Car has 42k and blowing hot air on driver side. Dealership wanted over 2k stating compressor needed to be replaced. I passed! They had to recharge with freon after "diagnosis" and cold air is now blowing....for how long I don't know, but I'll ride it till it gets hot again and recharge. If it is the whole system, why fix part of the problem? Honda needs to recall and do what's right by their customers!
I live in Florida and have to pull over and throw up when I'm driving since the heat and humidity are so intense here. The problem started less than one year after I bought my new 2017 Honda Civic LX and they refused to cover the repairs. There should have been a recall, but they chose to screw their customers.
Thank you Sir for these details. You saved us $2k by educating me on the recall and providing the service bulletin. The world needs more good people like you. Thanks again.
They only did a recall on the condenser and compressor but they didn’t do one for the evaporator the most expensive and hardest of them all to fix so now we gotta pay 2,800 in labor to get behind the dashboard to fix it
@@djlifebenjamin9345 Yea bro I went all summer with no A/c since they wanted to charge 2k just to take the dash out I’m thinking of selling during the winter
I added Freon a few days ago and it was cold and working..i parked the car that night wake up the next day and the AC is blowing hot..i hope the dealership fix this issue for free since it's their fault
Very helpful information. Thank you! That’s exactly what’s happening with my kid’s 2016 civic. Gonna check all those noises and see if’s similar to what you experienced with that one. 2016 with not even 40k miles on it.
There are no current permanent solutions for this issue. Honda is aware of it and they are hiding behind a 10 year extended warranty on the condenser. All 2016-2019 Hondas have this issue.
There was a recall, correct? On the condenser. I took mine in at the dealership to get it fixed, And it still blows hot. I don't know where the mishap is. I'm going to my regular mechanic
I’d say yea… other day I was sitting in my car on idle at a light and felt warm air blowing at me I was like wtf 🤨… ac is off… huh?! This was like Sunday night… today I bought one of those vent scented clips turned the ac on the make the scent spread and ac didn’t turn on.. had me confused now I’m here looking for answers… I mean… at the moment I guess no biggie.. it’s winter.. but def something will need to be done (edit 2019 civic sport btw)
@@IamIzayis I took mine in, and they said it was covered. I wish I had the paper they gave me on hand, but if you've never been in an accident, and the condenser is not damaged, it's a factory defective condenser. So what happened when I went in was I asked my dealership mechanic to take pictures for my own liability purposes incase it wasn't covered. It took about 30 minutes for the verdict. The guy was very friendly about it, and explained they fix them daily, and 2 other's were getting theirs fixed at the same time as me. Ultimately it was 2.5 hour fix, so go in with 3 hours to stare and spare lol They fixed it 100% free, and it works again, actually a little better. (2019 Civic base model)
Honda is a joke!! my daughter's 2018 did same thing and took it to the dealership and they said she hit something which put a hole in the a/c condenser. they wanted to charge $1100 to change out the condenser. I did it myself. there was no evidence that she hit something. honda just wanted to make a quick buck. now I've got to replace the compressor.
My 2018 civic AC broke just before 3yr warranty expired. The compressor was replaced. It was all good but broke again less than a yr later. I took it and was told the condenser, compressor, and evaporator had leaks. They fixed first 2 free under recall extended warranty. The wanted $2800 for evaporator. I told them to kick rocks and i called corp to file a complaint. They covered around 2k of the cost and i would only pay 1k. They said if theres a recall later for evaporator they will reimburse me the 1k. Think im just gonna get rid of the car before it breaks again. I lost faith in honda. They dont make them like they use to. If you have AC issues, i would call their corp to file a complaint. Hopefully they will issue a recall on the entire AC system. I see it as a safety concern and environmental with these leaks.
Honda charged me $400 to to put the new freon in and then told me the compressor and suction hose were leaking. They said they would fix the compressor leak for free and I would have to pay $1080 to replace the suction hose. I now drive a Subaru ...
HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED TO DO! I complained to American Honda but they only offered to PAY HALF and their offer was only valid for 30 days!!! So I called a LEMON LAW attorney and after 6 months I won $5K they take half so I took home $2.5 which was just enough to cover the part. 2018 Civic LX condenser went out 1st year under warranty, compressor went out 2nd year under extended warranty NOW the evaporator went out just outside of the extended warranty. Love Hondas but this is BS
Is there a lawsuit we can claim in? This issue has completely disrupted my life- I cant even use my vehicle to take my kids amywhere. Ive kept making payments while it just sits and rots. Literally the last Honda I'll ever buy.
Honda quality has gone down in the past decade.. I’ve own 5 Hondas in my lifetime and all the vin # had started with a J in front which means made in Japan now I don’t think any Honda is made in Japan anymore. Having the same issue right now with my son’s 2016 and have an appointment next week to get it look at for the extended warranty service.
I have and 04 Acura TSX's Vin starts with J. It still run with 395 thousand miles and has an MPG 31 miles a gallon. It will never die. The new Honda are junk.
