    If your vacuum bag is long enough, you can thaw it, take out one filet, reseal it, then refreeze it. I do it all the time with steak or ground beef.
    Or, if you plastic wrap both filets before bagging and freezing, you only have to thaw enough to separate them, then reseal and refreeze.

    Lori, I cut my acorn squash in half, take seeds out, drizzle olive oil and butter in center with s&p, sometimes cinnamon and bake. No peeling, scoop it out in chunks or mash. Your squash are nice and big. Steak looks delicious. Does grouse taste like chicken? i love salmon with dill on it. So many versions of lasagna, and yours looks great. Tacos look good too. You are in the middle of no where and are making delicious, healthy meals for your family. Nice video!!

      The grouse is the texture of chicken breast but is extremely soft and tender. (Unless over cooked) It’s a very mild flavor, maybe slightly gamey.

    If you guys want I can send you a few jars of our wild game, poultry and fish dry seasoning. Not sure how it would taste with red salmon since we developed it for mostly white fish like sea trout, snapper and flounder we catch here along the Gulf. Let me know in a reply and I’ll have it shipped out.

    A onion cutting skill UTube taught me recently- take off the outer dry brown onion skin but not all of it. Slice the root end of the onion to make a flat surface. Place the onion flat surface down. Starting at the top of the onion make slits in it from just below the top to the bottom. Put the onion on its side and firmly hold it together with one hand. Using the other hand slice into small slices. Remove the rest of the brown skin and the slick inner translucent skin. Then chop off the still intact top of the onion. You will have a fully chopped onion with minimal tears. I am 73 and wish I had known this trick the past 60 plus years I have been chopping onions. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️👍🏻😉Thanks for your videos! God bless!

    Nice to see what you eat. Do you just have leftovers or sandwiches for lunch? Breakfast? I know Rowan has to eat ...have you ever baked the acorn butternut squash? You cut in half and clean the seeds then place a pan, fork them and salt pepper and a pad or 2 of butter. Bake until soft and serve by scooping out and like mash potatoes. That is how my grandma did them. Was always on the table for thanksgiving

    Lauren Hamm another AK RUclipsr, ate undercooked moose meat with horrific consequences. I mention so you do not think some random is being mean. Just trying to help. 8f you develop any symptoms, especially little girl, get to medical ASAP. Not worth risks in my opinion.
    Eating undercooked moose can cause trichinosis, a parasitic disease caused by roundworms. Symptoms include diarrhea, fever, muscle pain, and a rash. If left untreated, trichinosis can be fatal.
    How soon after exposure do symptoms appear? Symptoms usually develop 8-15 days after eating the infected meat, with a range of 5-45 days.

    • @remotelifealaska
      @remotelifealaska  3 часа назад +3

      It’s is possible but it’s extremely rare in moose. This is typically only a worry with meat eaters like bears. The only way a moose would contract that is to eat vegetation that had scat on it from an infected animal.
      Either way like you said as long as it is not undercooked and the internal temperature reaches 160F it is safe to eat.

    Just wondering, with the small house you have and so much stuff on the floor, where does your daughter play and learn to walk? Also how do you keep her away from everything that can hurt her . Also where do you guys shower? I am really wondering I just can not understand how you guys do all of this

    • @remotelifealaska
      @remotelifealaska  4 часа назад +5

      She is in the living room area and there is a gate to keep her from the wood stove. Typically everything is not piled in the middle of the floor, but everything is pulled away from the wall currently working on the tongue and groove.

I'm much older than Lori and Cody my tiny grands keep me on my toes and I have wondered multiple times how they accomplish what they do. I'm not thinking negatively but more from the point of view that I need to learn to be more thankful and not grumble about my small home etc...
