@@SOLOMOTOUK Take your time running it in & after grease & relays & a re flash won't hurt either you'll be thundering down the road & have smiles for miles. The first 100 miles is the most important not to do more than 15miles max & let it cool down for at least 20mins to take heat out of engine then put another 12-15miles on it & same again till 100miles.After that don't ride more than 35mins till 300miles then no more than a hour till 1200miles.
It says in owners manual don't exceed 4000rpm till 300miles but I would do 600miles & 4000rpm is about 100kmh(60mph)in top gear so more than enough. After 600miles don't exceed 5000rpm in top gear 120kmh & bike will loosen up & get faster over time.Running in can take a while but is rewarding at the end.
Also I would wait till 400miles before adding k&n air filter & slip on's.Oil cooled engines need a slow & easy run in compared to water cooled.

Hiya. So, just to confirm, I took delivery of the GT650, and the bike was cutting out, especially when rolling to a stop at a junction.
The relays were bathed in white grease. I didn't replace, I just cleaned them all up, got rid of 90% of the grease and it hasn't cut out once since. Have about 3200km with no problems on it now. Wouldn't say they were cheap/nasty relays, just the amount of grease is mental. Same goes for a connector in a rubber boot in there, cleaned all that up as well.
The GT650 comes with the touring seat, and I have to say, its comfortable. Have done 300km in a day with no real issues or pain, a little inner thigh discomfort after 4 hours, nothing a tea stop and a 5 minute walkabout doesn't fix.
Lastly, I was getting a rear brake light issue as well, (not as regular as you, but a couple of times) and I changed the levers (Diablo K-speed jobs) and again, no further issues at all.
Keep with it, she'll be a stonking little bike once the teething issues are ironed out!

If you're having cut-out issues - after removing the white grease; take a careful look at the relay spade female connector. Have heard of the female connectors being unseated in the mounting block, making intermittent contact with the relay. I suspect that's more common than any failing relay.

The bike is great value for money & with abit if cash spent on it can be a great bike & still be cheaper than anything else.Derek is right about Euro 5 being leaned out more for emissions. It is hit & miss with Euro 5 models some just need new relays with twice the amps which increases the idle a little bit & improving fueling & starting so bike doesn't cut out under deacelleration. Some Euro 5 models need a re-flash either way clean grease off relays it is saturated in it & use a lithium base dielectric grease spray which is thin.Over time the R.E grease brakes down & looses it capability to carry current.I had one friend who's E 5 cut out & had it re-flashed 3 times then finally cleaned grease off & bike ran mint.
Another mate's bike Euro 5 cut out repeatedly & he just kep't riding it & after 600km bike got better as it run in & stopped cutting out.Others have had no problems on E5.Best thing to do is clean grease off relays and use a lithium dielectric grease spray on day 1 or 2.Also order Hitchcocks Relays or Bosch with twice the amps to improve starting, idle will increase 100-150rpm on cold start & be 50-75rpm higher once warm.
Fueling be improved & fuel pump run better all from Hitchcocks Relays.
Iridium spark plugs will improve spark & bike run cooler which is better & R.E spark plugs are super thin.R.E probably makes their own Relays & have R.E logo on them & made out of cheap componentry & probably worth £1.
Spark plugs are probably only £3-4 each one.R.E probably makes the grease to & own their own oil refinery in India.
Classic 350 is a later model & doesn't seem to have same issues as R.E650 or Himmy,Scram.
I would recommend on any new R.E650 or Himmy,Scram cleaning grease off on day 1-2,order Hitchcocks Relays, Iridium spark plugs definitely on Himmy.
Hitchcocks Relays twice the amps £35 for 5pack.
Remove grease free, Dielectric grease £10
NGK Iridium spark plugs £20 each.
£65 all up & 30mins of your time is not much for peace of mind & an improvement on starting, fueling, idle
Better spark & cooler plug & thicker tip & none of these mods will affect warranty. If cutting out still persists bike is under warranty & a re-flash is needed.Bike will run better & truly are great bikes once £65 spent on basic mods.
Bike will have false neutrals while running in & get less & less & might not find first but gently moving gear shifter or turn bike off & on will remedy this but after 5-600miles gear box be broken in sufficiently.

@@ruahinesrider it almost seems like you're getting the true experience of purchasing a classic British bike where you have to do some fiddling to get it sorted! I have it in my head that whenever I want a break from big adventure/sports touring bikes I'll probably pick up either a Bonneville 900 or a Royal Enfield bike, in particular the 350cc engine seems very sweet but the ergonomics of the Scram 411 are also perfect for me. I really like the look of the Hunter 350 that's supposedly coming out though!

Thank you for the brilliant advice 👍👍🙏🙏🙏

    • @ruahinesrider
      @ruahinesrider 2 года назад +1

@@Geshmaal £50-£80 is nothing to improve bike & you can spend £1700 on a R.E650 & still be £1800 cheaper than a T100,W800 & not every one wants to or can afford to spend £10,000 on a one bike or you could by 2 a classic 350 or Scram,Himmy or even BSA if they any good. They are great bikes & new 350 seem to be trouble free being newer.I would recommend these bikes to anyone but tell them they need £50-80 spent on stock 650 or 411.Out of all the modern classics truly look the best & at a reasonable price.Idealy owning a R.E & maybe a Triumph Street Twin,T100 or Motoguzzi V7 be the ultimate line up in your shed.If you do alot of long distance touring a more expensive
T120 but the modern Triumphs are water-cooled & if that ain't your thing the Motoguzzi V7 has a 21liter tank & is a capable tourer or a air cooled Harley Davidson & second hand 1200 Sportster I wouldn't bother with a 883.You can your on anything but if you live in USA or countries with higher motorway speed limits a bigger bike will do it easier but no fun in riding on motorways all day & they have a slow lane but back roads is where the most fun is.

Solution to the problem: Re map ecu by upgraded software from RE done by the dealer and the bike rides like a dream and the problems never to be seen again. Most euro 5 models need this re map done at pdi as per re.

I got mine back in 2019 and, on a couple of occasions it wouldn't start first time.
I was having a look to see if I could figure it out, couldn't believe how much white grease they'd put on the relays.
I cleaned off as much as I could and the starting problem hasn't reoccurred.
At a later date I'm definitely going to buy a set from Hitchcock's, mine are fine, apparently it's the latter bikes that may have dodgy relays.

Derek thanks for your honest vlog...so different from the Press Releases that are passed off by 'journalists' as reviews!
I live in India and I have been plagued with reliability issues from Day 1. Most have to do with the design and low quality of components.
India is a price driven market and hence RE are trying to get the right balance between what is acceptable (in terms of quality, reliability and safety) and how it impacts the price. Here are some of the issues I have faced. My fuel injection suddenly failed at 90 kmph and before I knew it was almost hit by a delivery truck.
The chain guard is made of the cheapest plastic and can be quite brittle. This somehow snapped and got pulled in by the chain getting lodged in the engine sprocket. The rear wheel locked and I fell; fortunately no bones broken. Is this just a freak accident?
Twice I've had the rear brake calipers cease and the bike cant be moved till the brakes cool down. Mind you I never ever ride with my foot on the brake pedal and only touch the brakes when required. The electricals are poor, the lights are powered by candle light and the suspension is very, very basic. The seat is terribly uncomfortable and just good enough for a 30 minute ride. I do not buy RE's argument that it can be replaced with a touring seat. This is just another way of making money by sale of 'spaces'. Why cant they just sell the bike with the right seat? The rear seat is even worse and just not meant for a pillion rider. The rear foot-pegs are placed very high due to the monstrosity of exhaust system which add weight to what is already a heavy bike. Even the mirrors are pretty much ineffective offering little visibility. And RE are rust buckets!! Bikes half the price come with better suspension, LED lights better quality components and certainly more reliable. RE should buy Hitchcocks. That would sort out many of their problems.
And I like your Yorkshire terrier. Don't see them anymore in India.

Hi Raj I think being honest like you think people would say this to royal Enfield so they can sort this out over here in the Uk 🇬🇧 it’s classed as a budget bike pay for what you get they all come with 3 years warranty here.
Some of the parts are very very cheaply made eg indicators cheap chrome plastics they will not last a couple of seasons.
If Royal Enfield upped there game and put better quality parts on and charged a bit more it would be a brilliant bike but there’s that many aftermarket parts for sale you can make it a much better bike.
Has for the reliability I had second thoughts but my bike is an E5 emissions it strangles the bike I was told the E4 version is better but since I took it back and complained and said I was going to contact Royal Enfield and Complain they gave mine and ECU flash it’s sorted my bike out plus I’ve bought a few parts from Hitchcocks relays DNA filter different exhaust that are lower to the ground instead of sticking up like rocket launchers hate them to big to heavy like you say they get in the way. I’m off for a week but the bike goes in for its first service a week on Monday so let’s see if there’s any changes.

I use a Trip Machine Suede seat which I love & is grippy no sliding around & is narrower & lower than stock or touring seat.Unfortunetly the Trip Machine seat has increased in value by $120(£70)since Uncle Stu Fillingham done a video on it.I got mine months before Stu Fillingham video & it cost me $380 delivered but I see they $500 not delivered now, perks of being on Uncle Stu video I guess.
Your bars should of been tighten at dealership as bike might be shipped with bars removed same with brake lever these ain't a R.E problem but a dealership not checking properly.
Bikes have bars removed & can tip on shipping etc.Alot of garages a remapping & not cleaning grease I would clean all the grease off & not use any or use a dialectic electrical grease spray which is thin. Also clean grease off battery cable connectors above relays as well.Grip puppies will increase the diameter of grips & help with vibrations.Mirrors always loosen on new bikes so pays to check them. The Enfield Precision mufflers you want have a clamp that covers the join where they connect,on Hitchcocks website on the slip on page at bottom it says related parts & has a link to clamp.
Hitchcocks is amazing business & should be the go to shop for R.E.
