  • A short guidance of installation, cutting and finishing solid laminate worktops. Zenith worktops are good, durable and relatively easy to install. As with any other worktop, best results are achieved by using professional tools and sharp blades, ensuring good workmanship standards.

    Hi, Sinisa, Just an update , i did my kitchen myself and got great results, your video really helped. I used the freud saw blade you reccomended with a simple macallister circular saw from b&q - i took it easy and it all turned out great. The company i bought the worktops from sent an extra worktop instead of an upstand ,so i used my off cuts to manufacture a splashback over the sink , base cupoard ends and skirting and a 4" strip on top of a dividing wall betwen kitchen and dining area- looks great- and still seems to be plenty of life in the blade - your advice about just going easy and using that particular blade blade was spot on and a great help to me , Thanks again for a great video.

    What did you use to clean the adhesive from the top surface of worktop? video helpful alway makes for more questions, you didn't use jointing clamps, are they needed? been supplied with some. thanks

    • @mrfxr1695
      @mrfxr1695  Год назад

      Thanks for asking
      It is very thin solid laminate worktop by Zenith (about 12mm thin), standard worktop undermounting jointing clamps can't be used
      I've used applied epoxy two part adhesive that I cleaned with acetone while fresh. I didn't use clamps because it would involve using hot glue gun on surface and obviously additional cleaning, so I opted for clamping/wedging against surrounding walls
      I hope it helps

    • @mrfxr1695
      @mrfxr1695  Год назад

      It doesn't chip easily, but it's very dense and you have to cut it slowly. I've done cuts with face up and it is fine

    Did you router the long edge when doing the butt joint? Butt joint is recommended by manufacturer of my worktops (Sheridans) but they say take off 0.5mm from long edge, but don't want to do this if not necessary

    I've fitted about 5-6 kitchens with Zenith over the last year. They seem to be gaining more attraction. They certainly go through cutters fast, and the second fit I did, the designers failed to realise a hob over a built in oven is different because you lose that precious 40mm depth of regular worktops. I have yet to fit Zenith in a kitchen that may have a wall intrusion into the worktop, and a sink run (cut out) that demands the worktop joints need to run a certain way. Because of the nature of a biscuit joint, you have almost zero leeway. Even if there are upstands that might give you a little, I can't think of a way to do it without another join. Have you come across this issue?

    • @mrfxr1695
      @mrfxr1695  5 лет назад +1

      Hi, yes for sure it is very tuff material. I overcome hob problem by fitting square profile cornice on top of the carcasses flush with the doors. You can join these worktops at any angle. I would cut one side at desired line than offer it on top of the order length and scribe over. Then you can trim it by router to the scribe.
      By the way, thanks for your comment and all the best

      @mrfxr1695  4 года назад +1

      Hi Terry, thank you. I have done some small cuts with a hand saw, they are OK. But keep in mind that is very dense material and it will blunt the saw fairly quickly.
