Bell's Palsy and my First 48 hours: The Important Facts

- Over the weekend I developed the nervous issue called "Bell's Palsy". This is where one side of your face becomes unresponsive. Getting to the doctor to get checked is the most important part of this process.
I want to raise awareness because this happens to 40,000 a year and a lot go untreated for days or weeks. That can slow down the healing process.
This video is mostly for me. It reminds me of the issue and how I looked when I regain functionality to the left side of my face (there is a 1% chance of this being permanent, but a great chance of recovery because I caught it early.

Had this at 22 (I am 52 now) I was alone and it scared me to death. Took about 6 months to get fully better with doctors help. God bless anyone with this. 🙏
I’ve had this since I turn 12. It was so hard then. Thank goodness more people are more informative and supportive. My only advice is to never forget who you are at heart.
@A Place For Gratitude what vaccines are you talking about?
Do you still have bells palsy?
I’m 18 and I just got diagnosed with Bell’s palsy yesterday, I hope and pray that all of us make a speedy recovery
My sister have bells palsy
Did any doctor recommended massage the effected side up towards the ear and hair line never down always up?.
Came down with Bell's Palsy last week, I had previously had it when I was 41. At that time I think it lasted about 2 months. I have it again and I am now 72. It's a little unbelievable that my body can do this. Yet I know my body will regenerate it self. I talk to my face letting it know it's doing great.I try never to feed my mind or body negative information because it listens... Take loving care of your self.
I got this when I was 9 and it has come back just this morning. I don’t want to be made fun of again. But you helped me to feel not alone.
Sorry to hear it came back. Anyone that makes fun of it is not a friend. But more important: Own It.
Been there, i was in middle school but it feels worse now
Your not alone.we are.here.for.you✝️🙏💋🌹🌸
I'm diagnose of bell palsy a week ago. my doctor tell me all the negative news and only one positive, telling me it doesn't kill the patient
Ashton Clemmons my name, is DOLORES. I am 83 yrs and on SEPT 17 I LOOKED IN THE MIRROR AND WAS SHOCKED. I THOUGHT I HAD A STROKR. BUT THANK GOD I DIDNT but it was Bells Pasley. I had never heard tell of I went to the ER. MY FACE WAS ALL L CROOKED AND PARALYZED. BUT NOW ITS NOW. OCT 9 TH AND MY FACE IS FINE BUT I HURT IN THE DIDE OF MY NECK AND EAR AT TIMES BUT IM BELIEVING FOR COMPLETE HEALING. THEY ONLY GAVE ME A WEEKS MEDICINE. 3 DIFFERENT KINDS. SO I AUME THAT WAS ENOUGH??
I also got diagnosed with bells palsy 48 hours ago. I was actually vacationing with my wife in Honduras. A day before I found out I had bells palsy I also felt everything I was eating tasting kinda off, I didn't put much thought to it tho. I also felt my rigth side of my face a numb sensation in my jaws, but I was ok. The next morning I woke up and went to brush my teeth when I notice whenever I hold water in my mouth all the water would come out of my rigth lips sides. I didn't know what was going on...I thought the toothpaste numb my mouth or something. I didn't put much thought to it tho, until my wife later saw my face and notice my expressions. She notice my rigth eye was not blinking and I was only smiling in one side. My wife actually started to freak out and she then started to freak me out. I thought I was having a stroke or a heart attack.... My wife took me to the hospital to see what was happening to me and well here I am.
All I can say is that keep it positive we all will recover from this, get face therapy and practice your face movement to speed up the recovery. We can get all better soon, thank you for sharing your bells palsy story with all of us. It really helps me and other suffering from this. Thank you!😁
Its been less than 24hrs since I've been diagnosed. I was so scared thinking it could have been a stroke, then still got scared when I found out its Bell's Palsy. This video really cheered me up, thank you for your positivity - its contagious. Let's all recover together!!! 🎉
how is your recovery going?
I have a family member going through this and this video made him feel a lot better. Thank you.
I am going on one year of right side Bells Palsy. it goes from mild to extreme, I am thankful it's not a stroke. I do have a small tumor in my right ear I lose hearing off and on. I pray everyone with this will be healed soon.
Sorry to hear. Hopefully the tumor can be removed so things can clear up. Thoughts going your way!

When you got Bell's palsy did you lose your balance and feel very dizzy?
Going through it currently. About to go to ER. Noticed it yesterday. Hoping you recovered completely.
Any updates on u? Are u recovered?
I also had a mri and was cleared of stroke thank God
I got it in 2015 and I never fully recovered. I still deal with ear pain when I laugh out loud or with loud noises. I still cannot raise my left eyebrow on my own and I still have problems with my left eye when i speak or eat. I do have my smile back but i still feel nerves on left side tugging & twitching. I only had enough money for the first doctor visit after I got out of the hospital. Thank the Lord it was not a stroke. I was given a weeks worth of steroids for pain in the beginning and that was all I had done for myself so I know that is why I still have problems so please If you can, keep going to doc till it is resolved.
My mother has had Bell’s palsy since 2014. She tried everything but nothing helped. Mama got super depressed about it but we just kept reminding her that she was still just as beautiful as ever.
Man, I can't believe your positive outlook and you, my dear, are one unique individual. Thank you so much for sharing this!
Thanks! Tell your friends!
Just got diagnosed a week and a half ago. My mother had it 24 years ago in her case she had spinal tap done MRI and CT Scan tons of blood work done and two nights in the hospital. My brother younger than me suffer it 16 years ago it wasn’t as traumatic as my moms. I was only in the ER for 6 hours was released with antiviral and prednisone eye creams and artificial tears. It’s pretty scary at first I thought it was worse since 6 years ago I had a subarachnoid hemorrhage and was thinking I was another one. I pray that all of us with neurological conditions healed for our family’s sake. Stay strong to all ❤🙏🏽🙏🏽
I had it for 6months and almost lost my military career because of it. The doctors ran ever test they can think of and come to find out I had Lime Disease undiagnosed for over 2 years. Was an extremely scary experience. Hope everything works out for you and it don't take long to come back🙏
What? They kicked you out because of this??
Did you face come back?
Have you tried cats claw?
I got diagnosed with ths 3 weeks ago. It's slowly getting better. Not fast enough for me though. Thank you for your video I am sure it's helping people.

I was just diagnosed last night, scariest experience of my life being treated as a stroke patient. Thank you for this!
Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm hoping for a speedy and full recovery and all my very best wishes to you.
Prayers for a quick recovery
3 days in.. thanks for being so positive, it's giving me hope!
Thank you so much for your video. I just got diagnosed two days ago and I can’t lie I’m beyond terrified but seeing how calm you are gives me hope and a great outlook for beating this. I got mine from having severe eye allergies combined with a sinus infection and woke up from a quick nap with it. Stay strong to others out there suffering from it. Thanks again for your video.
It's frustrating, but I have seen many get through it. George Clooney for one...
OMG! I have been having severe eye allergies since January. I have had total face swelling and dealing with horrible itching, burning and redness of my eyelids. I wonder if this is what caused it. I am almost completely healed from my allergy....hmmm. Thank you for stating this.

@@snehalchandgude6489 Thank you. I am healing well. My first few signs were, my left eye was twitching badly for a week. Then my lips went numb a day before the complete onset of the Bell’s palsy . I hope this helps.
Great video. Thanks for all the information.
Thank you for all the information! It really help me understand it. God bless you and may you get well soon!
Overcoming a trait you can add to your resume. Man I am so impressed 2 months you got through it. Hope your Mom is doing well. Life is crazy never know what comes your way. That's why I pray against these things. Against anything permanent. God be with you and your family.
I've had 3 bells Palsys. I hate it idk why O keep getting them since I don't want any medical it issues. 1st time was at 8years old, 2nd time at 12 years old, 3rd time at 30 year's old.
I didn't watch the full video, but I hope you were able to recover from this. Thanks for sharing because I know there are other people who will find this extremely educational.
Love the positive attitude. Thank you for the video! God bless you! ❤️❤️
I went through this many years ago. It was super scary and I felt kinda silly too. My first explanation to someone was, "I can't feel the full range of motion on one side of my face." I didn't know what else to say. I'm really moved by how well you are handling this and sharing the experience with others. It totally cleared up for me and I sincerely hope the same for you.
Did you also have the issue of taste? It's gotten a lot better for me, with only a small part of the left-side being numb-ish.
Thanks for Sharing! Here's hoping it clears up speedily!
Thanks Michael!
Hi mate.

Thank you for this video. I am a single mom to a daughter who has special needs. So this really scared me- thinking I had a stroke. I was relieved to hear it was Bell’s palsy as well- but still had many concerns. Thank you for making this video- you have provided good information with great comfort and even humor. Thanks for using your situation to help people. ❤
Awesome!!! I am in the VA hospital right now for bell's palsy. I was admitted yesterday because they had to run some test for stroke to rule out those systems. I noticed it after two days because the numbness seemed heavier on the right side of my face. I totally agree with this video as I am going through it right now. Thanks for making this video to inform the masses of bell's palsy.
Thank you for doing this video. I just got it yesterday.
Thank You for making this video. My friend was recently diagnosed with Bell's Palsy. I had no idea what this was. This was so informative and helps me understand what she is going through.
I was diagnosed 3 days ago I've been on meds since. This video definitely help me feel better about it. Hope your feeling better.
I can actually wink now! I can only do it once, then have to rest for a while. We also noticed my blinking syncs better. So keep your head up! ;)
Good for you😊😊😊i hope i can too im i have Bell's palsy for 2 years im just 20 years old please help me😭😭😭🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Sorry to hear you're going through this, but I'm glad to hear it wasn't a stroke. Medical issues are scary sometimes. Our most recent scare was my emergency gall bladder surgery in May.
Sorry to hear. Glad you got through it! Thanks for the good thoughts, too!
Thanks for making this video. My mom was diagnosed last night and is on steroids. Glad to see you had a ton of improvement since you made this.
I love the positiveness and cool approach you have! Specialists do say that calm and positive attitude do help improve the recovery. Thank you for sharing your story. I am doing some research for my husband, who was diagnosed today. It started yesterday. Fingers crossed he will recover quickly.
What you did was really brave and I appreciate that you shared critical information on the topic at such an early stage of things. I watched some doctors videos and it was informative but impersonal and you did really well to capture the experience of the patient. Thank you.
You're welcome!
Thank you. Experienced all of these symptoms you described last night and today but feel fine. Was on the fence as to whether to go to the doctor or to wait to see if it gets better. Based on this, I'm off to the emergency. Thanks again.
Came here to say your video put me at ease. I just got diagnosed after one day of feeling off. I’m on my 3rd day with my face numb and I’m on prednisone and an antiviral. Hoping to get over this soon.
What you are describing in point on for myself. Including thinking it could have been a stroke as well as driving myself to the hospital. Very scary experience for me! Thank you for sharing your video. I’ve started taking the prescribed medication and praying for the best. God Bless
Great video!! Thanks for sharing. I had a male friend at age 19 had Bell's Palsy and my older brother did too. And, a lot of people do not understand Bell's Palsy. Thanks for enlightening us.

How are you doing now? Wow matey, that must have been terrifying. I have so much admiration for people who help people. Fantastic stuff. Thank you.

I think I may be coming down with this. I noticed my tongue was kind of tingling on one side last night, like I had a shot of Novocain earlier in the day, and it was almost worn off. Now, today, I’m having trouble moving the muscles on the right side of my face.
