- This is just a quick example of one trike that locksmith have, this video will show you how you can make a trap key and make your lock not usable very quickly, and also how you can undo and remove the trap key. Hopefully you will never need to do this, but its a very good way to get your customer to rethink trying to scam you out of payment
Been a locksmith for 23 years.. next time, file the key thinner, only file 1 cut and head the bow attached.. you can use a pick to push up one pin and pull it out after they pay. I had a non payer years ago.. i had installed IC system on an apartment building, I went around and changed the cores on the exterior doors. Over 100 tenants could not get in, after months of not paying me... i got paid that night.
I love this. I have been thinking about making a key that you can push into the lock and a part comes back out leaving the keyway blocked and the bolt locked. I want to be able to come and put the one part into the lock and then remove the whole key when they pay.
True story: A plumber once shoved a 3 foot piece of 4"X 2" wood into a sewer pipe before he laid it, because of an issue he had with the builder. Be nice and kind to tradie's and ALWAYS pay your f@#$ing bills...
If I caught a plumber doing that to my pipe that 4X2 would be shoved somewhere else in a hurry... LOL
You can also use Motel Key made by Sparrow if you want to block a lock but not destroy it. It's just enough for making the person understand.
those can be simply removed with a lockpick, or a paperclip.
LPL has a video...[1212] Lockout Keys And How To Defeat Them
covert instruments has ssf harpoons that go into a key organizer for $20 gives you 4 of these and a removal tool.
What makes people mad is when they're locked out and the locksmith shows up and pops the door open in 15 seconds, particularly with a snap gun, and then wants $50 to $75.
Most people think it's a lot harder to open locks than it really is. It's also a flashback to the $150 to $200 they paid to have the lock installed.
"You mean I paid $200 for this lock, and this guy can come along and pop it open in 15 seconds?"
Kind of like an ambulance ride. "You mean $2,000 and it was only 1/4 of a mile to the hospital?"
People are free to not use the services or look up how to do it themselves. If the locksmith is upfront with their prices and you dont want to pay just because it took 10 seconds to get in then its your own fault. Locksmiths spend years learning the trade, they deserve to be paid just like anyone else.
@@Fanta.... It was not a judgement on locksmiths, it was just an obervation.
For most people it can be a very upsetting and frustrating experience, when they are locked out of their car or house.
$50 to $75 for a skilled person to show up at your place to do anything is reasonable. Try paying SS taxes, workmens comp, general liability insurance, repair/maintenance/depreciation on a service vehicle.
There is an easy non-invasive method to simply remove the jam key by extracting it.
LPL has a video on it, using a simple self-make tool from a simple lockpick shim decoder tool. [1350] Defeating a “Killer Key”
This is not "the killer key" That "Killer Key" works on one trap pin, mine works on 5, and can't be removed the same way\, two different things using the same technology in different places

Very nice job my friend, I think Sparrows makes a disable lock key like that, but it's cheaper to make your own.
There is also something called motel keys that Sparrows makes to disable the lock temporarily
The keys that you are thinking of is called lock busters
Nice trick. Interesting that it would go right through. 🍺😎
It's called a kill key, and can be extracted easy enough
@Bud Borne it would only need to be removed once
How can it be vandalism of someone's lock when if they haven't paid then in theory its still your lock .
It's vandalism because the lock is on THEIR property and so you trespass by entering the premises without their permission. The correct thing to do is either call the police for theft of services and/or file a lien against the property.
Nice
Thank you for your time
maybe where you live that works.. here it's malicious destruction of property and you go to jail for a short while or the customer calls you back and puts a bullet in you in which case you'll probably go in the ground permanently ... best to let the courts decide
In that's case , I just walk , I would not try this in the US, but you are right its vandalism
@@DrLockShop trade contracts (generally) are civil issues so the police don't involve themselves in these situations. Civil is usually under common sense rules so you can modify your own property (you can't sue yourself for JB welding your own plug and neither can your neighbor) but leaving a turnable key has a great chance of getting you in civil and legal trouble since it can considered as malicious (act/intent/malice/ect.) since you're intentionally removing the security of a home or facility. Oddly enough though, taking your lock back and leaving a gaping hole in a front door swinging freely is not an issue since it would be considered forbidden compulsion if you were forced to reinstall your lock without payment (theft.)
As for guns, you can just get a bigger gun.
Very interesting idea my friend!
Thanks for sharing!
I watch all your videos and I'm a subscriber as well. Cheers
Thanks Mate
To save your files, stroke only forward. Drawing back flattens the file
I made a lock that I rekey and if you use the new key the lock works but if someone attempts to use the old key the old key will get trapped in the lock
Good old T pins
Sounds kinda like construction keying. Keys A work until key B is used, except yours is tamper evident.
Actually, these keys can be removed with a piece of fine but sturdy wire... or the right extraction tool.. without taking the lock apart. I've done it dozens of times. If a locksmith ever pulled that trick on me I can guarantee the lawsuit would be a lot higher then whatever he claims the service was worth.
Had too do it twice once I layed out the geezer when he started pushing me nothing like a good right hand on the chin
Has anyone tried this in the field? I doubt the police would come out if I reported theft of services.
Theft of service & parts & time is not seen as a crime the police call it a civil matter and it's up to the business to take the person to court. Yes it has been done in the field, also removing the handle lock from the outside. But most locksmiths just suffer the loss as its bad for business to be right or take action
@@DrLockShop makes sense thanks
If someone made a bunch of theses keys and went on a spree shoving it in everyone locks, how would the culprit get caught?
The same way they get caught for all the other forms of vandalism that people do
How much is it for the keys in lock
I can get trip keys out easy
I just put Abloy protec2 and 3KS on my door. Yeah
Just rob their house or make a key and steal their car, that'll show em..
You disassemble the lock, remove the pin, remove the key, reassemble the lock(including the pins)
Michael bell how
Oh yes I vet that too
Also I know how to remove the key if something like this video happens
only because u don't want to pay?
You ain't getting jbweld out
there is another way to get it out, but it would go against the spirit of why these were created in the first place.
If someone do this to me I a ask the person address and I’ll do it to the person who did it to me
🤣🤣🤣 Sure like someone is going to tell you their address after they do this to you. You live in a different world my guy.
@@BukuiZhao CyberCatnip is right.
Fanta but he is rude
@Cyber Kidnap rude
@@BukuiZhao he is rude, but were you not rude to begin with xD????
No what you do is go to a shady neighborhood and hand out a box full of their keys and let nature take it's course.
lol
Ha
oh god, you are right tho sir. don't f*** with locksmiths, they can ruin your day real fast.
Just drop them on the sidewalk, with one of those nice little address tags.
I am locksmiths
how many are you?
@@Fanta.... 😂
If you have a customer not paying you... perhaps take a good look at how much you are charging. Lazy mans job.
lazy is good.
That's true, however "look at how much you're charging" in most people's mouths sound like "I'm not paying 40 bucks for a 10 second job", not understanding the skill needed behind, and the knowledge, training and practice that went behind it. Now, if the guy is telling you it'll be 300 bucks, it's another story. But every job has its worth, and it's certainly not up to the customer to decide what that is. DYOR before calling a trade professional.
If the price or rate was given upfront and you still choose not to pay, you should've chosen to find someone with a better price before agreeing.
