I grew up with Zinc Oxide then in 2020 I needed some new Sunblock and none had it. I finally found some, but it has Titanium Oxide in it as well. The Zinc Oxide was only 4% too for a 50spf tube. Knowing now that Baby Diaper Rash has a high concentration of Zinc Oxide in it that I now know what to get (still check the label though). Thank you.

You just saved me tons of money, for the rest of my life, thanks a lot man! Edit: Nevermind, I cannot advocate doing that, I tried doing something similar using HB pencils reduced to fine powder, lithium grease and vaseline and it is not working as intended. The temp goes through the roof, and the cpu fan spins like crazy over minor load such as a RUclips video ; which means the paste is simply not doing its job and the CPU is overheating. Perhaps I did something wrong, I don't know, but it's simply not working for me. I'll buy thermal paste tonight...
Nice video! I was looking around my house and found some dielectric grease for my car. It might be better than vaseline since it's meant to withstand higher temps. I also have a small tube of graphite lubricant for locks. All I need now is that sunscreen.
Have you thought about swapping Vaseline for Super Lube? It says it has an operating temp up to 450F (230C). I checked silicon grease too, operating temp up to 180C. This might seem like overkill for semi-conductor heatsinks but useful for 3D printer heat cartridge bridging to the heat block. Thanks for the info & video!
Having done a little more research on grease alternatives, when using dielectric grease like super lube for high temperature applications (like 3D printer hot end compound): "Dielectric grease produces formaldehyde when used in high temperatures and can irritate the respiratory system and eyes. Always consider under what temperatures you will use the grease before applying."
Took my house inside out couldn't find a zinc based product, then i googled zinc oxide and realized i have a container full of that shit in my room i use it for body odor we call it zax(zakh) thanks for the great video m8
IT WORKS! its even better i have an 11t gen intel core i5 and it stays in 35 to 40 celcius at 100 percent load woth using more effective that buying an mx-5 thermal paste!!

Interesting, 10 degrees delta is a lot! I wonder how the other properties of your paste matches up against. You should stress test the paste and produce it if it gives you good results!
Zinc oxide is also in zinc white oil paint, in fact that's what it's made of, zinc white powder (as the pigment) and linseed oil (as binder). Linseed oil will harden in contact with air, so maybe other oils added will help. Good to know if you're trying to make thermo paste and you have painter friend or art supply store nearby. Zinc white oil paint plus graphite, both available at the art supply store. Some stores will have pure zinc oxide available, as it is a standard white pigment used in various art mediums. Titanium white available as well, it's a more opaque pigment, though not sure of its thermal conductivity. Carbon black (lamp black, soot) is a carbon powder of some kind. Worth testing for thermal conductivity instead of graphite powder, because you can make soot anywhere, or you just take it from grills and bottoms of pots and pans, where people cook over firewood. Will try some of these, thanks for sharing, I had no idea it's that simple 😄
i use sudocrem an irish brand nappy cream its ingredients are zinc oxide. lanolin. benzyl alcohol. benzyl benzoate. benzyl cinnamate. but it has worked well for me
I would assume there is some sort of brake fluid or vehicle grease aswell that you can use. They are made for high heats and meant to go on all sorts of metals and surface, and are certainly oily and goopy forevever
You can get high purity zinc oxide at an art store. It's used as a white pigment for paints. Get the dry pigment, not the paint. I don't know if titanium dioxide will work.
Great idea, thanks! Only thought I have is that, in my experience at least, petroleum jelly becomes very thin and runny , almost liquid-like at sustained higher temps. So may want to watch closely for any squeeze-out after sustained high heat loads ( especially for spring loaded heat sinks.). Re: 4056! hacking, I came up against that a while back. You can use a resistor outside the spec shtetl range for higher current, to a degree at least. Needed beefy heat sink , and it helps to get the input voltage closer to CV voltage (4.2). I used a shottky diode to take the 5v supply down maybe 0.5 to 0.7 ish volts under load , taking some load off the 4056. But to get the current up substantially, I also ended up using 2 or 3 4056 in parallel. This works fine and in fact there are many charging boards and other chinese electronic products using charging ic in parallel. I paralleled the module input and outputs, as well as the chip pins for the two LED indicator circuits, removing LEDs on all but one of the modules .
Thin and runny is actually good because it will fill in the gap between the 2 metal surfaces and that's what you want. Problem is, people use too much of it thinking more is better. It's not the case here. Great idea on the TP4056 hacking. One problem with adding a resistor before it gets to the unit is that it will add more to the load of your 5V power supply. That means to achieve 2A charging output, you'll need much more to compensate for the schottky diode.

(not in line with power.) shottky diode in line with power supply, with appropriate current rating and heat sink as required . the tp4056 is linear. it's basically a smart-ish resistor that burns off whatever voltage needs burning to match the charge /cell voltage and achieve the programmed current, (or 4.2v constant voltage at the end ) . The input power supply current will always be exactly the same as the charging current; there is no DC DC conversion going on with the 4056 . There are other boards out there that have buck converter style conversion, with an inductor etc.. more efficient less heat, but more expensive. check out TP5100 based board, for example ..
Basically thermal grizzly kryonaut is thin and runny at high temp and thats why it's a best spreading thermal paste, best performing. Manufacturer advises us to reapply every 3-12 months depends on the usage because the thin and runniness has a cost of squeezing out to the sides. As a result you almost no longer have thermal paste between your cooler plate and CPU. It's especially nasty on laptops and GPUs. I opened my GTX 1070 to find that the die and copper plate was almost squeeky clean.

Hey V, you can use a syringe 💉 that is used for children medication. You cab probably get it free at your local Walgreens, if you don't have some laying around. And an a wire cap for a spill preventer. I actually use those for my 2 part epoxy. Works great 👍🏼. Great find with this thermal paste brother.
I'm doing the same with chargers and testers for 18650s. How about silicone with graphite when you don't want the heatsink to slide off? Water based lotion might work because it's said that water speeds up the curing in pure silicone.

Instead of graphite,use copper powder see what happens or diamond dust from a jewelry store mixed together with graphite grease from a electrical store.(I'm over do it a little bit)

I'm not sure about the conductivity issue because I'm applying it to components on a PCB that aren't typically covered.

a bottle of antiseize is fairly cheap @ auto store. I believe it's graphite but they also make it w/copper. Both are conductive so don't get it on your traces.
hi there i had the vaseline and graphite but the sunscreen was only0.99% zinc oxide and it has 5.0% zinc oxide and 7.5% octinoxate which ive never heard of im nervous and havent turned on my computer waiting til i can figure this out im gonna try and google that stuff but i dont understand conductivity anyway so it might be a waste of time if anyone could help i would grately appreciate it. thanks for the video!

seemingly forever as it contains 2 oil based products. -no water, or rather barely any water = no drying out- so, technically speaking, this man could pull the heatsink off after 1 year usage and the homemade paste should still look shiny/gooey/sticky/slimy ect. and because of these properties, the graphite in the mixture can't "move" and thus conductivity should retain. i have no clue on how fast graphite/graphene powder or liquid degrades over time or if it even degrades.. so you'd have to research that yourself to get an indication on how long this will last.
100% agree. i wouldn't risk destroying my 3K custom build PC/Workstation on a hack thermal paste. I also like to save my beautiful manly finger nails. lol

I noticed that battery has rust. I have threw away many rusted 18650 cells that appear to hold charge and there is no puncture leaks. Don't know if its venting or from getting wet. mostly pulled from power tool batteries. So I assume they got wet in the rain while working. but I don't want to take the chance so I end up recycling them.

I mixed my thermal paste with graphite powder and it works just fine with my PC. I was just worried maybe overtime the graphite will conduct electricity that can cause to short circuit.

I have made a diy thermal paste from silicone oil and graphite powder. It worked great. My laptop is happy and don't overheat

Your HB was not of the highest level of quality, you should better gone to build depo, there where you graphite. Use silver powder too.

Copper powder is electrically conductive, so graphite is safer for the case of GPUs

As for the second laptop, which is the one I used, it no longer wants to stay running. Can you show me a solution or would I like and prefer to buy a better thermal cooling paste? No, it lasts for around one year. You can change it easily every year.

What about it's performance over time? Last time I made thermal paste with vaseline it dried out in less than a year.
You can use sudocream it has a lot of zinc oxide

seemingly forever as it contains 2 oil based products. -no water, or rather barely any water = no drying out-
so, technically speaking, this man could pull the heatsink off after 1 year usage and the homemade paste should still look shiny/gooey/sticky/slimy ect. and because of these properties, the graphite in the mixture can't "move" and thus conductivity should retain.
i have no clue on how fast graphite/graphene powder or liquid degrades over time or if it even degrades.. so you'd have to research that yourself to get an indication on how long this will last.
For Silikon Grease you can get easy Liqui Moly in a tube. I have it =)
100% agree. i wouldn't risk destroying my 3K custom build PC/Workstation on a hack thermal paste. I also like to save my beautiful manly finger nails. lol

Yes, my PC is still running after 1 year. And yes, this thermal paste is conductive so you have to be careful when using it.

Not really. They use metal oxide in normal thermal paste like in the sunscreen cause it is not conductive.
this paste is good but not recommended for beginner because aluminium/silver as good conductor so that material have a high risk for beginner ...

I noticed that battery has rust. I have threw away many rusted 18650 cells that appear to hold charge and there is no puncture leaks. Don't know if its venting or from getting wet. mostly pulled from power tool batteries. So I assume they got wet in the rain while working. but I don't want to take the chance so I end up recycling them.

Just use Plumbers Silicone Grease it works just as good as Thermal grease.
Even better if you mix in a bit of Graphite Powder in it .
The melting point of Vaseline is lower than that of silicone grease. Wouldn't that be a problem?

I mixed my thermal paste with graphite powder and it works just fine with my PC. I was just worried maybe overtime the graphite will conduct electricity that can cause to short circuit.
