Great comparison video. I am on the fence about getting an A7c or A7IV (while also considering a Canon R6). Question… what camera & lens are you using for your talking head portions of this video? Looks really good (sweet lighting/color!)
First of all I just started watching your channel and wanted to say thank you for the content and the way in which you break things down. If you get a moment I would like to know your thoughts. Based on the price difference would you recommend this being a good camera for film or do you think that it's worth it to just go with the FX3? Thank you for your time.
Matthew, really appreciate the kind words and good question. As is often the case with Qs like this it comes down to your use case. The FX3 is excellent and will excel in low light and high framerate 4 especially. If you don't massively need those things the a7iv is vitually as capable in all other ways and is significantly cheaper. If you don't need the quality of stabilisation and 10bit colour footage the a7c works very well and again is cheaper, so it comes down to your use and price appetite to strike the balance. They are all good but have different trade-offs at different costs. Thanks for watching, consider subbing if you enjoyed and have a great day!

One YT-er (a Sony ambassador) made a good point that the shutter protection on the A7-IV is generally useless and even a bad idea to use it, because the shutter mechanism is very very fragile thing and breaking it can be easily done. Also if dust gets inside the chamber even with that shutter down the dust would still get on the sensor when powering on the camera. The reason they allowed the shutter to come down is due to popular demand. Even when you turn on the feature it warns you that you shouldn't touch the shutter, Sony knows it's a bad idea.

Repeating to myself : I do not need an A7IV. I do not need an A7IV. I do not need an A7IV.
Who am I kidding. I've fallen completely down the Sony Rabbithole - ZV-1 Point and Shoot, ZV-E10 APS-C, and now Full Frame....arrrgh
Me tooooooooo
The ZV series is like a gateway drug 😂 Like the matrix taking the red pill, except you wake up with a nice camera and a lower bank balance instead of in a dystopian future 😂
The alliteration in this video is next level. Can you script some of my videos?
Steve, you’re far too kind but I really appreciate the nice feedback:)
Thanks for watching, consider subbing if you enjoyed and have a great day 👏
'Visual Migraine' Gonna write that down, LOL!
One of the many weird things I say 😂 Glad this one left an impression:)

Which lens is best for a7iv?
Hey Sumon, it will totally depend on what you like to shoot.
I’m a big fan of the Sony 20mm f1.8 which I’d say is the best choice for vlogging:

Great video 👍
Thanks as always Tora:)
I wish I could upgrade right now from the a7iii...but it's not in my budget atm the new dials menu and flip screen don't really matter to me but the 10bit colorspace, the new video tracking, tracking while hdmi is attached, bigger grip are what has me hype. I just want one but I need to just use what I have. G. A. S (gear acquisition syndrome) hits us all when Sony releases a new camera.....everytime lol
SPTV, I fully agree; easy to get ‘GAS’lit with so many new releases haha 😂
I think you’re right about some of the ergonomics v a7iii but compared to a7c it’s like a whole different experience.
I hope you get one IF you decide you need one and have fun shooting regardless:)

Tell us more!!! 🙏🙂🙂
Giorgos, lots more a7iv stuff planned but if there’s specific things you’d like me to cover let me know:)
Why aren't folks in the States getting the a7iv?
No idea Richard - global supply chains combined with Sony not providing much info makes it anyones guess - hopefully US delivery starts asap!

You too😮 i thought you love a7c😔
I am polyamorous when it comes to cameras 😂
I still love the a7c and am having major second thoughts about whether to trade in to offset some a7iv cost, the compactnesses of the a7c remains awesome but some of the new a7iv features are irresistible 🤤
Did you drop the fact you had Covid? I think you did. Damn Sam
Not to my knowledge 😂 Which bit are you thinking of?
Can’t wait for the sensor comparison. That should be interesting. Just picked up an a7c and didn’t realize the A7IV was in the picture 😁. So if it’s better to keep the bigger pixels with the a7c for low light etc then I’ll just stay as I am…otherwise… I may as well go for the 33 megapixels!
Hey David, the low light comparison is done now: ruclips.net/video/zfsL2yPUFDY/видео.html
Hopefully it’s helpful! The a7c remains a strong option so see what you think!

Do you really prefer that saliva get on your shutter? Much easier and safer to clean a sensor than a shutter.
It’s a good point Jason, at least I know how to clean a sensor and a shutter would be a more complex task. Strong observation!

Appreciate the review, but appreciate the alliteration all the more. Sub successfully subdued.
Superb succession of saying Shang. Really appreciate the kind words and great to have you on board 😃👍
But poor lcd screen, low burst rate and big roling shutter
It’s true Romain, I don’t personally find the screen or burst rate too much of an issue. The rolling shutter has been manageable in video but I’d have preferred lower megapixel and better RS 😂

Wow money better spent on better glass. The chromatic abrasion very harsh int his video.
What shots are you thinking of Craig? I’m mainly using Sony 20m f1,8 and sigma 35mm f1.4 and haven’t notice much CA but I’m typically sprinting to get these vids done around the day job each week 😂
