I've done probably a hundred Mac battery replacements in our shop and the easiest method is to use a a narrow metal paint scraper and heat it up with the heat gun until the blade is very hot and then gently slide it under the battery cells. It melts the adhesive like butter. Takes about five minutes to remove the battery pack. I always wear a face shield and rubber gloves as well. Always a good idea to prep it by spraying isopropyl alcohol around the edges and let it run underneath the battery to help loosen the adhesive.

This is a good way if you have experience and know what you are doing, otherwise, without experience, you can damage the battery and this can lead to a fire because the narrow metal paint scraper has sharp corners. Of course, if you have done this hundreds of times, you have experience replacing in this way.

I use a metal spatula with WD-40 sprayed on it. A little heat on the wrist helps it go even faster.

🥴This sounds like a terrible UNSAFE method! 🤫
If you have half a brain completely disregard this fools suggestion!

Yes finally somone who uses heat instead of acetone or alcohol to remove the battery. I bought a heat gun for my repairs but nobody was using them, until I found you.

Danger alert: Just did this and the battery didn't come away easily. I had to scrape at the attached portion and in a couple of places I scraped through the surface and the battery smoked and heated up. Pretty scary and I'm lucky the battery was mostly discharged. I got out a fire extinguisher just in case, and luckily it cooled off after a while and I took it to a hazardous waste place, but I think a warning is in order.

What are your thoughts on the floss method I've seen done? As opposed to using the hairdryer.
I assume you've tried both with your experience, so I was curious.

Using a plastic spudger to unhook battery +5, using heat instead of solvent -10, using a metal pry tool to pry battery -50. Good way to start a fire there….. anyone watching this use solvent (50% acetone/50% 90+% IPA) and a card tool to remove the battery. Unscrew the speakers and apply a small amount of the solvent under the edge of the battery, Go from outside edge inward toward the trackpad, one side at a time takes 3 minutes and you don’t risk chemical burns and as I said a fire from puncturing the battery.
