Let's have some fun with this one everyone, it was a blast to make. Loved this time and my favorite Video Game Heroes going all Animation on Saturday Mornings. Please click the like, subscribe if you haven't and write a comment...I am damn good about getting back to almost every single one. Thank you. Oh, and can you name that famous Video Game Score as my Background Music? Would love to know if you know.
Love the 80s video game cartoons. Also, dragon quest had an 80s cartoon called dragon warrior out in america and the odd mario spin-off king koopa's kool kartoons with bowser hosting cartoons.
Really? I think I remember the name Dragon Quest, but I will have to look both up. Thanks for watching and commenting....NOW Share it if you can, lol. Thank you
What killed going to the arcade for me was one day all the games were a quarter and literally the next they were $.50. 100% inflation overnight! (For all you pedantic people out there I am using literally... literally. Went to the mall after school on tuesday and games were $.25 and when we got to the arcade wednesday they were $.50.)
I am old enough to remember that they were 25 for a loooooooooooooooooong time...and then I remember them going to 50 and I thought, THIS BITES, lol. Agreed. Will do an an entire Arcade/VG Retrospective one day, and include that.
Pole Position was the one I liked the most even though it really didn't have anything to do with the video game. I'm still mad that we never got toys from it.
We didn't know they were Mid - Low quality. There were fun at the time! Pac Man was the most influential, because they actually made the proto- SMB PacLand! (Also, Pre-Simpsons, notice?) Now it's non-canonical with a more sonic-like identity for Namco's Pac Man
Of course we didn't know their quality. They were often shoddy, but you can be both "cheesy" and awesome at the same time...especially when we were kids.
LOL. The cereal makes it all worthwhile! Yeah, at some point I watched them all. Actually, I never watched Cpt. N, I knew of it, saw it in passing...but NO. lol
It bothers me that we're not likely to ever get high quality re-releases of any Saturday Supercade cartoons. Yeah, they were just "dumb" video game cartoons, but getting to watch and share them again would mean a lot to me (and I bet a lot of you, too!) Also, I will always be a TLOZ apologist. ALWAYS.
Totally with you. SO many of that era are found on copied vhs and youtube, but they are HORRIBLE quality. Wouldn't it be nice for all of those to be remastered? Well, excuuuuuuse me, lol
Sounds like you starting your "experience" with the VG/Cartoon revolution around 1989. Those were the last 2 of that fantastic decade, with the others having been around much earlier. Still, you did experience it.
You have made my weekend. Thank you, it is so nice to get comments like these. I'm beginning to plan expansion and diversifying content that I hope you continue to enjoy. Yes, I've got to hold back using any AI for as long as possible.
When talking about video-game based cartoons in the 90s, you missed one: Mortal Kombat Defenders of the Realm. Other than that, enjoyed the trip down Memory Lane; THX much
It can be agreed Link's cartoon design is an accurate representation of his Zelda 2 sprite and even his fully grown design in Captain N is kinda cool. Zelda doesn't look too bad. Although it would've been better for her personality to be closer to what we see from Zelda 2. It may not be much, but her in-game personality seems more along the lines of a responsible former ruler (with the Zelda 1 Princess Zelda still being in charge after Zelda 2).
I like your well thought interpretations. I was always surprised that people that animation was poor when there were things like DOnkey Kong Jr and Frogger (YIKES). I do like the design and SOME of the characterization of them in the cartoons. I would assume it is difficult to leverage much from the limited game play personality...but they didn't do HORRIBLE. Thank you so much for your comments, I appreciate them.
Off the subject, but I wanted to recommend Retrowave Cinema channel. It's retrowave music linked with movies from the 80's. Many of these movies I completely forgot about. I'm sure many of you know about this channel, but I thought just in case many of you would enjoy it.
I m really liking the video game action figures available at the moment. I ve got sonic and mario and I m trying to acquire the werewolf from Altered Beast although living in the UK he's not easy to find 😕
Me too, and with how bad things are getting with toy distribution in the US...I can ONLY imagine how frustrating it is across the pond. Thanks for watching.
Nick Arcade is the only thing I could find. I don't remember it at all, but maybe that is because it started in 92. However, it had a great run until 97. I bet there are a lot of fans. Thanks for watching this show.
The 1980s seem like they were a pretty woeful time for cartoon and anime adaptions of video games. Even to this day studios mostly struggle with the adaption process but that was generally worse back in this decade. Ironic how it seems like Pac-Man was the best attempt for the west back in that specific decade and it literally was the first ever attempt at a gaming cartoon. As for anime adaptions at the time, the best one was Super Mario Bros.: The Great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach!.
Of course once the 90s rolled around; Sonic SatAm easily became the best western gaming adaption at that point in time. As for anime, the best adaption became Street Fighter 2: The Animated Movie.
I'll give you that the animation was lackluster and simplistic to say the least. But we loved them for being cartoons of the video games....well most of them. Some were, as you say, WOEFUL.
No, I cannot let you say that and not get chastised. Qbert is not a game about getting to the top, it's about color changing squares on a pyramid. what else are you getting wrong?
H, you're right. It is about changing colors. It'd been so long since I played. Thanks for the clarification. What else? I know, watch every single one of my videos, make a list, and make sure to chastise me. Thanks for the views in advance.
Although I did originally think they put the original version in arcade AFTER the success of the cartridge, I was confusing Pitfall 2. That is what I played on cabinet. Thanks

That whole album they put out was wild.
That PAC Album? Oh yeah, I would have to agree with you.
@@GENXPERIENCE honestly my favorite is probably Frogger's lament.

Or just say the next day the price went up.literally wasn’t needed, you didn’t seem to be exaggerating or being metaphorical.
Pole Position was the one I liked the most even though it really didn't have anything to do with the video game. I'm still mad that we never got toys from it.
You may be a fan of that animation style for sure, since MOST of the others were western. I have to admit I love the cars from the cartoon version.
You consistently make me laugh out loud with your content. Great work!!
So glad you watched...and that this one was funny. I hope so..>NOW SHARE IT, it needs more engagement, ,lol.

Yay, Saturday Supercade! I loved that show, and I think K.O. Katy was my first cartoon crush. Feel free to judge me as you will.
lol. NO judgement....it was a blast to have our VG friends go all animated. Thanks for watching.
Wasn’t aware of lots of these cartoons
in the uk. Fascinating stuff!
It does stink that so much is missed by both our countries not exporting some of their creations.
I think I watched most of these, but I know that I definitely tried all the cereals!
LOL. The cereal makes it all worthwhile! Yeah, at some point I watched them all. Actually, I never watched Cpt. N, I knew of it, saw it in passing...but NO. lol
Love the 3 Nintendo cartoons
I think they were my favs, too
Saturday Supercade Donkey Kong, and Joey 🦘.
You know what you like. And I love me some DONKEY KONG, too.
It bothers me that we're not likely to ever get high quality re-releases of any Saturday Supercade cartoons. Yeah, they were just "dumb" video game cartoons, but getting to watch and share them again would mean a lot to me (and I bet a lot of you, too!)

I would watch the mario cartoon. The other cartoons you shown had reruns ending around that time.
I also watched Captain N.
Sounds like you starting your "experience" with the VG/Cartoon revolution around 1989. Those were the last 2 of that fantastic decade, with the others having been around much earlier. Still, you did experience it.
We love watching your videos every Saturday morning. Thanks! And appreciate you not using AI. It's so NOT Gen X!

I love a red head
Me TOO!
In your 90s wrap-up at the end you missed the Wing Commander series.
I have never heard of those, thank you
When talking about video-game based cartoons in the 90s, you missed one: Mortal Kombat Defenders of the Realm. Other than that, enjoyed the trip down Memory Lane; THX much
Nice catch. Yeah, I totally didn't find that one at all. Of course it is more for the 80s, but I still tried to include some 90s. Thank you

Great video! Does anybody remember the name of the video game trivia show on nickelodeon?
Nick Arcade is the only thing I could find. I don't remember it at all, but maybe that is because it started in 92. However, it had a great run until 97. I bet there are a lot of fans. Thanks for watching this show.

Kangaroo was a hit though. Atari published it in North America.
Absolutely...I just didn't have a connection. But know there were fans
There also was a non-canon Pac Man story / song record! Where is that now?
Oh, my. You just turned on a memory for me. I do remember that now.
I thought Dragon's Lair aired on ABC
It was. I must be crazy, I truly thought it was the same station as its brother Space Ace. Well, there you go.
No, I cannot let you say that and not get chastised. Qbert is not a game about getting to the top, it's about color changing squares on a pyramid. what else are you getting wrong?

PAC-Man didn’t inspire those games. It did lead to the creation of PAC-Land though.
I think I may have confused that content I researched, thanks
What a trip down memory lane. I loved the game Frogger, but I never watched the stoner Frogger cartoon, looks like it was a massive letdown.
Yeah, it wasn't good.
What's wrong with "stoner-looking"?
🍀
Not a good look for the Swamp Gazette Reporter Job
when was pitfall in arcade?
Although I did originally think they put the original version in arcade AFTER the success of the cartridge, I was confusing Pitfall 2. That is what I played on cabinet. Thanks
@GENXPERIENCE haha no worries, it happens 😊 it just had me thinking lol I've been playing arcades since pacman... the good old days
