- Zhiyun Weebill S Tutorial Gimbal Tips And Tricks. This follow up video of my Zhiyun weebill s tutorial video series. Here are my best gimbal tips and tricks for the weebill S. My weebill s setup and a look at my previous weebill S tutorials. This marks the end of my Zhiyun weebill s Turorial.
In this video, we take a look back at my Zhiyun gimbal tutorial of the weebill s gimbal. And what you can learn about the weebill s gimbal. This gimbal is excellent for anyone looking for a gimbal that is lightweight and portable. The weebill s is tiny but handles a heavy load. So no matter if you shoot mirrorless or DSLR, the Zhiyun weebill S will do the job.
I have used this weebill s gimbal on many different shoots, and it never fails. With the weebill s quick release plate, I can easily switch from zhiyun gimbal to handheld - a super-efficient feature.
If you want to customize your gimbal, I recommend the Gimbal gear handle dual handle control and better gimbal stability.
I will also recommend using an external monitor. When shooting on the weebill S. Smallrig has made a dedicated nato rail and gimbal field monitor mount that's easy to attach on the weebill s.
This weebill s tutorial is for you, and if you got any questions about the Zhiyun weebill S setup, please let me know. I have a whole series of zhiyun gimbal videos. Go back and watch my series or click the link here:

A very informative, and helpful video, can't thank you enough. The small rig setup is perfect, and I'm going to order it immediately using your video as a reason for the purchase. I have the Gimbal Grip because of your other video. By the way, while watching the video of your setup I realized how distraction free the dark background is, it causes one to focus on the setup. Thanks again.
Thanks. The gimbal grip is one of my favorite accessories for the gimbal. It adds much more control. You will be delighted with the small rig monitor mount. It is excellent. Thanks for telling me about the background, I have tried different sets, and this one is my favorite. It is super simple, and there are no distractions. I am going to do a similar setup at my new office. Happy new year!
I love that quick release and the extra grip! I might have to invest in those eventually, glad to know the option is there! I just got this gimbal and can’t wait to start testing it out.
Yes, the quickrelease system is great. go out and get some great shots.
Thank you for the useful tutorial! I was wondering, would you recommend a monopod to use with it? If so, which one?
Thank you so much for this content. I’m new to this and am loving it so far.
Excellent Weebill tutorials, the best I've watched. Thank you. Subscribed
Great video Pete. Love the weebill s. happy new year!
Thanks and the same to you
Great tips Peter, what quick release camera plate (mount) are you using? Cheers
Great tutorial of you setup. love the Swiss alps.
The Fresh Mind Family thanks. Yes and I will be back there in a couple of weeks.
Muy buen video, es el más completo que he podido encontrar, mil gracias! Seria bueno algún día grabar juntos
I love your Weebil S tutorials! What Quick Release plate do you use??
Always great content. Have a great New Year.
Thanks, happy new year mate.
Hi. You have used hdmi cable for attaching monitor, little curious to know about how it will affect vortex mode rotation with the cable connection to the camera?
ayyye cool video thanks for the help man keep it up 👍🏽
Thanks, will do!
Thanks Peter well done.
I purchased the Small Rig monitor support and holder on Amazon thru your links.
Question: I use the selfie mode with my Weebill S - so when my camera does a 180 swing - won't that yank out the HDMI cable? or at least add strain to the system hence affecting balance? I don't want a massive cable length. I'm a little concerned since I believe the Small Rig cheese plate only mounts on the left hand side so therefore I cannot move my external monitor to the other side......
Any recommendations?
I have the Gimbal Gear grip so maybe I can move the cheese plate there and then my external monitor?
Mark.
Thanks mate. I use the Nano second cables they are thin and won't effect the gimbal. amzn.to/31mMduQ
very good video
I want to invest in a gimbal
between weebil s / crane plus
What do you recommend?
Thnks
Need more info on the quick release plate for the camera. I don't want to have to go the process of having rebalance my camera everytime I take it off.
Did you ever figure out which plate to use?

What I cannot find on RUclips is a good showcase of the smart follow in action, can you please do a video for that on the weebill s ?
Yesss^ same
I just love ur content mate, subscribed !!
Just for weebill S
great to have you here mate.
Gr8 tutorial! Do you use the cable to control the GH5 from Weebill? I mean, does the fact that you added a wired monitor limit the other conector to the weebill that controls the camera ( IOS, shutter , etc)?
Luis Alvarez yes. When connecting the monitor with wire it is through the HDMI port. To connect the camera to the weebill for controls use the usb-c to usb micro and you can adjust all settings from the weebill s.
Awesome content and great quality videos. I purchased my original Wee in lab from your videos. Great tip in the monitor holder would love to know more about your studio setup and editing for your videos. Great job!!
Terrence Bibb thanks mate. I am currently working on a series of videos about how to make a video studio. If you have any specific topics you want me to cover. Please let me know.
Nice set up
Question: what is the mode you put the gimbal in to make parallax moves? Actually 2 questions....every time I do an autotune of the motor it goes into L and I have to go to the side slider and slide it into L and then back into PF, any ideas as to why?
Peter, thanks for the great video! I have a question about the basic function of gimbal. After firmware 1.92, problems appeared with unpredictable trembling of gimbal. Do you have these problems too? Is your setting for gimbal the same? Is this setting suitable for a 1200 g camera + lens combination?
thank you
Hi, thanks. No of same reason haven't i upgraded my gimbal, because it works flawless right now. My setup gh5 with 10-25mm is about 1500g. it handles it very well.
Thank you!
I love this video.. this is almost perfect setup for the gimbal, but i think you should use the lens holder or the gimbal will start vibrating/buzzing on certain tilt angle
I love your videos. they are really high production value videos. awesome music in your videos. you have 3.82k subscribers when I am subscribing but I think you will have more than a million subs in no time with your quality videos. thanks for an awesome video.

Dope content ,thank you..In what situations would you use the top handle grip vs gimble
I use the top handle for low shots.
Great video, what was the quick release place you're using (instead of the rise)? Thanks
Thanks, You can use any quick release plate, but the one I use is this one. amzn.to/39s3x3a
Do you have a link for the quick release for takeoff camera quickly I like that set up quick and not bulky for quick handheld shots … I can’t see that in description.?!
Very nice brother
What is that quick release plate to replace the stock one? I did not see it on your links. Thanks.
nice video ! but i prefer the smartphone with wireless so the top is separated from the bottom for vortex mode. No problems so far! I always take my cabled setup as backup with me. Keep doing what you do. If there is a workshop in the netherlands let me know. I'm from Rotterdam.
What brand/part is the quick release plate on the camera?
Peter, Thanks for sharing your setup. I did notice that you only have one cable attached to the camera which is for the monitor, are you not using the cable from the gimbal into the camera? Are you just manually starting and stopping the recording by touching the camera and not using the controls on the gimbal?
ok, at 1:23 I see the cable, my apologies as in the later parts of the video I can only see the one cable that is for your monitor.
Hi, It is correct seen. I never use the controls on the weebill S. I find it much faster to adjust it directly on the camera. I prefer a simple gimbal set up to be able to switch to handheld or pack down easily.
I had the cable attach to the gimbal during parts of this video, but it was only because I had to test some settings.
brother, i cant see any link for the quick release adapter for the camera
Thanks for the Smallrig tip! I just received my Weebill-S. Wondering if I didn't get a deffective unit. When I'm on either PF or L mode none of the axis will lock. On PF, the tilt & roll should lock and on L, all should lock. Or am I mistaken?
Hopefully, your gimbal isn't defective. When in PF mode. The camera will be facing straight in the direction you point the gimbal. All the axis will be working but keeping the camera steady facing forward.
When in L mode, you will locke the position the camera is facing. but the other axis will still be working, but if you turn the gimbal, the camera will not turn. ( locking the pan axis)
You might get good use of watching this vidoe here.

@@PeterMakholm Hello Peter, I've made a video clip of my problem. Anyway you could have a look at it. I have it on Dropbox ?
Christian Fritschi yeah. Send my the link on messenger.
Does the receiver comes with the transmitter itself, if I'm buying the device separately not the gimbal?
No the wireless receiver is sold separately and will not be included wit the transmitter.
Aloha Peter, Thanks so much for sharing so much great info!! Two things... I would like to see the link for the quick release plate for the camera that you talked about. Second, Iam shooting with a Sony A7lll and the Small HD Focus. While shooting in 1080 60 frames i get all of my camera settings displayed at the bottom of the screen along with the record signal when I'm rolling. As soon as I switch over to 4K 50 frames or 25 frames, I lose all the camera info along with the record icon. Is this a camera thing or a monitor thing or an operator thing?? I really need to be able to see this info. Looking forward to your reply. Thanks again. I love your channel!
Okay, never mind about the link for the camera quick release plate. I see in in your other comments below, but do you get all the camera info on your screen at the bottom of the monitor when shooting with the GH5? Thanks and happy new year!!
Could you please explain more about the quick release plate ???
Tak for tips. Har lige købt denne til vores produktioner.
VintageandRare Fedt af høre. Det er en super gimbal.
What is the quick release plate you use on your camera?
What is the link for the camera quick release system you use? Thanks.
You should have more subscribers, absolutely great content.
Could you please let me know what kind of fluid head do I need to buy to be compatible with the zhiyun weebill s plate?
Thanks.
The problem with the zhiyun weebill s baseplate is that, it is blocked in the fornt. I would ad a quick release plate on the baseplate and to you tripod. then you cna easily switch between gear. This is the quick release i use. amzn.to/2Dr1iBJ
I can recomend this fluid head. amzn.to/3grNw0i.
The tripod and fluid head I use is pretty expenisve, but it is a good investment. Sachtler fsb 4 system. amzn.to/31cmd3A
@@PeterMakholm you are awesome. Thanks a lot.
Hi Peter
i have still the Problem that if i use the Joystick for the tilt-movement,
the movement is not smooth stopping when i move the Joystick back to the center it stops immediately. The Fosicam was way better. I have a a7r3 with 35mm 1.8
The Joystick seems not to be so sensitive for smaller Joystick movements it should more ease out or slow down slowly... It seems that the Joystick is too direct in the stick movement.
How can i change that in smoother stops ? i have the latest firmware 1.9.5. The only way to achieve this was threw the app an the sync motion Funktion where i can set the smoothness level to Maximum but only if i use the mobile and i dont want that...
also its seen like you got a cable from your smallHD extension to another cable right ? whats that cable please. thnak s G.Lam
Yes that is correct. The cable you ned is a full hdmi to full hdmi. here is the link from amazon. amzn.to/2MG9n7o

Hi,
I noticed in other videos that You are using monitor but not recorder.
Are You recording everything internaly in GH5?
Are You using V-Log?
Filip Nikitovic yes that is correct. I record everything internally in the gh5. 4k 8bit 24p or 60p. CineD

Or even make a video in the future...

The Quick Release plate for camera mount, does it comes with the gimbal itself?
Aditya Basu there is a quick release plate built in to the weebill s but I use on I added my self instead of the extra hight plate. Link is here. amzn.to/39s3x3a
@@PeterMakholm This is great. How do You fix this to weebill S ??
Filip Nikitovic it is pretty simple. Just screw it to the baseplate and you can easily pop the camera on and off.
Which quick release did you use for the camera? thanks and greetings from Holland!
Hi Mike, you can use any quick release plate, but the one i use is this one. amzn.to/2Qa8HcA

I'm planning to buy via amazon (I usually have a camera store that I go to physically but due to Covid it's tough now) I've never bought gadgets on amazon...do you think It'll be fine? any thoughts?
I normally shop at B&H, but they have fallen a bit recently. I recently bought an exotic item on Amazon, and returned it immediately, since it did not work out. The return process was fast and smooth. I got my money back as soon as the item was received by them.
did Zhiyun disable video transmission to phone without transmission module ??
can you add link to the quick release plate for camera?
Do you still consider the Webil S a good choice for a caged iPhone 13 Pro Max and a Nikon Z7II?
I haven’t tryed the nikon z7ii but I would not recomemd the weebill s as a mobil gimbal.
@@PeterMakholm Yeeeeeah, I suppose there’s no Goldilocks choice between a Crane M3 and a Webill S. Thanks.
Peter... a few questions: 1- Did you figure out how to make the transmitter work "consistently"? 2- Does the system works better with the monitor than with the transmitter? I'm just sooo over trying to make it work that I'm about to return the transmitter. The only thing I get from Zhiyun is "sorry it didn't work out for you" I'm just trying to find a system that will follow me as I film myself. 3- Will you make your workshop available here? Thanks for the video.
I have played around with the transmitter a bit, and it is not consistent. It sometimes loses connection, and if I move quickly when tracking, it loses me. I will prefer to use a monitor on my gimbal instead. The wireless transmitter and reviser is not ideal, the image is lacking and to slow. Following our selves is the biggest hurdle we all struggle with. I wish I had a clone of my self to film. Some of the videos from the workshop will be available here.
@@PeterMakholm sorry to bug you so much but you are the only one that has been consistent with the reviews of this gimbal (nice temp niche!) so... if I get the monitor and use the gimbal app, will I be able to use with more consistent tracking of myself? Instead of using my phone of course.
@@HerSoulVacation Always a pleasure with these questions, because it also gives me video ideas that I can produce. The simple answer for that is NO. You can only use the tracking mode on the phone. If you use an external monitor on the weebill s or any other gimbal, you will only be able to see the image, none of the app functions will be available. So if you want the object tracking, the only option is the wireless transmitter and your phone.
In this video, we are talking gimbal tips, looking at my gimbal setup, and my upcoming gimbal workshop. Happy New year!!!

can the weebil s handle the panasonic s1h ?
David Benini it is not on compatibility list. But I have had it on there and whate able to use it on the gimbal even though it could not balance it correctly. I would not say it is great, but it can be done. I use my Crane 3 lab for the S1H
@@PeterMakholm it is actually included in the list of compatible devices where the optional attachment is needed! oss.zhiyun-tech.com/zyplay/instructions_edit/supportmodel/WEEBILL-S-Camera-Compatibility-List.pdf on the net there is no other information, I have seen only one video on yt where it is used but it is in Thai! I've been watching your videos on RUclips and I saw a really cool effect, I wanted to know if you could help me do the same effect in Adobe Premiere, or refer me to a video that explains the effect.
The effect starts at 0:36 seconds up to 0:40 seconds.

Is it okay to mount a 7 inch monitor?
Giov Carrillo I would prefer a 5inch monitor, but a 7inch is durable as well.
@@PeterMakholm Thanks for the quick reply :) I was wondering if it is viable to use an extension pole/monopod to do jib like shots? I'm worried if the plastic build would support it.
Giov Carrillo yes. You can definitely use a extension pole or a monopod. I use carbon fiber extension poles, I show them in this video. ruclips.net/video/picV5ylZm98/видео.html
Why isnt anyone talking about the problems alot of people are having with the gimbal. Are you in the Zhiyun fb group.. Some people returning their gimbals
Hi, I am in the weebill S group. This gimbal is defiantly not perfect, but for the most part, it works fine. I always prefer my trusty glidecam, but for a small strong gimbal, the weebill S is excellent. There are shots that I can't pull off on the glidecam, where the gimbal comes in handy.
