Bell's Palsy and my First 48 hours: The Important Facts

  • Over the weekend I developed the nervous issue called "Bell's Palsy". This is where one side of your face becomes unresponsive. Getting to the doctor to get checked is the most important part of this process.
I want to raise awareness because this happens to 40,000 a year and a lot go untreated for days or weeks. That can slow down the healing process.
This video is mostly for me. It reminds me of the issue and how I looked when I regain functionality to the left side of my face (there is a 1% chance of this being permanent, but a great chance of recovery because I caught it early.

Came down with Bell's Palsy last week, I had previously had it when I was 41. At that time I think it lasted about 2 months. I have it again and I am now 72. It's a little unbelievable that my body can do this. Yet I know my body will regenerate it self. I talk to my face letting it know it's doing great.I try never to feed my mind or body negative information because it listens... Take loving care of your self.

I also got diagnosed with bells palsy 48 hours ago. I was actually vacationing with my wife in Honduras. A day before I found out I had bells palsy I also felt everything I was eating tasting kinda off, I didn't put much thought to it tho. I also felt my rigth side of my face a numb sensation in my jaws, but I was ok. The next morning I woke up and went to brush my teeth when I notice whenever I hold water in my mouth all the water would come out of my rigth lips sides. I didn't know what was going on...I thought the toothpaste numb my mouth or something. I didn't put much thought to it tho, until my wife later saw my face and notice my expressions. She notice my rigth eye was not blinking and I was only smiling in one side. My wife actually started to freak out and she then started to freak me out. I thought I was having a stroke or a heart attack.... My wife took me to the hospital to see what was happening to me and well here I am.
All I can say is that keep it positive we all will recover from this, get face therapy and practice your face movement to speed up the recovery. We can get all better soon, thank you for sharing your bells palsy story with all of us. It really helps me and other suffering from this. Thank you!😁

I still cannot raise my left eyebrow on my own and I still have problems with my left eye when i speak or eat. I do have my smile back but i still feel nerves on left side tugging & twitching. I only had enough money for the first doctor visit after I got out of the hospital. Thank the Lord it was not a stroke. I was given a weeks worth of steroids for pain in the beginning and that was all I had done for myself so I know that is why I still have problems so please If you can, keep going to doc till it is resolved.

My brother younger than me suffer it 16 years ago it wasn’t as traumatic as my moms. I was only in the ER for 6 hours was released with antiviral and prednisone eye creams and artificial tears. It’s pretty scary at first I thought it was worse since 6 years ago I had a subarachnoid hemorrhage and was thinking I was another one. I pray that all of us with neurological conditions healed for our family’s sake. Stay strong to all ❤🙏🏽🙏🏽

I think I may be coming down with this. I noticed my tongue was kind of tingling on one side last night, like I had a shot of Novocain earlier in the day, and it was almost worn off. Now, today, I’m having trouble moving the muscles on the right side of my face. I can still do all the things you reported being able to do when you saw your doctor, but now I’m worried that it will escalate. I’m planning on going to urgent care when I get off work in a couple hours. I’m so glad I found your video.
