@@itsacharminglife it is my dream that some day i will start a similar voyage in my scion xb or my toyota prius, because of your video now i know that is possible, thanks
Thank you so much! It turned out to become a very belated response, but we wanted you to know that we appreciate that you took the time to write. Happy Holiday wishes to you from us! :)
I am obsessed with tiny homes and hers is so cool! Her father is so clever and I can’t believe she fits everything in that car! Thank you for sharing xx
Vantastic Pacifica I never fixed it. Been living in it full time for a whole year now. And it still has its rustic charm and sticky doors. I’m glad you like it :)
Simple and very effective, a very nice build and I'm glad that not everyone is obsessed with squeezing in a shower an office and all the other bits that people feel are so necessary but just at complication
Love the set up. My wife and I have traveled to San Francisco twice car camping. We own a 2006 scion xb and it's perfect for boondocking in urban areas. We finished a mini vacation using our new Honda crv from Los Angeles to Canada and we used planet fitness for showers. We are currently restoring a 1986 Toyota dolphin and I hope to start my own RUclips channel soon. Peace and love from southern California 🤙
This is Cassandra, Jesse's wife. That's the coziest Scion xB I've ever seen! Love the practical use of space, and how charming and rustic it looks inside!
I've owned 2 Scion XBs and I was considering getting another one just to convert for travel - thank yoU for making your video - THIS is what I'm going to do!
I would love to see a more in depth view of the frame work she put together for her bed. I have an Xb, 2012, that I want to do a conversion on, this looks like it would be just about ideal.
Totally awesome! You have given me a great idea with my 06 XB. BTW your male friend looks like a junior Car Angel. I thought that he was his kid. Keep up the good work. Thanks.
Those 1st generation XB’s are built like a tank, I got 250,000 miles on one, 15 years I owned it, same with 1st generation Tundras. Made in Japan those engines are built proof! I had stick shifts though...
I love this. I wonder if the second gen model would also work out tryingbto add all this? I have to say, I think I’d prefer a bed with all bins beneath coming out the back. Then you have a big bed for two and less in the line of vision.
djkenny hi! Thank you for checking out my build. My first built was a platform bed just like you described. The only reason I made it this way is only because I normally travel when it’s cooler and when it’s raining. I always had to get out of the car to get the bins out to get my clothes or to cook and it was cold and I got wet occasionally. But with this build, I literally never needed to exit the car.
Lot people doing this now. Few things people forget fire extinguisher and alarms. Private bathroom. Lot of places don't have public bathroom. And security alarm on the vehicle
Penny Roe Thank you for your comment! This is my car and it actually does have a toilet. It’s s bucket behind the driver seat. It’s very convenient having that and has been a huge lifesaver having it. And my car does have an alarm. The only thing I’m missing is an alarm and a fire extinguisher. I do plan on getting those soon.
Haha. So funny to find y’all here again. I was looking for a Honda element or Scion XB for my daughter to have a mini-camper car! Haha. Merry Christmas 🎁 Melody 🎵 Mountain Laurel Farm
Such a small world we live in, or small internet world i suppose! :) Hope you had a great Christmas Melody! Best new year wishes to you and your loved ones! :)
Recently got an xB & have a basic make-shift setup that I can sleep in it if I need to (no build-out, just mattress pad on top of plywood on top of tool box/spare tire) and after watching many micro camper videos on here (mostly for Honda Elements) I decided I want to do something just like this that a guy did for his Element, and there it is for the xB! It's perfect! Beautiful! Clever girl I don't see the link to her page, did she delete it?
Oh Hello, Thank you! Ya this one's really the best tour of your xBox, great adventure pics on your Instagram tho. Gold panning, exciting! I'm glad someone was there when you got locked out of your car! Hope you found a strong magnet box to put the spare under the car, I need to do it too. ryybreaadd is my Insta if you want to check it out. I mostly been posting our new dog but I just posted one of my xBox with the Rhino Rack I just bought. Happy Adventuring!
taradead hey! Thanks for checking out my build! Honestly the cabinets and the bed weighed just as much or less than the back seat that was removed. It’s not heavy at all.
Impressive. I am wondering if this sort of thing can realistically work for a 6 foot tall person though? My previous car was an '84 Chevy Citation II 4-door hatchback. I put the rear seats down, padded the whole thing up, and slept on the diagonal. I just fit flat in that. Now I'm trying to figure out how much LENGTH other cars really have.
Brandon Van Every Thank you for checking out my build! I’m 5’7” and it’s just right for me. But for anyone taller it would be pretty uncomfortable honestly.
I made a micro camper in a 2005 xb and I had to have a tall platform that folded out on a hinge. If I put the seats all the way forward it has just enough room to lay flat and I’m 5’11” I couldn’t sit all the way up either. The xb could work pretty well for someone 5’5” or so and not be too bad. But I was really limited in how much I could do inside. I built a pull out counter for a kitchen with the hatch open. It was a fun project and good for just sleeping on road trips, but it wasn’t a stealthcontained camper for me.
Leila L Hi! Thank you for your comment! I do plan on getting a small 12volt cooler in it. And I have a power converter that I charge everything from while I’m driving. And I have a couple power banks to charge stuff for over night.
Hey I watched the video on how to build this that you commented on (super short) and I know it's SUPER unfeasible to ask but could we possibly talk a little bit more so I could figure out the base floor. How did you secure your bed and dresser to the base? Or does that bed and dresser just standalone without any bolts holding it down? Did you use a piece of plywood as your base for the floor? I have the same car as you did you bump into the probably when building the base floor where the scions floor is a bit uneven where the very back is towards the hatch/where the spare tire used to be??? I wanna make sure i have a leveled platform that's secure. Lastly, your bed, obviously you built it yourself could you share any dimensions with me it looks like it goes to the very end of the passenger set if that's correct?
Funny how young people put so much into eating and drinking in their car homes. At 56 (and doing this for 35 some odd years). I need to focus on the other end of the digestion process.
