope my comment is helpful. I enjoy watching your videos!

Thanks for your feedback! I did in fact not thread the serger correctly when filming this and did some rethreading between the initial steps and when I finally show the finished results. Since this video is not about how to properly thread this type of machine I did not think that important enough to refilm.
As for not threading the top bar on the straight stitch, I often skip this step and I never notice a difference between it being threaded or not, at least for the types of sewing I’m doing.

Thank you. I haven’t learn that before. Maybe i´ll finely start to use my serger ❤️

Sergers are still a pain but hopefully slightly less of a pain with this!

on your straight stitch you are missing the thread going through the guide right above the needle.

I often skip threading that one out of laziness and have never noticed a difference between it being threaded or not threaded!
