I come to you often to remember my mom who sang with the White Bear Lake, Minnnesota chapter. She just loved to " Harmonize The World " Thank you ladies for your everlasting gift.
During my hospitalization I listened your your performances. Your smooth, rich and energy-filled music warmed me and calmed me. I’d love to attend one of your shows since I do live in Phoenix. Thank you for helping to make my hospital stay a lot less unpleasant.
@rarchnick The overtones produced are between 12000 Hz and 16000 Hz, perfectly audible. I can hear em nice and easy. You just have to listen. Women's choruses also almost uniquely produce undertones, which are also really cool.
Hey, Lori, i just bunped into this---you all did a great job! Sorry we couldn't be there, but you know Scott was working on his own show in Yakima at that time, and was also too ill for me to leave him alone. I trust all is well with you--Scott passed away in March, but otherwise i'm surviving. GOD bless you and the group, kiddo! Love you! ---janey
Fun to come across this by accident, one week after hearing your fabulous Swan Song performance! Perfect timing for me, as I missed much of last year's webcast, and hadn't heard your championship performance before now. Thanks for posting (Can it be that you're continually improving? I think that's the case!) : )
Yes, it doesn't ring the same way as the men's voices, but it DOES ring, and quite well. And the video doesn't do it as good of justice as it does live. And this chorus SANG and made MUSIC...they didn't yell at the audience. ;-)
In the first double quartet in the chorus!! She was a Bass and sang well and was so enthusiastic!! ...we used to practice at different houses and got to know each other well.. Thank you for giving me another happy SAdeline memory!!
+Judy Beach Did you know my sister Linda and sister-in-law Marilyn who also sang. Before moving to Florida in 2013, I used to go to The Como Park Pavilion annually' to hear the chorus…so much fun! BE WELL!
I hope you are feeling better now! What a wonderful compliment you’ve given us. Please check out our calendar on www.scottsdalechorus.org. I hope you’ll come see us soon!
Unless you have the hearing of a dog and can pick up the overtones they might be making, you can't hear ring either. Its tinny and has a distinct lack of expanded sound. You simply can't compare this to a chorus such as westminster and say its even in the same ball park. I'm not saying that it isn't well put together and in tune and all that stuff. It just doesn't ring. And those outfits are just awful, but that's par for the course with sweet ads. Its almost required.
@beatricedewarynton on the contrary, I'm a long time barbershopper. I'm just not impressed by this, it lacks the lock and ring that top male groups achieve.
I beg to differ. No, they did NOT "earn" this medal. Twice they skipped regionals in order to go up against lesser choruses so they could win & go to international the next year so they would once again be up against lesser choruses to take first place. They weren't as good as the better choruses such as San Diego, Harborlites, Melodeers, etc. so they had to manipulate there way into 1st place. Not to mention the director kissing up to corporate for higher scores. The ONLY real first place international medal they really won was under their previous director Bev Sellers!
+swtsngr85 Doesnt the 1st place chorus have to miss the next 2 competitions? At least in BHS that is what happen so IDK if that same rules implies. I know the the chorus "Vocal Majority" won 10 consecutive Golds but all were 3 years apart.
Wow. So inaccurate. In 2009 Scottsdale didn't win regional, they were a wildcard draw which qualified for international 2010 and won thereby making them 2011 champs. Also...kissing up and manipulating? Not true (ethics is big in Sweet Ads) but how would you even come to that conclusion?
Carol Mayka is one of our favorite people. Congrats to Carol and all the voices of the INTERNATIONAL CHAMPS!!
The precision and artistry - and they make it look oh so easy............I get the goose pimples every time I listen to this video.
hahaha I love Mrs. Lyford !! she's one of my favorite choir teachers!!!
coming from a VM background
that is one powerful chorus

The chorus that wins in the Fall of 2010 becomes the 2011 champions. The typo is the final zero being left off 2010 (i.e., 201[0])
Just as exciting as it was Contest Week!
love you ladies!!
you make my day!!
Holy damn this is good. It's fun to hear a chorus do this song, especially in the Sweet Adeline's competition

so true! listen to 1:29 and tell me that doesn't RING! whoot!
One correction in your description. You said in October of 2011, its only 2010. Sorry.

@rarchnick...are you deaf? They ring the bejeeeezus out of everything. CLEARLY the winners of that contest.
合唱
I don't get it, they won, but nothing really rings....
@rarchnick your kidding right?! you gotta be deaf or something..
It just doesn't ring like the guys do, not even close.
