Anyone else notice that Jess was wearing almost the exact same outfit as the lady in the video but it’s just pink rather than blue?
Kelly Hall I bet it's intentional.
Kelly Hall I thought I was the only one who noticed that lol! She really got the whole look down
She probably did it so she matched the 50s style. Since shes doing a 50s makeup why not wear 50s clothes😉😂
Kelly Hall oh wow haha that's funny.
Kelly Hall lol I thought I was the only one who thought that lol
"No matter how thickly you put it on, you can't hide a badly cleansed broken-out skin, and a thick foundation emphasizes wrinkles." 1950s TELLS IT LIKE IT IS
cocealers got offended 🤣🤣
I felt so attacked 😂
Until not so long ago it wasn't considered"bullying" to point out flaws it was just a factual statement just like pointing out good things. People these days are completely retarded, weak, into themselves and honestly pathetic.
And it tells it in a frank way that's not insulting or accusatory which is nice.
Sugar Plum usually people who think bullying doesn't exist are people who aren't really aware of what bullying actually is and will attach the term to it to anything or have had other people do it. It's the same thing with feminism.
The 50s video insults everyone who puts on to much makeup😭😭
and too little! there's no such thing as winning for women
Because then you'll look like a clown!
There’s something called having different styles, wanna look painted? Slap it on, wanna look like you’re wearing none at all? Use it like it’s your last ever bit of makeup. Things have changed like for instance, style has changed women wear pants. I can use the same water fountain as my friends. 😂 And now people are more positive on how they look and there’s not as much pressure. People want you to see different parts of makeup. Like the big lip trend. You wanna be like “WOAH DUDE THEIR LIPS ARE HALF OF THEIR FACE” so for y’all and your tumblr profile pictures, know that times have changed. So if anyone gives you hell on how you paint your face, let them know it’s the 21st century and you can look like pennywise if you want to.
thekingofmoney2000 Shut up
I wouldn’t stand a chance
"I love how I'm just ignoring the instructions, this is why I'm a college drop out" LOL, I love how you just roasted yourself 😂
honestly this is probably the best "i follow a __ makeup tutorial video" i've ever seen !! ♡♡♡
Trisha Pimentel ya she did such a great job!! Bravo!!!
is it just me or did the model change as the makeup goes one??
Anna the models change
Anna The power of facial painting
The models change
At first it looked like a 55year old... at the end a 25year old
Every face part has a different model
I love this! Imagine if we all started doing our make up like this again! So much natural beauty !!😍
Very beautiful indeed.
I’m in. That’s 2… 🤣
“A little soaked 😏” lmfao I swear ur a 13 year old boy on the inside
Your end result is pretty much how I do my everyday makeup, and my aesthetic isn’t even vintage 😆
Olivia Martin haha I see it in your profile picture 😂
Same I don’t try to make it anything special it’s just simple compared to modern day makeup
HOW

Its funny how so many people complain how women wear so much makeup nowadays. How back in the day girls didn't wear so much. I knew a lady who was born in the 50's when I was a little girl. She wore a lot of makeup and would tell me how she had also slept with her hair all done and would wear girdles. So people saying women were more natural before they either don't talked to elders and/or need go learn a bit more about beauty history. Also, go beyond what they put on their face that was literally poison, shoes, women back in "those days" from head to toe wore dangerous and uncomfortable to look presentable to men/society. Just a reminder though, highlighting and contouring are neither new terms nor "invented" in 2000 to now....been used and perfected so many decades ago. It may seem more now but only because we have access to more and more people sharing on social media.
Bee Deal Exactly! And one of the main reasons why people think they wore less makeup is because 1. the makeup they used appeared more natural 2. it was less acceptable to wear makeup back then if you weren't married.
Bee Deal she would have been in her 20s by the 1970s, and we all know how trends change so fast, so she wasn't lying about putting alot of makeup on since during the peak age that she started wearing makeup was in the late 60s probably. But each decade went through it's own trend.
Vicky exactly!! My mom was born in 56 and she wore lots of makeup and platforms and bell bottoms and halter tops. Mini skirts that almost showed the panties and finally her school started letting them wear jeans. She graduated in 74. She also had the Farrah Facet hair too lol oh and huge glasses hahaha
Well yeah...she was born in the 50s. Key word is born. She was a young woman in the 70s and 80s....when lots colorful makeup, especially eyeshadow and blush was the trend. She has nothing to do with the 50s and 50s style. Like how I was born in the 80s...I don't have 80s style because I'm a young woman now, in the 2010s.
@@andromedastar4900 Actually, since OP mentioned how the woman wore girdles (which lost their popularity during the 70s because of the feminist/Civil Rights movement) it's possible she was born in the late 40s or early 50s, early enough to grow up wearing girdles, since a lot of teen girls were pressured to wear training girdles during that time.
Your skin is absolutely perfect! ♥️
"Use the shape of your natural eyebrows"
Me: has no eyebrows (they never grew, don't ask me why, I have no idea...)
So what would I do? Blend the eyeshadow to my hairline and yell "pink flamingos" to everybody who gives me a stare...
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
btw: you look stunning at the beginning of this and at the end. I couldn't choose which look I like more.
Catulus Infernum
Pink flamingos 😂😂 I love that
Is pink flamingo a pilof reference?
You might want to look up at some asian/Japan or Korea beauty looks, they usually have rare or shaved eyebrows, and they also trying to achieve more natural look :)
PINK FLAMINGO!!
You definitely look like you can be from the 50s. I love this makeup, especially if that’s your style!
I'm loving how the models in the 1951 video are all HEAVILY highlighted and contoured for filming, but they're still supposedly wearing 4 products blended into oblivion.
lmao true
Omg I so noticed lol
The mascara one was kinda surprising, had no clue they used water. Do you think you can do an Anastasia inspired video or 80s vintage
Jai_xox i think she is filming a real life anastasia at the moment! she posts a lot of updates on her instagram :)
You look like a living Disney princess ✨💖✨ So pretty with a bright personality. I really enjoyed this video. It's awesome seeing how make-up and fashion was like historically. 😊
She does. She's so elegant.
"Do you notice the lips themselves? Or do you say "There is a lovely woman?"" Had me dying!!!!!! 😭😭
I love these vintage looks. It just amazes me how these women can look so elegant with just a touch of makeup, while women today try to look elegant but cake on their makeup. Your video is amazing!
"This is why I'm a college dropout" LOL I LOVE that you can joke about yourself!
Hi, I just wanted to say that I really love your videos. You do a great job showing that not everything was sexist, or terrible then. I liked this makeup tutorial and spin on the current trend of recreating them. I don't know why, but I've always liked vintage things. It just feels more personal, currently I'm saving up for a record player. However, this comment isn't about me. The point of my rambling is to say that your videos are great!
The most surprising thing that I saw was the fact that right after they put powder on they WIPED their face with a wet sponge......basically taking it all off.
Steffanie Lang same thought... im like whutttt you could just skip that step 😂
The secret to wearing makeup is to make it look like you’re not wearing any and tbh Jessica you don’t need much you’re so pretty!
oh my god a 50s QUEEN!!!! i clicked as fast as i could lol. LOVE YOU!! ❤️❤️❤️
I teared up at the end. You looked like pictures of my grandmothers and aunts from the pictures of their youth. They are mostly all gone now but this reminded me of them.
Reminds me of the coloring in a vintage tinted photo like a graduation photo. So delicate and pretty
omg Victory Red is my favorite. Also, I've really taken to that mascara. I got it on a whim when Besame had a sale with it a few years ago and I didn't like it at first because of the learning curve with it. It does only take a little water. I use an actual mascara wand, the one that comes in that liner and mascara wand set, and I wet the brush and rub it into the cake to get it working. If the cake is still wet, i'll sometimes take the liner and get that going as well. You kind of have to let it dry a little before putting it on, or at least I do; whenever I put on any mascara that's too wet my lashes are so long they'll just deposit it right under the eyes.
The 50's make up was so simple, I like it! It gives off a very innocent cutesy vibe 😊
Tbh I prefer makeup and hair back in the 1900s, like 50s and onwards, and how the majority of women’s eyebrows were all different shapes etc in films and so on. It made them different if you know what I mean, instead of nowadays where females want that perfect eyebrow shape or their makeup being flawless like Instagram makeup, don’t get me wrong it’s just as nice, but I just think that women back in those days, with their makeup/hair and whatever was so much nicer and unique. 😊💕💕
This makeup style reminds me so much of my grandmother's old black and white pictures when she was in her late teenage years. Gorgeous
Your look came out looking absolutely gorgeous! My grandmother would be so proud!!
The vintage queen
Jojo Lofton no thats dita von teese
I really found interesting how at the end they wet sponge and just kind of wiped their whole face with it.
I like how subtle it is! Like the narrator in tje video said, it makes the natural features of the face pop, not the makeup itself.
You're absolutely stunning! You definitely have the features and natural beauty to pull off any look, however you look so pretty in this particular 'old tyme' type of style!
Your channel gives me life!
Great vid.....the last part of the makeup routine wiping off excess using a sponge. That's very new to me..
Pale skin + red lips + red hair = GORGEOUS 💜💜💜💜
This is amazing! It looks sooo good; this is what the every day woman in the 50’s would have looked like! Occasionally with longer thicker lashes or eyeliner but that’s basically it! I love it 😍
I clicked so fast it already looks interesting love you!!!
That dress is wonderful😍💕
Hey here's a video idea, could you talk about your move to California? How you planned, found a place, ect? I'm from Florida and I've been trying to plan for years on what I'll do to start my acting career but idk how to plan to live out of my state.
You are so pretty oh my god 🥺🥺🥺 I love vintage style and this account definitely inspires me! ❤️❤️❤️
It looks lovely on you. I'm so glad I don't have to go through that much work, though! My foundation is all-in-one and doesn't need powder. I have a brow brush that already has color in it so coloring and shaping is all done with one tool. I really did like the way the mascara came out, though. I might try that in the future.
Blessed by another video!! ♡
The eye makeup is delicate & GORGEOUS!
omg i heard “mr.sandman” in the background, great music choice😍😂
I love it, you look fresh and natural despite the red lipstick which brought a bright pop. The natural beauty term came to mind. I love it
That vintage makeup look makes you look fabulous!
You look gorgeous in this! They really did know what they were doing! BTW what kind of mascara is that and where can I purchase it??
minounah its by besame cosmetics. you can find it on ulta.com
The 50’s look I recall seeing as a child consisted of:
Powder loose or pancake; the face had to look opaque
A well defined lips with a red lipstick for older ladies and a pink one for girls.
Brushing of eybrows and eyelashes with wet to highlight its color after the powder might have gone over them.
Finally with the finger smear some lipstick and put it on the cheeks but very little to give some glow
A drop of parfum and hair combed appropriately
I’m super impressed you remember what Rose’s eyelashes from Titanic looked like! All I remember is how fabulous KW looked with red hair and even thigh she went back to blonde, that color has never been as flattering on her as the red.
I was singing along to mr.sandman lol
I was just watching this vintage makeup video before i saw your video like what? lol
i liked the tip on blending with a damp spong. I'll try it next time
I love the whole look. The hair, the dress, and the makeup!
Can you do following 60s makeup tutorial? Thx 😁
Tiffany Tedany I think she did
The eye makeup actually turned out really nice, I think i'm in love with the 50's fashion
I love this 1950's tutorial...so simple yet elegant
Just came across this video in my recommendations, and I have to say, it was really interesting!
I was very surprised about the eyeshadow tip they talked about. I never knew they put it towards the brow bone! However, I didn't hear what colour they recommend for brown eyes. I would be interested in knowing that! I know that, nowadays, golds and greens and purples are what most magazines and websites recommend, but I would like to be sure, haha!
This is the first time I watch your video n I hv to say that this make up style looks gorgeous on you. It looks fresh and clean and bright.
Mr. Sandman,
Bring me your dreams.
Make him the cutest
That I've ever seen
1. Mascara brush finally makes sense. Because it literally was a BRUSH!? and 2. OHHHHHHHHHHHH my word you look like a doll at the end I noticed how clean and white your face was and at the end it was georgious!!!
This is awesome, it is a memory of the past. It definitely gives insight of what people did back then.
By the way you're so beautiful Jess.
Oh shit they knew how to love themselves back then
Darkshadow5566
OOOOHHHH SHIT LMAOOO
Hahaha. What happened to this time?
I think it looks beautiful on you. And thanks for the candle container tip!!
This is absolutely my favourite of this tag that I’ve seen! Will jump right down that vintage tutorial rabbit hole now...
the way she sneaks dirty jokes into the video im wheezing
I really love the finished look, it's very simple and clean and nice. I've just recently started getting into makeup and I've noticed a lot of people, specifically Americans, do a lot of heavy makeup, which looks good on them but like a Halloween costume on me. I feel like this sort of look is more what I'm aiming for.
Is there a tutorial for that hairstyle? It's gorgeous!! Love the 50s look, it's so simple and still so stylish!
Good job. I highly recommend you try a lip brush. It makes such a difference in the coverage, look and feel. Less need for the blotting, too.
Love this!!!
I love it looks so sweet and naturally pretty
I like that look. Simple, elegant, traditional.
I love it!! You're so beautifulll!
I like how simple and classic it is but I just wish there was more going on with the eyes. But then again, I'm an eyeliner lover haha!
I love how they didn't draw a new face over their own, but istead emphasized their own beauty with a bit of make up. Hence why each lady looked different, but beautiful in her own way. I wish people would accept themselves more like this
so natural looking and pretty looking! Sadly i don't know about red lips. I've never tried that myself. I've always gone nude or a dark color.
I love it! It is so natural and cute. You should do it more often.
As someone who was born in the 50's. I really love this. Your makeup turned out great
Damn! 1950's women were more beautiful than us. 💝
sweet unicorn i don't think their face traits were more beautiful. What did make them more beautiful was the soft, feminine expression on their faces. They weren't trying to be men in dresses, they were women.
Tsubako Yumi that's the thing I was talking about
sweet unicorn Young women in the 60's looked even better
The result was amazing..😍😍 I only apply moizturizer on my skin and lipstick...
Not really.
I love it. its super easy. way easier then all that contour and beauty blending stuff ..and pretty much how I do my natural make up
The skin looks gorgeous, natural and glowy which is something I love for like every look anyways, but I don't think I'd use their eyeshadow tips personally. I was surprised by the use of a damp sponge over the powder, I always imagined vintage makeup being quite powdery. I suppose it's a lot like a glowy setting spray.
I didn't know they were finishing the powder application with a damp sponge. Interesting. Thank you for sharing.
I love that you're using Besame Cosmetics products!
Great video and you look terrific! The only thing that surprised me was the way they used the damp sponge at the end. I thought you were supposed to blot or “sponge” it around. I would think that wiping it, even gently would mess up all the face makeup. Must be a certain trick to getting and keeping it just right!
Beautiful!
I never knew mascara came like that!
not to be dramatic but you’re the most precious human being EVER💖💖💖
It looks very clean and gorgeous
Vintage makeup is so beautiful 💕
that radio is divine
Omg I literally love titanic Leo and Kate love em
Girl you gorgeous! No makeup needed
You look ethereal and elegant... just very, very lovely. This look really suits you.
Wait.... what? Looks like you didn’t put anything on your face just lipstick 😂
Lucky your naturally beautiful 😢
clarissa pecina that's what it is supposed to look like. Makeup now is caking your face and changing how you look. Makeup then was nothing more than enhancing your natural features
SapphireFox13 Well as someone who has very heavy dark circles, pimples and discoloration, this type of makeup definetly would not go good with me and other girls lol it looks good with her because she has very good skin
Space Witch honestly, caking on heavy makeup leads to more acne. I used to struggle with acne and I would do my best to cover it up. I always tried to do the Instagram makeup looks and it made my skin worse and worse. I got to the point where I stopped wearing as much makeup and my skin cleared up. Trust me, I know what acne is like, but makeup doesn't fix the problem. Take tips from Korean makeup that focuses on skincare before makeup
@@lazarose people in the 50s generally had better skin - better diet, more exercise, less time spent indoors - and the importance of getting a good night's sleep, eating healthily and having a good routine was heavily emphasised. That's why they didn't need to cake on the make-up.
I love this! I don't wear make up because these days its so complicated but this is so simple.
My mom is 70 and she still uses makeup as she did in the 60's. Foundation, mascara, use lipstick for rouge, then lipstick. That's absolutely all.
Honestly, it works.
I've been playing with makeup a bit more as I age and I do like the result, but it's not taking as much to create a younger, clean appearance as I thought it would.
I want all of those vintage things you have omg 😭😭😭
It's so fresh and so beautiful! I love it!
