This is pure fkn GOLD! Thanks for posting..this is going into my daily rotation. Gaaahhhh, Stu absolutely rips and I can't wait to see him at Rupp in September ❤
Just when I think he can't get any better, he delivers the best version I've ever heard of On the Other Hand. Holy shit! How in the hell were people talking during that?!
I was there for this in my small town in London ky, there was probably 30 people there and it was so fucking good. I thought it would honestly be a little shit band the town hired for the show but these guys showed up and absolutely killed it.
I don't think he's ever been not on fire. My band opened for Sunday Valley several times in the early 2000s. I remember those old days at The Dame in Lex. He was on fire even back then.
Sturge!!! U and them boys have made me remember where I come from because I haven't listened to country radio since I had a 6 pack and chicken wings on the front seat my old chevy.... but on the other hand ..... I think somehow me a mr childers r related Haha but ya u can't smoke enough to make this shit up ha
I spent about an hour on Google searching the lyrics and can't find anything. I think it might be an original. Not sure why he never recorded it because it's amazing.
It’s an old Ralph Stanley song on the album poor rambler. Pretty sure Larry sparks wrote it, he was singing lead on it anyway. The song is called lonesome
Edit- I see #12 now 👍🏽 Doesn’t he say “this is an old Bill Monroe song”??? ….I remember being told the story of how my Grandaddy got a divorce over a watermelon & Monroe in which a knife fight ensued and Gdaddy stabbed him…he lived of course😁
EVERYTIME SOMEONE ASKS ME, HEY IF YOU GO BACK TO ANY TIME IN HISTORY WHAT WOULD IT BE? UHH, JUNE OF 2011 STU PLAYING FREE SHOW ON COURTHOUSE STEPS HAWKING $10 TSHIRTS WITH A FREE STICKER....
I wish I could go back in time a discover Sturgill a few years before I did. What a time to be alive. The G.O.A.T.!!!
Omg.. people walking in and out of the door behind them. 😂
Discovering Stu at 25 when I could’ve had my ears melted off at 14 years old here.. if only Sunday Valley could be brought back to life
Better 25 than 40
This is so amazing! He is the best. I can’t wait for him to get back on the road again!

Musical LEGEND, we thank you Sturgill.
Just stumbled across this today. Fantastic. I found the Sunday Valley stuff years after it ended but I love what they did.
Best Hey Joe cover, ever. People at this show were witnessing hisroy, didnt even know it. Epic.
Check out Roy Buchanan's Hey Joe version if you dig this one. He kills it, too.
Man.... He deserves to be the star that he's become...
Thanks for posting!
And yet still not as big as it should be… The lyrics + the voice + magical picking =.more talent than 99.99% of musicians out there.
The best damn voice. 😍and so good looking and sweet too.

Strugill at his best. Lexingtons best. Never heard anybody carry a band like he did at The Green Lantern. Keep rockin'
I think #10 is Red House by Hendrix, at least the melody is. Lyrics sound different.
