"Has the power to silence teenagers" this is legit.
Victor Khe The video might as well say the tomb “has the power to silence women.” Technically, it would still be true 🤷🏻♂️ The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier has the power to silence a lot of people, not just one age group
Agreed, as a former brat teenager, unknown tombs actually made me more disciplined, joining our military.
Weeks away from reception rites
@@SchnellTim But can it fix ''Women Be Shopping!''!
Hopefully
should've said "has the power to silence females"
So, I'm an Army veteran. I've stood my share of guard posts and dog and pony shows. My first tour was in the mid-80's as a tank crewman patrolling the inter German border, so in a sense I've got more than the usual time standing post.
I have a lot of respect for the Honor Guard. A useless bit of military trivia that you had no need to know, when Hurricane Irene hit DC the troops were given the option to forgo their marching and stand a static post under shelter. Every single one of them refused, insisting that their duty was to walk the post. And so they did.
And that sir, is the metal that true hero's are forged from.
The 3rd herd knows how to cowboy up
This post is their whole life. (My son is an active duty Marine.) So many apply for the post, but don't make it, because they have to be perfect 24/7.
Your respect for the post is what we should wish all Americans had. To respect the fact that men and women have died to preserve our freedom, and some will never be buried in a grave their families can visit.
Thank you, Hicks, for your service to our country. I'm sorry not to address you properly, but it's only because I don't know your rank.
In my mind, you are the hero of heroes, for simply having served in ANY branch of our military.
@@taranorris3769 I agree with you.
Only a honor guard would know like this small chapel, well everyone knows now
Lmao I was thinking the same thing
Probably more how to get to the chapel I imagine.
For 100 yrs old hes in good shape , a good memory, a good head of hair , coherent speech and light on the feet, good Gene's I'm sure
He and all those buried there are the reason why you need to STAND and pay respect for the Flag, not burn it like terrorists. Those who choose to hide behind the flag to justify burning it have never defended it. Integrity is a lost art. ~USAF Vet
One American protecting his fallen brothers. 🙏
“He knew details only a guard would know…”
*tells everyone the detail*
Well, tell me, how do you get to that Chapel? Which building is it in? Is it above or below ground? Do you make a left turn or right turn at the end of the hallway? Except for mentioning that the Chapel itself exists, I'm sure there are a lot of other things that only Sentinels themselves would know about the place. Locations have history too.
this man gets my full respect, along with all the men and women in our military’s
Nothing but pride and Salute to this fine American soldier!! 🇺🇲🇺🇸🇺🇲🇺🇸🇺🇲
My neighbor that lives up from me was a guard of the tomb also. I love listening to his stories
I was there when I was teenager.....He right about it silencing teenagers. You are spell bound!! Everyone man and women should witness it at least once!!
Seen it 3 times
saw it once about 10-11 years ago
Do you all remember The Marines did this for decades? All evidence scrubbed from internet???
Those damn teenagers never being silent. This marble statue, it silences them.
it should've said "can silence females"
GOD BLESS YOU SIR
When he said when I’m gone it hit the heart
i like how they said he knew things no one else could know.. and then shows one of those things so now everyone knows lmaol
Imagine the history lesson he could give with his knowledge TY for your service SIR........
He deserves that and more. I salute you sir
Thank you for your Service Good Sir
Good to see he can still dance at 100 something every one should strive for in life to have fun and live every day like it's ur last ...... God bless all the men and women in the army come.bk safe and may God watch over you and keep u safe till I return home much respect ............
GOD BLESS HIS HEART !!!!! 😙😙😙
Thank you for your service.
Thank you for your service Jack Eaton. True Honor to have your name up there on the board. Thank you for all you have done. God bless you and your family
Awesome
"...and when I'm gone..."
Please don't say that :
Seeing the tomb of the unknown soldier was a great experience . It really was a very symbolic tomb to see view . Although because I have never served in our military I left the theater out of respect for those who had served . My dad spent many hours in the theater of the monuments the tomb of the unknown . I think any type of military service for our country is symbolic anyway . May we honour those in death and in our life and the next life to come after this one . May we never forget there service and there sacrifice for our country . The promise and pledge to freedom equal justice and liberty for all under the law .
Thank gosh he gard it he will not be forgotten
0:44 "that has the power to silence teenagers"........but obviously evan that power can't keep them from texting (sadly)
I don't know if I had a couple minutes before the ceremony I would probably take a picture of the Tomb and sentinel then tagged my location on FB
Thank you for bringing that story to me that was beautiful I hope I could bead half half of man that he was thank you again I love you all bye-bye
"I learned in my 12 years of compulsory education that I'm free."
Ever since July of 1937 this most sacred place has been guarded 24/7/365, for an hour in winter, for a 1/2 hour in the scorching heat of summer, their uniforms are 100% wool, and yes the M14 rifles are completely 100% functional, the one thing that I despise most is people talking during the changing of the guard simply because it shows no respect and with these individuals having given their identity in service to our nation we must always obey the orders of these ever vigilant sentinels!
I thank this great man! As just a plain old vet, I've gotta tell ya just how easy it would be to have your name removed. Vietnam War Vet.
As a daughter of a Vietnam Vet, God bless you Sir, thank you for your service,👍👏and welcome home.🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

It “has the power to silence teenagers”... Sounds like a slight dis move there. You see what you expect to see from teenagers
Wrong
You must be a teen. Learn to not be offended when someone isnt talking about you directly. Teenagers on avg are obnoxious annoying little pricks.
Eric Owens Annoying? Like this comment?
@@benjaminramsey498 He has a point, teenagers now don't know what respect is. They don't know how to respect the people who died for them.

"awesome monument" and "has the power to silence teenagers" lmao
As a veteran of Vietnam, I salute this gentleman for his commitment to guard the tomb, but more so to the memory of the fallen even though his name is unknown. What a contrast to our president and coward in chief.
At least he didn't go to England to go to college to smoke pot that he said he never inhaled.
@talon55130 He is referring to communist Donald J Trump, another president of our country that has no care nor respect for the United States Constitution.
Why bring politics into it?
@@xAlienWarfareGamingx Wow, you just proved that Trump Derangement Syndrome is real. He's living in your head rent free, 24/7, 365!
Even though this comment is 2 years old, I feel I need to comment on it.
I am the great grandchild of Jack, he has told me many stories about his time he served there. I was also at his 100th birthday in Early 2019, and Donald Trump himself sent him a letter congratulating him on his 100th birthday, keep in mind this was before his name was on the plaque. Trump is a great man and respects veterans of all ages. You don't have to believe me, however this is a true story and I am proud to be related to such a great man.

A DUI? That's sad😔
But true. The standard is perfection and perfect they shall act. I know a guy who got his tomb guard badge revoked.
@@davidschick6951 what did he do?
Obviously the unknown soldier is not one person 😤
When Jack served there was only one. The Unknown from WWI. After he finished and WWII started, he re-enlisted and served with the Army in Europe. Since then three more have been buried there. Then DNA identified the Vietnam unknown. His remains were returned to his family and that crypt is empty.

True. I do wish we could give honor to God like these sentinels do to the fallen. I find they inspire me to take my service to God more seriously.
@@annettetesta8816 It's all about Jesus Christ. Noting else matters in this life or the next.

Oh yes because teenagers are so hard to shut up
HE WAS ABLE TO PROVE THIS SERVICE BY RECALLING THIS CHAPEL THAT WE ARE NOW SHOWING YOU AND TELLING YOU IS A SECRET ONLY SENTINALS KNOW.
Oh god how stupid...
I personally know Jack. He has never been a stupid man. He had items and knowledge that helped to prove that he served. He was there when Princess Elizabeth and her parents, the King and Queen of England, visited. Two summers ago I attended a Blue Star Mother convention and we had our memorial service in that chapel. This was before we (Mid-Michigan Honor Flight) were able to get him back to Arlington. The chapel was mentioned and the piece was edited so it sounded like this was the only "proof" he provided.
