My brother told me that his dermatologist recommended ponds dry skin cream cuz it does help when your skin gets really dry, like super dry. From what I've noticed it does really help my skin just in general, but also it does make foundation/concelar apply easier and makes it look better on my skin lol
That’s how my grandmother and mother used to/ does apply their blush actually my grandmother would also apply it to the temples of her forehead, a little bit on her chin, and little bit on the bridge of her nose. She sometimes would use more than one color. and that’s how I apply my blush to this day I put a little bit on my cheeks and on the brow bone and on my temples and sometimes they put a little bit on my nose too. but wow OK yeah I didn’t knows 1940s make up technique is really cool to know
This look is gorgeous! I definitely want to try it out. Also great for someone who’s garbage at liquid eyeliner (me!). I love this video concept so much so I was thrilled to see another one! Would be cool to see a 90s one if they’re out there or even an early 00s just so we can revisit the cringe makeup methods of our youth
The outcome is so pretty. That's pretty similar to how my grandma taught me to do my foundation when I was young. I still use a lightly damp sponge to settle my powder foundation when I use it.
This look looks great on you! My grandma to this day still applies her eye shadow with her finger. She said the new wands and tools take away the finger paint feel she likes haha!
I love your historic tutorials! Could you do one about Max Factor and his artistry, as he is the OG of modern make up? Especially as his make up line is still in the production today and some of the original products like Pan Stick and Creme Puff (which I love and use, are available in EU.
I was looking on your channel for a 40s makeup exactly like this the other day before going to a vintage sale! I have the same issue where I like my makeup heaviest on the eyes, so I don't feel like I look good/like myself with most 40s makeup. Will definitely be doing this next time I leave the house :)
A) My bare minimum makeup for when I don't have a lot of time is tinted moisturizer, mascara, blush, and lip gloss. So I think I could have gotten away with it in the '40s. :) And B) I love love love your hair style in this! One of my go to hair stiles is a low side but but the braid in the front just adds that much more visual interest! And you have bangs like mine so it would be awesome if you could do a tutorial on this and how to incorporate bangs into braids! :)
When it comes to eyeshadow we brown eyed girls have the best eye colour possible, because any colour will look good. I only started using lighter colours when i turned 50 and decided to let my hair go grey ( it was dark red) and now the browns or any darker colours do not look so good, they make me look older and my face heavier ,so I started wearing pink pallets with a slight amount of a darker brown , because it's what suits my skin colour best and makes my face look younger and lighter.
Great look on you! But you sound like vanishing cream is something very rare nowadays. I think it's the most normal thing, I always use that (not only as foundation)! 😄 I did use couloured foundation and tinted cream when I was 14-15, but I always felt like my skin can't breathe and it made me feel uncomfortable, even though I used natural cosmetics. Didn't need it either, my skin is already pretty clear. That way of applying eyeshadow is also very close as I do it. I massage my eyelids with vanishing cream before I put on eyeshadow (mixed with even more cream) on my eyelids with my fingers and blend the edges. I don't understand how people can do that without cream and/or with those applicators. It always looks patchy when i do that. 😆
Well I know a lady is my town who makes it from charcoal and beeswax. She’s an older lady I’d say mid 80’s. She also makes rouge from dried beetroot and rose petals. I make all my historical makeup from her recipes and they’re very pigmented
I HATE! ......when ur videos end! Lol😋 I LOVE UR LONGER VIDEOS!❤ I just like long vids in general...especially with people i like...and im impatient for the next one lol. Your my fave YTer, so u should DEF consider making ALL ur vids 20 mins or more...when possible lol.😉 ANYWHO! YOU LOOK FABULOUS!😍 I def prefer more SIMPLE and very easy 20 mins or less makeup looks. Im not all about a full face of glam, unnatural makeup. I LOVE a more natural looks. And this is that...but just a bit more. YOU WOULD HAVE BEEN A KNOCKOUT IN THE 40S GIRL!!!😉😍 I LOVE READING AND WATCHING HOW WOMEN DID THEIR MAKEUP AND HAIR THROUGH HISTORY!(and how they dressed the mostest!) (ps...i ADORE ur eyebrows😍...my eyebrows are stuck in the earlier 2000s when thin brows was popular...they never really grew back...well...a bit...but not much...ive always had tiny straight brows, but still...😞)
The thing is that my lashes are so naturally curved that I can't achieve to put eyeliner easily. Anyone else has this problem, and found a solution maybe?
Whenever I hear vanishing cream I think about that episode of Tom & Jerry when Jerry covers himself in vanishing cream and disappears :))))
Same thing, Tom and Jerry was me and my brother’s childhood, the cartoons were from the 40s, 50s, and the 60s.
Same
Me too! I'm a huge Tom & Jerry fan, and I know they used vanishing cream gags in at least 2 episodes :)
I want that cream.
So do I, haha!
Her applying brown eyeshadow: it's maybe a bit too dark for everyday makeup
Me wearing dark eyeshadow and dramatic eyeliner on a daily basis: oh.
I think she meant by 40s beauty standards! ;D
That thumbnail did not make me think ‘Ah a makeup tutorial’ LOL
I thought”kinky”
The ponds dry skin is a vanishing cream they just changed the name to “dry skin cream.” But it was supposed to be used under makeup. :)
My grandmother still uses it (:
I use it everyday as my moisturizer. It's awesome.
that is good to know, Ponds is supposedly the best moisturizer from the drugstore... i've been using there Rejuveness: anti wrinkle cream

Oh dear , the tissue for the lips image has a strange threatening aura.
This look is so nice, it’s not too heavy and just so elegant!
Uru It looks like a kidnapping photo! with someone with tape over their mouth
Definitely a "does this smell like chloroform" vibe.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought the blotting picture looked like a creepy abduction 😆
I love how the beautyblender tend of setting your face by patting the damp sponge literally just circled around from using a wet sponge decades before
“In real life it looks like and allergic reaction but on camera it does look kind of nice” 😂
Are you planning on buying any vintage-inspired makeup like Besamé for these tutorials? They have cake mascara and rouge! I LOVE their lipsticks 💄

This is a very flattering look on you!

You're a very talented and lovely human! Glad I found your channel! 💕
“starting with a futile attempt at brushing my hairs up” 😄 idk why that made me laugh.
Oh the way to apply rouge looks very pretty 😍
I am trying that the next time i do my make up !
I feel like Vintage, especially 40s, looks so good on u☺️ ur really pull it off!
Looks great!! You could totally wear it for every day!
Your lips do look like “I Love Lucy” television show with Lucille Ball. You wear all the styles well.
Pancake (Max Factor) was my first foundation makeup! I loved it.
Kryolan still makes cake mascara and is available in the netherlands as well
I love your historic tutorials!

I love the 40s lip shape on you! It honestly looks wonderful on you x
I ❤️ this look. So pretty!
Besame cosmetics has cake mascara in brown, black, and now purple. I use to have a Max Factor cake in green.
I'm reading a book all about Ava Gardner right now so this video was perfect timing haha! I loved it!!
Is it a bio? What's it called? I wanna give it a read. I just finished one about Mary Pickford. So good.
you are so naturally beautiful! your features all just compliment each other so well:)

It is a good look! I'm not a big fan of red lips on myself, but I guess people get used to it with time ^^
wat ben ik blij om je kanaal te hebben ontdekt! Geweldig :)
This is a very pretty look.
Great tutorial ! Would you consider doing a Katherine Hepburn beauty beacon video ? I love her hairstyles !
Pretty contemporary look. I loved it!💕
So beautiful!! That really looks lovely on you! Nicely done!
I love these video type
This is such a classy look
You're literally sooo pretty naturally 😍😍 This make up look does really look on you though ^^
This looks quite nice!
The eyeshadow grand was kinda stupid cause I got grey eyes but they look way better with warm colors on than cold ones
Ohhh gosh to match shadow color to eye color ... I'd need a yellowish green eyeshadow 😂😂😂

Gosh I just love you. Your videos are always soooooo unique, love seeing you so playful and your stunning honey. 😁🤗👄
It's so funny that this way of using the blush is coming back, I saw it already on many girls :D
Hey Lucy
I've gotten very lucky with skin that looks good and is easy to take care of. Never had any problems :)
@@Loepsie Wow you are so lucky then. Thanks for your answer, have a nice day/night

Beautiful!
Check out Besame cosmetics for that type mascara 😊
Douglas has some cake mascara, you an also use it for your brows
You can still get cake mascara, Longcil Boncsa I think the brand is.
Beautiful
If you use the same color of eyeshadow as your eyes, what color do those with hazel eyes use?
An olive based brown, better if it has some golden specs.
You really look a lot like an ingenue Isabella Rossellini with this look. 🥰
Besame sells the tin mascara
So classy! I love it!😊
Why did I open my mouth when you were applying lipstick
I have a question to every lovely lady here. Except for Besamé Cake Mascara and Tana Cosmetics Mascara Stone, what cake mascaras do you know of?

It was the OG setting spray
nice
Vanishing cream is just moisturiser.
This is the only 1940s makeup tutorial I have seen where they use eyeliner
My mum said that in the 60s they used to spit into their mascara cakes because it was quicker!

I don’t think they actually put mascara on the bottom eyelashes. I think that was more 1930s. Great video.
You look like Isabella Rossellini!
I have pictures of my grandma as a young woman and her eyebrows were very thin
💖
I thought the lip blotting picture looked creepy, too! lol
💜💜💜

Tightlining from bellow instead
💃👑💅
40's lip shape is a dark memory ee shouldn't talk about.
Yes! Like 80s eyeshadow.
@@Discordia5 and 90's super skinny eyebrows.
It looks good on some face shapes it depends you can do variations too I do it since my lips aren’t very shapely definitely don’t go overboard 😅

Very cute yet you were supercute b4 you did your makeup.
You’re so pwittyyyy🥺

this thumbnail got me MAD confused
Why the fuck did I read this as Halloween make up the whole time I’m like ??? Where’s the scary bit
this is my everyday make up ... so it's a 40s makeup look
Very natural and cute, yet finished. I hate it when women look like they smacked themselves with a paint palette.
Charles Brobst e girl style
You forget the foundation. Reread section 1 of directions.
Haha cute
