I wish i could have seen him in person. But i am so glad he came into my life. Cause i dont think i would have made it this far without him. I know i can make it the rest of the way through life with the rich library he left us. Thank you John.
I first heard JP when I was living and working on Guam. He is little known here in Australia. My opinion, he is one of the greatest singer song writers of all time.
Can’t even put into words how beautiful this song is. Sad to say I’ve only very recently discovered him and his music. Not sure how I made it 47 years in life and not come across his awesome music before. Heartbroken also to discover he passed away last year. Feel like I’ve missed out on a ton of greatness but will delve into more of his great music. Thanks John and may you Rest In Peace sir.
Look at it this way, Brent - you've got a gold mine of tender & creative music/lyrics that you're going to get to enjoy. He was an excellent poet/writer and he introduced us to a gentle, real, sensitively human reflection on life. You're entering a music candy store and only 7 years old! Enjoy. ruclips.net/video/L21Tc_DtL6M/видео.html

John is a very good human being we are lucky that we had him remind us to be a little more kind and a little more patient and loving to our Beautifully flawed brothers and sisters. And I am at the top of the list at being "Beautifully Flawed" Thanks, John
Have you "lived" Randy Newman? Leonard Cohen? Bob Dylan? Those who assert that a particular individual is "the best" of whatever the field tend to be people who don't look beyond the one particular individual. It is an extremely closed view of life, and ultimately dishonest.
I have been listening to John Prine for 45 years. I discovered him by buying an 8 track. It was Diamonds in the Rough. It drew my attention because it was a hot pink color. His picture on front and because I have always felt like a diamond in the Rough. From that day in 1972, I have been hooked. I got to see him in concert twice. Both times he came to our small town in Troy, NY population, 49,000
this man wrote the sound track of my life, can't think of many days in the last 40 yrs that i haven' listened to a john Prine song,he has brought me thru the bad times and helped me celebrate the good times
I'm a 36 year old dyslex John Prine FAN. Remeber smokin and gettin high in the early "70's" listening to all I could get hold of. I wonder how a man can write so many GREAT Songs?? I'd like to hear some of the things He didn't think were worthy. He seems to perfect everthing he sings and plays. Lyrics are unsurpassed!!!
Ever since I heard of John Prine (way late in my own life), I'll mention him to others and they are always fans. "Hey folks, don't hide your light under a bushel. Spread the good news and tell more people about John."
Every time he's on .every version.he sings and plays. He for sure got his standing ovation when he crossed those pearly gates.the world at a loss Mr john prime.may you rest in peace.god love.with tears in my heart.

I love John Prine. Just discovered him within the last year or so. He's also turned into a really adorable looking old guy, reminds me of Droopy the dog, or something, lol.
I often wonder how he would look now if he hadn't had the cancer surgeries. It changed his looks, but he is still my #1 man. Most talented songwriter ever, and I am a huge Dylan fan.
Went to see John in Vancouver BC Canada great performances will never forget that night !one month later bob Dylan was playing at the same place in Vancouver couldn't ask for better, both of my favourite singer song writers in the same year! @watergrandmother -- good observation and very accurate I think.........his extreme disappointment with the government of the day....W Bush. He wrote something similar called `The Great Compromise` back in the 70s about the state of the union at that time. Great Songs by a great artist.

It makes me sad that so few are familiar with John Prine's work one of the greatest song writers of all time! Rest in peace John Prine

This song is actually called "Taking a Walk" from the Fair & Square album.
John names this tune in the first 28 seconds.
Taylor510ceL9 Well you did fine by posting this video but the song is named "Taking a Walk" one of my favorites from his Fair and Square album.

JOHN PRINE LYRICS
"Taking A Walk"
A man came to our house
I believe it was yesterday
I would have invited him in
But I didn't have a lot to say
His anticipation of me opening the door
Outweighed my apprehension as it never had before
And drove my concentration
Right through that hardwood floor
I'm taking a walk
I'm going outside
I'm taking a walk
I'm just getting by
There's a girl in the white house
I don't even know her name
Her disheveled appearance
Speaks volumes of shame
It's an embarrassing situation
But a situation just the same
The way she walks on others
And never takes the blame
Upsets my constitution
Beyond its mortal frame
Oo-oo a-ha
I'm taking a walk
I'm going outside
I'm watching the birds
I'm just getting by
Found a card in the pocket
Of my worn out overalls
From a girl in Cedar Rapids
Now residing in Idaho Falls
I wish you could have been there
When she opened up the door
And looked me in the face
Like she never did before
I felt about as welcome
As a Wal-Mart Superstore
0o-oo - a-ha
I'm taking a walk
I'm going outside
I'm taking a walk
I don't need a ride
I'm watching the birds
Flying so high
Wanna be? he just wants to be John Prine. And he does it quiet well
