    I can't believe how well your moderator works, the bolt action was louder than the shot, just incredible. Just like others I wish I could buy something that efficient in noise reduction. I guess your next project will be how to make the bolt quieter. Awesome videos. Thanks again for sharing.

    Fascinating, also I would suggest the turbulence behind the pellets that can cause clipping is often the balance of pellet weight and airflow being out of sync, if the pellet is too light and fired through a long barrel, the pellet can exit the muzzle and enter the mod whilst the air is still pushing too much, inevitably causing turbulence behind the pellet, it may not cause clipping but will certainly open up groups, if heavier lead is used in the longer barrel, it will accelerate in the barrel for longer and have less excess air pushing as the pellets travels through the mod, using the correct weight for a given barrel length and air flow is critical for a quiet accurate shot 👍👍 keep up the excellent work btw, a brilliant video series

    • @sub12airgunners
      @sub12airgunners  2 года назад

      You have got it, yep lots more than meets the eye when it come to clipping its the balance of the rifle and pellet that can make all the difference. Thanks for watching

    Loving your videos, they've helped me know end with my R10. I've recently bought an M3 and the shop said you don't need an additional moderator, the standard is quiet enough but in my opinion it can never be to quiet. So, before buying a new mod. I thought I'd try something like what you've done here. But not having the tools or skills, I order a 3d printed baffle on line, wrapped it me felt. Its definitely quieter but I'm now getting a quiet hiss of air, like if it's trying to squeeze out of somewhere. Any advice, help it would be so much appreciated. Do I need to drill 1mm hole at the back of the moderator or shroud..?? It would be so much easier if you sold your items rather than us lesser mortals trying to replicate your work...lol.. and a good way to make money to help fund your videos, instead of merchandise.

      Thanks, very much appreciated. I have not, to be honest on the sub 12 rifles its so easy to get them quiet with these baffles that I have not needed to make anything more complicated, although in the future I want to make a silent rifle so ill be doing a lot more experimenting in the future. Many thanks for watching.

    Excellent engineering! Hats off! Amazing how much quieter it is compared to the fx mod.
    Have you considered integrating a chronograph into your moderator?
    I have made one that fits onto the end of the barrel (like a moderator) with a separate display connected by a wire.

    • @sub12airgunners
      @sub12airgunners  3 года назад +1

      Yes actually its on of the video ideas I have floating around, my idea was to take a Combro remove the excess mounts and make a mount to fit it inside a moderator, and add some LEDS and a usb port to take the data from the Combro into a android tablet using the blue shot cable. Its not a super high priority at the moment but its coming. Thanks for watching.

    • @iantcroft
      @iantcroft 3 года назад +1

      @@sub12airgunners
      That’s a good idea too. I wanted to do something like fx and have a little display on the gun.
      I am using a couple of IR photo transistors, IR LED’s and resistors, these are the only components needed to fit in the moderator so take minimal space, the led faces the transistor which forms a gate (trigger), two gates, in and out, pellet breaks the IR beam, gates have to be spaced 7cm apart (exactly).
      Have a little microcontroller, a little display and a battery and that’s all you need.
      Much cheaper than buying a crombro.
      I see you 3D print, are you into electronics too?
      If interested, I can send you the BOM and a guide how you can make it with the code.
      A man of your skill will find it a piece of cake.
      I compared my chrono with a commercial one and there was just a 4fps difference which I didn’t think was bad.

    Do you make silencers to order?
    I have a BSA super 10 MK2 FAC
    And without a moderator/ silencer 😂 it's LOUD ,
    I have tried to make different types to make it better and I found that the original type that came with the gun ( spring with cups worked the best ,I used the internals but put a bigger can on it ( made out of a spray can ) with a felt liner inside the can worked fantastic way quieter but it was flimsy , have you tried anything like this ?

    • @sub12airgunners
      @sub12airgunners  2 года назад

      Thanks, unfortunately we don't make them to order, although with the internals its all about how the air interacts with the baffles, every rifle is different and they do take a little experimentation, sometimes with excessively loud rifles we have found drilling a 1-3 of 1mm holes along the length of the mod helps to get rid of excess air and quietens them down a little, although in some rifles it makes no difference, and again with the filling we use a combination of craft felt and scotch brites to make the wadding wrapped around hair curlers, that works well for us, then delrin baffles 2mm thick with a center hole 1-1.5mm bigger than pellet size. With that setup even very loud rifles get quiet. Thanks for watching.
