Excellent work sir nice to see a fellow manual machinist at work I'm retired now but still making parts in my small shop great work thanks for all your info on air rifles just got a impact m3 not long ago your videos keep me dreaming of making my own little projects
My late father was a machinist he worked for the NCB repairing and machining bits to repair pit props etc. Watching you machine this brings back memories of me Watching my dad in the machine shop in duckmanton.
Glad to hear it, I grew up "helping" my dad take apart and fix things, and as time went on I gravitated towards the machine tools, so nowadays he still does the taking apart and mending then I make the new parts he cant fix. But I am glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching.
Lol, the old oil filter trick, surprisingly effective though, really any pressure vessel with a restriction at one end and a thread on the other will work, you could probably make a Pringles can work for sub 12 use with enough duct tape. Thanks for watching.
@@sub12airgunners Yeah, I'm going to try something similar to that for a paintball marker. I like shooting it in the garden but those things are loud. On another note I've had a little success with double regulators on a Leshiy 2. I managed to get another reg and plenum from Edgun Spain (I also notice Huma are selling Leshiy 2 regs too). Its a cobble together scree two plenums and regs together affair but it seems to work, but yet to test it thoroughly. On the positive side, so far it hasn't made performance worse.
@@R2D888 Fantastic, I really want to start messing around but I need a baseline indicator on the performance of the rifle before I start messing around, ranges open up soon so fingers crossed the tinkering can begin soon. Just had a look the the Huma site might get a second reg ordered, but I quite fancy having a go at making one, good tips though, I bet you have to have orangutan arms to handle the L2 with 2 plenums. 👍 Thanks for watching.
@@sub12airgunners Yeah, I've tried to make it as short as possible so changed to a compact butt extension into a standard plenum(130cc) with reg at 120bar into a compact plenum (110cc)with reg at 70bar. I believe the butt extension can made a lot shorter if you make your own, I'll also try two compact plenums at some point too. Bench rest shooting as it is seems more than acceptable in length though and at 5ft 7 I'm on the smaller side already. Would definitely look forward to see your interpretation of a double reg system on it though! I'm also experimenting with a screw and one valve system as I experienced some indexing issues (not related to the dual regs) after I changed jets. I've had to use the largest diameter jet of 1.3 I got from Edgun West and a screw. So far it hasn't had any more indexing problems but I think I could do with an even larger diameter jet. Keep up the excellent work on this channel! 👍
Hiya bud I found this really enjoyable to watch I just like the hole process of it and it looks like it's going to be a cracking mod when finished I really wish I could do this sort of thing or you did sell them cos I'd be interested in one, anyway keep up the great work on the channel pal and all the best
Thanks very much really appreciated, they are not for sale at the moment, I will have to look into if its legal for me to sell them but maybe in the future. Thanks for watching.
Lovely watching you fabricate, I need a moderator to hush my sub 12 Katran C, they are extremely loud with most available mods- I’ve tried, any suggestions please Jake?
Hi, its a Warco GH1230, very good lathe highly recommend it, the warco people are quite good to deal with and they have a show room that you can have a look at all the machines to find the right one. Thanks for watching.
You can't just fit a longer liner to a standard 500mm barrel you need the longer steel tube as well, I think there is someone making extensions now though, you could look on Airbuks channel he has a vid about the barrel extensions. Thanks for watching.
Sound moderators are sound absorbers. Sound is energy. If the energy is fully absorbed..There is no sound.. Shrouds are great. But why ? They have little volume.. They absorb close to nothing..But they produce eccos/anti sound.
Ranges have only just opened back up in the UK so a lot more tinkering time than shooting at the moment, but more shooting will be on the cards in the next few weeks. Thanks for watching.

Absolutely fantastic to watch and I've learned a little too. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks more vids on the way, Thanks for watching.
Excellent video, can't wait for part 2, you are a very talented young man. 👍👍
Thanks really appreciate that, more vids on the way.
On the other end of the quality spectrum, I made one out of a car oil filter and a bolt with 1/2 unf fitting threads once! It does work too!

I wished I did metalwork at school instead of technical drawing 🤣
Thank you! Cheers😀
Also been wondering, where do you get such thick wall tube from?
That is brilliant, can't wait for it to be done and see you test it. You are a very talented person 👍
Thank you very much! Much appreciated Thanks for watching.
Really interesting and a fine piece of work you can do also, wish I was able to make something so nice 👍
Thank you very much! its coming along nicely, more work still to come though. Thanks for watching.
Does aluminium moderator is strong enought to use on a break barrel air rifle with short barrel (like Theoben Evo carbine for example)?
Nice skills.👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you! Cheers! Thanks for watching 👍
I know this was a while ago, but, do you use a 2xxx or 7xxx series of aluminium? Some of the others are Very not going to take a thread cut that fine.

Is it interest8ng to do this machinery in a 3D-writer and if so have you got any blueprints to get it done ?
Nice videos. Enjoy them very much. Where can I get that 1/2 MANDREL?
we make them for the job we are doing 👍
Enjoying your vids. What lathe are you using as I'm after one myself. Cheers

Hello sir I have a question is it possible to buy one silencer for my maverick 5.5 mm from you or it’s just a hobby

Hi you might be able to help me out with some advice can I feet a 700mm liner to my impact mark 2 with a 500 barrel sleeve and shroud thanks hayd

That is just quality.. with all the tinkering around making this and that.. how do you find time to shoot 😀
