Loved your review of these great sounding whistles!!! I have three: the high D, low G and low F (all in aluminum). Michael Burke sure does make a great whistle!
Just got a MB brass session whistle to add to add to a pair of low whistles from Howards and have packed away all my carbon fiber whistles. I don't know any carbon fiber instruments that can provide such a great sound. This brass whistle is so easy to play clearly, avoiding squeaks and whispers from bad playing and spans both octaves at a moderate volume that is so simple to achieve. LOVE IT !
I bought one of these in 2005 and it's still my favourite! I have the aluminium high D. It is well tarnished now but otherwise in perfect condition. They will really last a lifetime if you take care of them.
I have a high D made in 2004. It has as you say, a very pure sound. Almost too much, as I prefer a more airy, haunted sound. Mine is two piece whistle and very well made. The only thing is the thin walls of the tube. Only 0,36 mm. I bought a pair of drum sticks that almost fitted inside. I cut them to size, and sanded them down so they go in snugly. Use one and one spare. No need to do surgery on the tube anymore. Well played as always, and enjoy the rest of the holydays.
The aluminum narrow bore was my first “investment “ whistle. Love my other whistles, but the first time I played my Burke, I could tell I was playing a fine instrument. Sound is wonderful.
Thank you very much for doing this review! I am a massive fan of Burke whistles. I am a proud owner of 8 different keys and I can definitely recommend them. I would love for you to do a review on a Goldie whistle/ verse Burke whistle review, just to see if the Goldie is any more responsive.
I'm not sure about high whistles, but there's not much between the low Burke viper and the Goldie to be honest. But...I loaned the Goldie and the Burke low whistles at first, and bought the Burke low instead of returning it... So I guess that shows which I preferred! 😁
I bought a high D from Colin in 2010 and I remember struggling to switch octaves. The instrument was a great piece of metal, but I never accustomed to blowing so much air in it to make it sound properly (obv. even more so in the higher octave). I sold it a few years later, after I got myself a Burke's high D (in brass). It was day and night compared to the Goldie one (but probably to many others too). Effortless to sound, a really pleasure to play. My only wish was that it came with a longer beak, as I'm so used to my good old and cheap Generation, but Mike kindly explained that wasn't an option: "I designed the curved windway because it gives the air sheet more length for the window width which gives a nice round sweet tone and it is less likely to clog, too. Making the beak longer also increases the noise on the air stream from rubbing against the walls, so the tone is less pure in linger beaks. If they are too short, the airflow is not laminar (molecules parallel) so distortion can occur when it is too short, as well. The beak length is a compromise that gives the best sound, therefore- not an accident."
I much prefer these. They're more responsive, don't clog and are easier to play in general. The MK whistles have a very unique sound which no other whistle can replicate, but i'd much prefer to play Burke whistles.
For me, looking from the UK, the price on the Burke website is $350 (around £282 with 10 days shipping) and the Big Whistle website is £314 (with 2 days shipping) By the time people in the UK have paid import fees, it's cheaper and faster to buy from BigWhistle.co.uk Obviously, if you're in the USA, it's cheaper and quicker to buy an American whistle from the US. 😁👍
Hi Steph - You always put whis in everybody's tin whistle. 😊 Have a Good Friday ✝ and Happy Easter. He has risen! 🙏
These really sound beautiful! Thank you! Have a beautiful weekend! 🤗❤

Great review, as always 😀
Love the first tune, the Welsh "Lisa Lan", the song is also very beautiful and apparently there is a video coming soon 🤩
Wow. Pure sound and a very lovely tune.
My dad gave me a could of these whistles that he had when I told him I wanted to get into playing whistles. They sound so great.
Whistles from another planet, extraordinary!

Classy whistles for sure....Happy East-Over !
These are some of the best whistles out there and their cost is really warranted but gosh damn you're gonna hafta break da bank
Thank you for mentioning the light weight of the whistle. Weight is something I take into account

Can’t wait to get one.
Fantastic review! Looking forward to buy aluminium Burkes myself soon :)
My whistles don't stay clean long. I love the Burke. It is my top high D whistle. I carry it with my most of the time.
they have a wonderful sound.
Incredibly beautiful music and very interesting video.
Thank you CutiePie

By far the best whistle I've ever used. I've played it for over 10 years and I still think it's beautiful and perfect.

Congratulations CutiePie. I have a question. Where I can get the whistle?
I want to buy
@@mariojoelbarriossanchez1999 I got mine from bigwhistle.co.uk/burke-whistles/
Thank you CutiePie
I'm going to check. Realy thank you and it was a placer
Now that you've played these and the MK Midgie, thoughts on comparisons?
I much prefer these. They're more responsive, don't clog and are easier to play in general. The MK whistles have a very unique sound which no other whistle can replicate, but i'd much prefer to play Burke whistles.
Burke has a standard bore and a session bore whistle. Can you do a review comparing the db levels of both?
Uhh, maybe...If I can afford another or can borrow one 😊
How much breath do they require?
😊 they're fairly middle ground in that respect. Not too much, not too little
I’m not sure if they sound good or if thats just what big whistle wants me to think 🤔
In honour of your wall, you should learn the Blockbusters theme.
🤣🤣🤣
