Really sorry for what happened. Try to be extra careful. Come down to south india, like Karnataka, Kerala or Tamilnadu, it's more safe and people are more hospitable here. But exceptions can be everywhere. If you are someone who can adjust a bit, you will definitely enjoy the India trip. All the best bro

not hating or bashing india, but there are a lot of scammers everywhere around india, mostly the drivers and hotels. and if you are a male, some hotel staffs try to lure you into brothels. my first experience in banglore was a hotel staff forcing me to go to a brothel, note: only the normal hotels/(the ones like motels but we call it hotels). also try to avoid the transgenders around heritages or trains, again not hating on transgenders but you will notice why. and i am planning for a 10 days vacation in maharashtra end of this month, lets tour the state if you are there with buncha nepali dudes. edit: one more thing, get different apps like uber, ola, rapido and travel through them(dont ever choose cash payment if you book a vehicle from these apps coz they rarely have any change to give you back). there is also an app called red bus where you can book a bus seat for travelling. train rides can be booked from irctc, i would recommend you to book anything ac in the trains as long as you dont get familiar with the indian culture and people, coz it can get a lot hectic in the non-ac berths.
I can trust anyone in the world but not indian..I have so bad memory in India and I can't forget that never in this life. So please don't trust anyone easily..I think remote area's people are more kind there in India compared to City area.

I'm sorry for your experience. Actually, I also got scammed first night I arrived in India, by a taxi driver. He pretended that he got lost while looking for the hotel and then offered to find other hotel. I was so tired, 'cause I traveled 17h by an airplane and it was 3am in the morning, so I couldn't even think straight, I just wanted to find any place to sleep. So we were driving from 3am to about 5am going to different hotels, but they didn't agree for me and my boyfriend to be in one room (like what?), because he's an Indian and and weren't married yet. That was so weird for me to understand. Finally, after hours of searching we found a hotel, but they also charged me too much. The first impressions for me wasn't good as well, so I understand you. Next time I'll be more aware and careful for the scammers.

Leaving Nepal in the coming week or so and heading down for my 2nd time in India and this video reminds me so well about why I can temper some of my excitement haha. I got scammed so much when I was there last time, it was quite exhausting and very sad actually that you have to remain cautious of what may ultimately be actual friendly locals, because of the bad ones. They're like wizards some of the scammers there for sure. Also had me in the 'government tourist office'. I don't usually get a local sim card because I hate having that constant connection and option to browse, but I think the first thing I'll do this time is grab one. So we were driving from 3am to about 5am going to different hotels, but they didn't agree for me and my boyfriend to be in one room (like what?), because he's an Indian and and weren't married yet. That was so weird for me to understand. Finally, after hours of searching we found a hotel, but they also charged me too much.
The first impressions for me wasn't good as well, so I understand you. Next time I'll be more aware and careful for the scammers.

I've been to nepal before and I feel it is safer there and I'll visit it again many times now. Cause I liked it there but. Stop with the racism💀. Leaving Nepal in the coming week or so and heading down for my 2nd time in India and this video reminds me so well about why I can temper some of my excitement haha. I got scammed so much when I was there last time, it was quite exhausting and very sad actually that you have to remain cautious of what may ultimately be actual friendly locals, because of the bad ones. They're like wizards some of the scammers there for sure. Also had me in the 'government tourist office'. I don't usually get a local sim card because I hate having that constant connection and option to browse, but I think the first thing I'll do this time is grab one. @@timtense Absolutely! It kind of reminds me of the Bourdain quote 'don't be afraid to eat a bad meal, if you don't risk the bad meal you never get the magical one' . Suppose you have to almost accept that you're going to have a few bad eggs when you open yourself to real experiences. In India those few bad eggs happen to be a whole poultry farm 😂
Yeah, I'm doing mostly the tourist spots now and those places have lots of overly clever people but on my next visit I'll get more of the beaten path and hopefully find the real authentic and friendly Indians!

Scammers pretty normal in india (especially) but just be extra careful and don’t argue with the taxi or auto (rickshaw) drivers…they are kinda rude…

Being a nepali, recently i travelled india..man i had a hard time and got scammed mostly everywhere and our stuffs also got stolen just while changing the bus…i love india but man the country needs to do a lot although being strong country the livelihood of people out there is really not good
