Try this with Berenice. Equip her with the Black-Iron Sword, Warriors Medallion, and Lucky Coin. Your crit would be so absurd that nothing survives when she smacks them.

The Sellsword can’t attack the back line with following slash until the front line is gone. She deletes some of those frontline cavalry units and units with more than one attack per battle, assuming they aren’t super high defense or thieving little hobos.
The Shaman will empowers the Gladiator/Sellsword combo where the Gladiator heals itself from measly damage and sellsword gets all mad about it. Shaman can also sap PP from the thief so she may get a heavy slash off from that as well, clearing the front line for possibly more following slashes.
Makes sense that's why the Following Slash has looked so inconsistent, good to keep in mind.
Yep, this exactly. Can't follow-up attack the back row until the front row is dealt with. It's great for combatants on the front row, but will not do it for back row until the front row is empty. If there is a way to make the following slash ranged later...RIP.
She didn't following slash because there was still a tank in the front row blocking her from attacking the backline. I think. Not 100%

Sellswords sound like they would work really well with Hoplites - the latter defends a fellow squaddie, takes minimal damage, the former's Passive Ability activates and she counterattacks. If the Hoplite has enough PP, this could go on for every enemy attack.
True it work even work vs flyers and archers. Seems like a great combo is you can get the PP. For sure worth a try especially when you give the hoplite a unwavering spear and let it do coulmn attacks

I just got Bernice on expert mode of the demo, but I ran out of time. I really wanted to try her because regular sellsword mercs fall like paper despite their heavy damage dealing.
Should have used the real name for them: Landsknecht, or in Swedish Landsknekt (... love the name) , we had a few documented here in Sweden as well. I fully understand why they went with a female version though, as the males used to have a fake cover around their "thing" and some would make them extremly absurd and large to pretend they had the biggest "Thing". someone has to give out the history lessons in the comment section! but yeah, these guys would wield 2H swords and clash with pikes and cavalry.

Hopefully the promoted version is called that.
One history note that should be added is regular mercs, if they didn't go around like the Landsknekt with a claymore, often carried large axes or hatchets, for protection or other work. Or a broad sword/gladius + hunting knife combination. It'd be great to see the sell swords strapped with an extra knife somewhere.
I love sellsword but missing hurts so the go to is adding precision onto her and the warrior amulet also provides okay offense stats, overall precisions makes her way way more reliable and better in most situations
It's a later mission but have you recruited Melisadre the Swordfighter yet? Especially with the sword from beating her mission, absolutely insane kit

The counter strategy is so well done. There’s like an Uno reverse for everything.
Knights are better, but sellswords have dem legs.
