- This Zamperla Giant Discovery rotating pendulum ride opened in 2012, when it replaced the Pittfall drop tower. Standing 90 feet (27m) tall, it reaches a height of 146 feet (45m) in full swing with an angle of 120° from the center.

Yes! It certainly does! I was on it when out of nowhere it started pouring rain & I'm telling you the rain hurt! Lol
Best ride in the park! I wish it had a longer runtime! I keep trying to find a day when nobody is there so I can just keep going, haha✌🏻
At first it’s not that bad really like once you take that first spin up and you go straight up into the air you’ll get use to it 👍🏾👍🏾

Freakin intense! And i though revolucion was bad at knotts lol. These rides get my adrenaline going more than most coasters.
Oh man, I remember being scared shitless to go on this ride. But I build up enough courage and waited in line for almost 2 hours. And wow was the wait and anxiety worth it. Absolutely loved this ride, even bought myself a Black Widow t shirt afterwards.
At Kennywood... Best ride in the park hands down & possibly Best flat ride ever made & Best flat ride in any park!

This ride is crazy!! More intense than phantom!! Love it!!
Just imagine a swing ride of this size going upside . . . then pausing you a few seconds . . . no thrill ride in the world could NEVER compare.

I would definitely ride this if the opportunity came along! They need to put one of these at six Flags Fiesta Texas close to where I live! And it should spin a little more also.
Yeah I think Fiesta Texas and Great Adventure would be good parks for six flags to add these too, especially considering how many they have added. Wonder what they'd be themed too, fiesta texas can't do another wonder woman and great adventure can't do Harley Quinn.

@@nickdapeeps Neither of those are the reason why it had been shut down for a long while. It needed maintenance and they couldn't find the parts they needed for it. It finally started functioning yesterday later in the day. No one was allowed on I think, but they test ran it A TON. In the time I was in line for The Turtle, they ran it about 6 times. I won't go on it, considering I'm barely working up the courage to go on Thunderbolt, but I'm happy for the people who like it.
I wish more of these frisbee rides did the full 360 degrees.
Being held upside down in one of these is insane.

scariest part is sitting in the chair waiting for the ride to start after standing in line so long and feeling like it goes impossibility high. once you get going though its not that bad

I went on this and it was literally the most terrifying thing i’d ever done. I will admit i was like ten but it was so fucking scary
I used to be absolutely shit scared of any roller coaster or intense ride in the world but I went on this and I really enjoyed it. I like all kinds of roller coasters now but even when i didn’t this was still a lot of fun.
Watching these videos makes me wanna go to Kennywood now haha

This ride looks dangerous your feet is few inches from the ground
I don't know if they changed the ride programming (it doesn't look like it), but when I rode this, we figured out the best seats to get the most height were the ones closest to where CF filmed in the first shot (front-left offride, back-right boarding) SO MUCH FUN!!
The seat you sit in depend on the way you flip. The seats pointing towards the Phantom make you feel like your upside down a lot. But the seats towards the entrance you get wind in your face and face down every swing(which I prefer but I’m not scared of going upside down)

Yes! It's AMAZING!! Wow!! My son rode it with me and at the highest point was really quiet for a few seconds...he then said, WOW, I couldn't talk for a minute!! THIS IS GREAT!! haha!

Its pretty cool, once you start getting high it gets your adrenaline going and whenever you swing back and forth it puts a lot of air pressure on your entire body and feels so weird and amazing

Something about the sheer size and raw power of this ride freaks me the hell out. It's completely unnatural for something this large to swing like it does. The older I get the more creeper out I am.

i was 10 when i rode that ride and i wasn’t scared at first but then it started to go higher and higher and my heart felt like it came out my chest. don’t ride this if you aren’t brave. 😂

Here's a question: why is this ride slightly better/nuttier than Riddler Revenge at SFOT? They're both the same ride. Having been on both, it's not that Riddler is at all bad, but Black Widow is just flat out crazy.
Loved this ride.
We have a ride like this at my local park (Knoebels) called the Fandango. Except it's half as tall and doesn't go nearly as high as this. This ride is a big NOPE for me.

How is the reliability of this ride nowadays? Does it have a lot of downtime or is it in operation most of the time?
rcfreakeagle it has its problems since it’s the first in the US. It’s gotten better. One time me, my brother and grandma got on, it started moving but stopped before it got up high and we got off. Since I’m a season pass holder, I came back a week later and it was still closed. But it was two years ago and it breaks down I’d say once a day, which isn’t perfect.
Iono....how I feel about this. I would love/hate to see deflection / stress maps for this. It is clearly more fragile as it takes much longer to wind up. I'll keep my buns on a Giant Huss Frisbee. The thing looks like it was built to withstand the forces it wanted to create this ride has MULTIPLE points of failure....I'm just not willing to risk. And I get it...it's computer operated but still....it LOOKS like a ride that is definitely pushing the limits of material engineers.

Ye, but it’s a lot taller. And the forces are crazy when you land that paramedics come sometimes as people faint
I went on this a few days ago and as the ride was coming to a stop they made an announcement that the ride was gonna be down for maintenance. Last time I ever get on one of these.

What the heck it doesn't even complete a whole rotation all the way upside down there is one in Idaho at silverwood called spin cycle that takes you all the way and hangs you there then does more full rotations
Henry Open because it's a completely different ride. Spin cycle is also much smaller, and in general doesn't provide the same crazy hang time that zamperla discoveries and Huss frisbees are known for. This thing takes riders 150 feet in the air.
If it went all the way round, I'm sure the support columns wouldn't deal with the applied weight of the pendulum and it would collapse.
Gonso96 yeah, that downswing would produce some immense force. Also, you would need some ungodly powerful motor to get it up to speed.
