Caridee: *develops hypothermia after everyone has been telling Tyra the water is freezing*
Tyra: *shocked Pikachu face*
Step 1: put models in freezing pool
Step 2: models get hypothermia & almost die
Step 3: ...
Step 4: profit?
And then criticises HER for getting it, when she was constantly telling the girls to just deal with it. Bc wHeN sHe DiD sPoRtS iLlUsTrAtEd...
Don’t offend pikachu
BTS that wasn't shown:
Mollie: Weave really isn't working, they start taking out the ramen noodle weave.
Mr. Jay: Calls Tyra to tell her it isn't just working, her hair is too fine
Tyra: Do it anyways. Bye.
Throw Tyra in!
If that model spoke up, they would be ragging on her because she couldn't stay in the water.
either way they get criticism. there's literally no way for the girls to win. makes me soooo angry!!
@@ErinaBleu Me too. In a professional setting, this would never happen. But, it's a reality show, and they can do that.
CariDee should’ve sued honestly. Winner or not. They literally put her health at risk for a pretty picture.
If it was really bad but not quite hypothermia and she said she needed a break, they'd be fake-understanding, and then manipulate her into being like "I'm gonna get back in the game✨" then they'd applaud her like "...and you went back and you FINISHED even though you weren't feeling well"
!! OR !! They'd show her like giggle and get out, cutting to similar shots over and over to imply she was constantly, frivolously stopping the shoot, even if for all we know she only did it once. Then at judging they would say how every other girl stuck it out, does she even want to be here, the other girls want it more, no one wants to hire a high maintenance model, time is money.
So the model goes into hypothermia from the freezing cold pool water, and they tell the model that it is *HER* fault because she didn’t “listen to her body.” Then basically tell her she’s not strong enough to be a model. What the- I... I can’t. This show was beyond toxic.
And you know damn well they would have told her she was being hard to work with and a diva if she said anything
I feel like a lot across all of the fashion industry back then was the same way in attitude. I studied design and it was typical for people like that to ignore concerns and you'd be accused of being 'problematic' and the moment something happens they then turn it around on them, it's just disgusting! It's why I decided to not be a part of the industry when I finished my degree, it's all about people flexing their power making others feel small. I just hope it's changed/changing now.
Ikr such a manipulative behavior
and the fact that when she first got in she said it was freezing, they all said it was
@@caslivaited yup and the word for that manipulative behaviour is gaslighting
The bully who was bullied. Tyra’s entire professional career was being judged, compared, criticised, told to lose weight, told to walk different, told to talk different.. and she goes on to do the same.
She had every opportunity to make a difference, to be better than this. She's deserves all the karma coming for her.
Tyra needs therapy, not a TV career.
Some people are slow learners.
This is the classic case of the abused being a abuser. You would think, a abused person would empathise more on similar situations. She should really work out her issues .
@@acuerdo3 or perhaps she doesn't want to learn in the first place.
"as a model you have to know when to let us know that your body has reached that point" SHE DID- she got out. she did the right thing. Give her credit Tyra damn
Exactly! She wasn't hypothermic yet. She stopped the shoot in time. 🤦♀️They just can't be pleased. If she'd tapped out before the extreme hand tremors began they would've said she was just making excuses.
yea shes trying to shift legal liability for negligence by gaslighting her
@@sethm3856 exactly
“you’re looking really stiff”
you know what makes muscles stiff? LOW TEMPERATURES!!!!
I've done a polar swim before. You can barely move. Beyond wanting to torture models, this wouldn't even be conducive for a good shot.
Mhm.
Model; "I'm actually freezing, this is to cold, I can't feel my skin anymore and I can't stop shivering"
Tyra; "Stop complaining, that's what being a model is like, I was in the snow once, it's not that bad, now pose!"
Model; *Get's hypothermia*
Tyra; " Well, it's your fault, you should have told us"
This is a literal manipulation tactic wtf Tyra
Not to mention, you notice how they’re not in jackets? They’re in California on a sunny day. Everyone on set is wearing shorts and tank tops so how is the water so cold to the point of hypothermia? Suspicious...
@@YellowPsych i dont thinj someone can fake hypothermia though
@@chelseamaysalilig3856 I think they meant that someone made the pool colder on purpose for those extra clicks. But idk
Tyra is literally the worst
I swear if the girls complain tyra tells them a story of what's she's done which actuall turns into a story what she's saw someone else done. Like betch it's not a compitinion on who did what the longest
Tyra will praise models for showing up to a shoot when they are nauseous and sick but then when a model is having a medical emergency it’s the model’s fault for not saying anything. But she’s always telling them that they need to push through. It’s so frustrating to watch.
THIS! It’s so infuriating, they just always moved the goalposts for these girls
If i were one of the models in this situation and they told me I needed to speak up I would have said I DID, WE ALL DID! WE ALL SAID IT WAS COLD!
"You missed the shot! You were supposed to be here! Where were you?" "I was getting surgery I told y-" "It doesn't matter. You should've been here. Look at June, she's literally DEAD and she's still here!"

Tyra: "Stop whining and do your job 😩✋🏻"
Model: *gets hypothermia*

Ridiculous.....this pool could have been heated up. It's gonna change everything for a shoot. Including on white skin, blue/purple. Anything is shivering ....like yeah bathtub 🛀 water.....this is so stupid. 🔥

Tyra is one nasty lady
She's gen x.
She's a solid Gen X....with Boomer tendencies. Lol
As a former model that was made to feel that being cold, being in pain, and putting myself in danger was my job, THANK YOU FOR THIS! Abuse is NEVER a part of any job.
@Cosmeti Moda I probably won’t make videos on RUclips, but I’d be happy to do a series on my TikTok!
@Cosmeti Moda you’re so nice! It’s @earthytiana ❤️
THANK YOU ME TOO!!
Your enchanting
If that is you in the profile picture, you are charming beautiful!
It’s literally abuse. They’re putting their health at risk and threatening them and then gaslighting them. I haven’t watched ANTM in a long time but i used to love it and these videos have really opened my eyes to how truly awful the show was.
Well the show is about drama after all, nothing to do with modeling.
Yesss watching this now I’m surprised this show was even allowed to air lol. There are so many wrong messages. A lot of these girls are taken advantage of for content
Same. The show is horrible and so is Tyra for putting women through this. She could have made it so much more than it was.
@@kailanicapelouto2686 it really shows how much society has changed since the show began honestly. I don’t think anyone thought too much of it when the show was in its hay day
Same!
"you have to tell us when you're past your limits" Everyone before the shoot: "I know the water is cold but this is real modeling" "The cold is down there, I don't wanna see it in ur face" "Models have to go through this without problems." And you expect the model, after hearing all that, to tell them when she's past her limits?
and when they do tell them when they’re past their limit, the models are yelled at for not partaking in the shoot
@@nicole-yi9bm antm is such a laugh, you lose either way. Cause I've seen the judges get mad for telling them AND not telling them. Knowing how models are treated really kills any ambition you might have ever had to be one 🤷🏾♀️
@@sweetie_babie yea, the show was really angering in the fact that the models could never truly win, the judges were always in the right and all knowing
@@sweetie_babie models aren't actually treated like this! In any other scenario where you'd have to model in the cold, they'd have a warming station set up right outside the set, so you take a few shots, warm up, take a few more etc. They don't want you looking cold, or messing up precious film with your shivering. They want you warm and beautiful. They don't want that hospital bill or lawsuit either lol
I hated that so much! I remember a few times a girl was like i don't want to do this, I'm not confortable with this, etc. And the judges ALWAYS reprimanded them and treated them as brats, telling them basically that they should be _grateful_ they're in the competition and just because they had healthy boundaries. Excuse me, what??
This is how even the best swimmers drown. because you get so cold your muscles become numb and you cant move. this was so beyond dangerous. it was very close to life threatening.

I watched Oliver TwiXt interview Eugena Washington, and she actually explained why Caridee reacted so severely. She was on medication for her psoriasis, and a side effect of it was extreme sensitivity to cold. And the producers knew this! I did a little research, which I’m not sure how accurate this is so please do your own, but some psoriasis medications thin your blood. Which can cause you to be EXTREMELY susceptible to cold. And again, THE PRODUCERS KNEW THIS!!
I agree with you about certain meds. My mom is on blood thinners and she gets cold even in summer. Where we live, right now the temps are 100 degrees and she is running a little electric heater in her bedroom...it's July!! So yes, some meds can make you cold even in hot weather.
I’ve always wondered why Caridee got so sick but Amanda was fine because Amanda is very thin. I’m not trying to criticize Caridee at all, it’s horrible how she was treated leading to her being hypothermic. But I always thought it was a body fat or body mass issue. The medications make a lot of sense.
Im confused as to why the pool needed to be freezing to do this shot lol
There’s an interview with Eugena where she said she talked to some people in production about this shoot years later and that they admitted the pool was a major safety/health concern (and even expressed this to Tyra), but that Tyra kept pushing for the shoot to happen this way!
For the viiiiieeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwsssss.

Drama
Seems like laziness to me.
Like someone forgot to turn on the pool heaters, or they couldn't be bothered to find a heated pool..
So stupid... and cheap, and lazy, and unprofessional.
I heard somewhere that you lose body temperature a lotttt more quickly in water too... so compared to being in cold air, being in cold water is much much worst.
I once saw a behind the scenes of a “winter” swimsuit photoshoot, as soon as the girls werent taking pictures they wrapped in a blanket and put a big puff coat on them, along with a warm drink. Most shoots are humane and consider the model, tyras shoots are never.
Yes! How did they not have hot showers? Or thermo blankets?
Literally the first ever photo shoot of ANTM was a swimsuit shot in the winter and that’s exactly how they handled it. The girls were in the suits for a few minutes and then immediately put in coats when they weren’t posing for a shot before they even left the set. Elyse had to stop shooting several times because she was so small and so freezing and they wrapped her in a blanket until she stood up for the shot and then was back down again. The way this show continually got worse and worse in how they treated the girls for shock value and basically endurance testing is so gross
Yeah I think osha would have some things to say about this shoot...
@@violet_saint Right??? I was wondering the whole time where is OSHA?
Why do swimsuit photoshoots in the middle of freezing cold weather at all??
This whole show is gaslighting at its finest lmao. THE AUDACITY
That’s such a perfect way to describe it. 😂
I thought the exact same thing. Regardless of what the issue is, the model is wrong. I lost it when Jay said she needs to know her limits.
Remember when Danielle was sick in cycle 6 and had to the go to the hospital, but still left the ER early so she could do the photoshoot? Even after all that, Nigel had the audacity to call her "high maintenance" at judging (half-jokingly). Yikes, the gaslighting and guilt-tripping in this show was sometimes off the charts.
THE AUDACITY
What is Gas lighting?
“there was once a sports illustrated photoshoot in the snow...i didn’t do it, the other models did.”
oh thanks tyra, thats sooo helpful 🙄
The fact that the medical team tried to help the poor cold model in the background while Tyra and the rest all just carried on like nothing. Disgusting. The whole "The show must go on" doesn't always apply!
Yeah this REALLY bugged me. One model
got hypothermia, so let’s send the OTHER girl back in for 50 more shots so she can get hypothermia too??? Wtf??? But yeah Tyra, you care. So much.
They all handled it sooo wrong!!! You should never EVER rub a cold person like that, it can cause so much damage! I have some theoretical knowledge about this, because I'm going to educate myself as a combat life saviour. And wow, this was terrible to watch... Poor girls...
Someone needs to make a whole book on Tyra contradicting herself lol
I recently watched a video with Jay Manuel on his book and he gave some very insigtful info on Tyra. Like when he said he was moving on to do other things and then came back for a judging, tried to say hi to Tyra cause they've been friends for so long and she just walked on past.
If they did, the book would be longer than "War and Peace".......
UNbelievable that they tried to take the “you’ve got to tell us...” angle. Omgggggg ALL the girls said it was too cold.
also Caridee basically did say 'Guys I need a break, I'm getting sick here' like twice.
@@aliciapearson3120 Yes!
After she tells them:
"You should have told us"
WTF?
Isn't like saying "we never Saw the signs" when someone kills itself?
They're hypocritical af. First they drive home the narrative that models are basically props for the photographer to use, so they should endure all discomfort and sacrifice their own integrity for the photoshoot. And then they victim blame the girl who got hypothermia and say "a model should know her limits" and "just tell us"... I can't.
I hate cancel culture, but really, cancel Tyra. Please. It’s time.
for real, it's gross

isnt this the same show where they kicked someone off because they refused to model underwear? i mean, i know its a different kind of limit here, but still.
Tyra had said either in an interview or in an early season that she is never fully nude in photoshoots. On the show she gets disappointed and talks down to models that say they don't want to get 100 precent nude. She is a constant hypocrite. X.X

Model 1: She's dramatic.(Points at Model 2)
Model 2: *Literally about to die*
Conspiracy Theory: Tyra tortures all these girls on purpose to get back at all the people that "did her wrong" in the modeling industry.
She thinks if she treats them like this, she’ll be great like the ones who made her great
That’s exactly what I think too! Because she always has a story of when “it happened to her”. It’s like the show was some sort of payback but on these young girls that had nothing to do with it and really only wanted to be just like her. So Fd up!
Her "art choices" scream "traumas and insecurities"
If you know about pizzagate then the trauma she put these poor girls through isn’t surprising. This is only a top layer of the kind of mind manipulation they do to people to control them
Fr she's just been hazing these girls for years
When she said she was too cold:
Tyra: "Come on! You're from Fargo!!"
When she becomes hypothermic:
Tyra: "you didn't let me know!!!"

Tyra’s comment in here was such a stupid stereotype. Since you lived in a cold area, then you surely must endure the cold?😑🥴 I get this all the time, living in Mexico but coming from an European country. But I mean I didn’t live in the snow, we have actually heated houses and places, lol there’s no need to endure any cold. Lol I hate cold so much and have zero resistance to it 😅😅😅
Tyra's "swimsuits and shot in the winter, coats are shot in the summer" argument is one of the reasons models have pushed for unionization and workers protections over the past decade.
Yes Tyra chooses the "best picture". I remember one time a girl told Tyra she took better photos then the one chosen and Tyra shut her down and was like noo if you had better pictures, I would have chose it.
Check the shoot on a junkyard on cycle 16, the picture they chose for Brittany just to punish her.
I got confused. It was not the junkyard shoot , actually it was the shoot where she had to act crazy for shoes. She did great but they chose the worst photo
Tyra reminds me so much of one of my first jobs as a nurse aid. Coworkers kept leaving and left me in the building of 100 residents alone many times a shift. One particular week, I had done a full night shift (my regular shift) and my relief never showed up. It's illegal to leave the building without any aids to cover. So I remained. This continued for the next two full days! 7 shifts! I was there. I eventually collapsed on the floor and my boss pulled me to an empty room where I fell asleep immediately. When I woke up I was SCOLDED for working too much overtime and not somehow getting people to take my shift!! Um, that's the Head nurse's job! 🤕😒 But I was really young and I beat myself up thinking I was a terrible CNA. To this day I have Nightmares of that incident. I'm permanently disabled with Chronic fatigue, pain and panic attacks. Literally feels like that took all my energy for the rest of my life and that was 13 years ago
What a horrible experience, I'm so sorry. I couldn't imagine.
You poor thing! That’s terrible! That is a traumatic experience
Yup. I’ve stayed for 16 hrs shifts, asked if I could sleep ON THE FLOOR in an office for the next shift. I did it and the next day got yelled at by a supervisor for sleeping in an office. They would insist that if I couldn’t care for all these patients by myself then I wasn’t a good nurse. I lost weight trying to do a good job because I wouldn’t eat and would never stop moving. I was drinking so much coffee/energy drinks plus my adderall. It was so fucked up. Older nurses can be ASSHOLES
Damn, sorry to hear u went through that. Crazy people out there
I'm a cna and I 100% back everything you say. Healthcare culture is so toxic!
FYI: Swimsuits aren't "shot in the winter". Collections are done litterally a year to 18 MONTHS in advance so most are actually shot in the summer a year before commercial release.
Not to mention it's warm all year round in sooooo many places!! So even if it is shot in "winter" it's not cold in the tropics!
yet another example of Tyra manipulating and gaslighting the models. Please let's just cancel her already, she was pretty much abusing these women just for a TV show.

“Why can’t the water be warm”. Like literally Tyra. Lol
I feel like Tyra is on a mission to prove that modeling is difficult. I remember in cycle one there was a girl who insisted that modeling was easy... it drove Tyra CRAZY.
If u compare modelling to other jobs like doctors or engineers yes... modelling is not that usefull and it's easy.
@@ultron374 you're wrong, modeling is actually difficult without a good training, but don't compare them to doctors or engineers, like its not in the same level
I think that is part of it & i also think that thousands of girls would audition for the show at the time & they should be grateful that they were selected to be in the show and not have any single excuse etc lol yeah tyra is crazy
Let me put in my 2c as a doctor. Part of what keeps my brain healthy is eating well. I know I wouldn't function well if I was starving. And it would be cold for a normal person in that pool. Now put in a model with very little body fat as insulation and it's just asking for trouble. Modelling has its stress and difficulties, I know I would never become a model even if I had the right look/ proportions....just no guarantee of good money or career stability. So you can't compare apples with oranges.
@@renatasaieg9301 So he isn't wrong. Though modelin is indeed difficult, more so without training, it's not even lne the same level as doctors.
As someone from Fargo, ND hearing "you're from Fargo!" Pissed me off. Yea, we wear winter coats here. People get frost bite within minutes during the worst part of winter.
The audition process for this show ruined how I felt about modeling and about my body for the longest time. I spent so much money traveling back and forth during this process and made it so far just for them to make fun of my braces at the time even though they would’ve been off before filming started.
I’m so sorry
By the way, you are absolutely stunning. I hope you have been able to get past the horrific experience and maintain a positive view of yourself, the truth is that you are lovely.
Actually going on the show would’ve been even more scarring, count yourself lucky you didn’t succumb to their disguised torture week after week
Eugena actually talked about this episode in an interview recently and said that she talked to the producers years later and they admitted to knowing how dangerous it was at the time including Tyra. This was some real f'd up stuff. Should have never happened.
Tyra is a sadist I swear torturing these poor girls is how she gets off
Or revenge.
She wants to see just how far they’d go and get some drama
She gets a kick out of it
The liability of pulling one model because she was hypothermic but letting the other girl stay in the pool 🤯🤯🤯
The hypothermic girl was on psoriasis meds that made her get hypothermia more easily, that might explain why the other girl was fine
I did a mermaid shoot with my friends in my green pool at the end of the summer. The shots got published and turned out perfect and we had shots of us all floating in the water. We all took turns being in the water and our photographer even jumped in for some shots. Definitely a much better situation than these models had to deal with. We had towels on stand by and had a shower ready to go.
Oh wow I bet you looked beautiful x
"You have to step away from the situation" Caridee: *stepped away from the situation and asked to stop shooting*
Right? She did exactly what Tyra said to do, but somehow she still did something wrong😑
I hate how much I loved this show when I was younger, like every clip I watch now just ANGERS me. To think of all the negative ways this may have influenced my poor teenage thoughts 😳
This is exactly what I’m thinking too!
Cause we were kids & didn’t know any better
The weather looks quite sunny. Everyone is in summer clothes. I have a feeling they somehow did something to make the water colder just to create drama and traumatise the models as always.
Holy cow i didn't even think of that, thats so true!
Unless they did the shoot in the early morning where the pool was covered and had yet to be heated up by the sun, the pool wouldn't be that cold.
@@aje-olokunsChile yeah but I doubt that cause these shoots take a while to do. The water should’ve atleast heated up to the point that its not freezing cold.
Yes! I noticed that! I have experience modelling in lakes and rivers and I think the same. If everyone is wearing summer clothes, it means that it's warm. The water should not be that cold. So, it also looks to me that they did it on purpose.
Yh in from England and I have a pool that's not heated, an I always get cold easier and when I'm in there its not that cold, i think there overacting
@@amy_lou_5x hypothermia isn't overacting - that means it was cold
she was literally saying "it's so cold" multiple times 💀 the gasligthing
Jessica I never really noticed the fact that Tyra always makes everything about her in each episode!! its crazy!!
The definition of a narcissist
Yeah, once you notice it's mind-blowing!
Tyra has a way of framing everything to make it seem relevant or that she’s coming from a caring place and really she’s just talking about herself. Plus the editing seems like the models independently talk about how down to earth and wonderful she is when they’re being asked and provoked for that response.
Can we also talk about how the judges will comment on the girls' weights but then make them swim in freezing cold water for this? Physically they should know that they do not have excess fat to warm them.
I have experience modelling in rivers and lakes in the north of England during autumn. In my experience, it is painful at first but then I get used to the cold and I can shoot while everyone else is wearing a coat outside. However, I do it willingly and the whole team is always very nice to me. No one pushes me to do anything I don't feel comfortable doing. And this is what matters. Different people have different thresholds for pain and temperature and models should be able to say no.
Edit: I also want to mention that there is something weird about this ANTM shoot. Everyone is wearing summer clothes outside, which means that it's warm and the swimming pool water should not be that cold. Now, I am just speculating here but is it possible that the show made the water colder on purpose? The reactions of the models are normal in very cold water, but the water should not be that cold if the weather is warm. So, it seems to me that they made the water colder on purpose (maybe throwing ice, I don't know). Just speculation.
I heard the producers had to put in ice on Tyra’s demand in an interview with Eugenia and OliverTwixt, and the producers talked to Tyra about it being dangerous
I don’t know.. I remember getting in a pool in june it was 27C outside but the pool was damn ice cold. Maybe cold night + barely warm day= semi frozen water
I was thinking the same. Whenever I see this episode I'm thinking do they put ice on purpouse?
The water could have naturally been that cold. They just felt the cold more because they were not moving around in it. I find that in a cold pool as soon as I stop swimming I start shivering hahah.
I work as a swimming instructor and by experience the water is always cold during the aummer but always hot/ OK during the winter and it has something to do with the temp of your skin and the difference in temperature
"I don't know what kind of bueno you're talking about" is my favorite quote to come from this show
The first time reading this, I thought it was referring to the delicious tasty Kinder wafer like treat lol
The worst part of this whole thing is that she was praised all the way for her perfect shots. Why eliminate her? She did the freaking shoot.
She didn’t get sent home
spoiler‼️ but caridee actually won that season
11:51 him saying that “you need to tell us when you are past your limits” ah yes, like when that model in another episode said she doesn’t model lingerie/underwear and you took her out of the show because she didn’t do the shoot
I've gotten hypothermia before and the shaking is literally uncontrollable, it's absolutely horrible. I was so cold I hadn't even noticed I was shaking until someone told me
Wtf and they blame her for “not telling them she was cold” !?!?!!? I hate them. I’m raging.... Toxic toxic toxic omg
She has to tell them THIS IS WHAT MODELING IS. It ain’t peaches and creams here. Modeling requires u to be on very sticky, bad situations. Is not all pretty all the time. People think that is not ok, well they signed for that and in the modeling industry MODELS DO WORSE THINGS THAN THIS. Tyra knew they where cold but being cold doesn’t necessarily means your gonna die so if they don’t tell Tyra “HEY MY BODY IS SHUTTING DOWN” they can’t do anything. Remember MODELS ARE HERE WITH TYRA but they’re going to be sent to other companies and they ain’t gon be making u a pie every time u feel like u can’t do what they are PAYING U TO DO.
@@demaaarrr ewww
@@disisme8159 what your upper lip stinky ? 😂😂
@@demaaarrr So by that logic if I was working in a factory that had unsafe working conditions (machines that weren't safety regulated, no breaks, overcrowding etc) all I could do is just grin and bare it because I'm getting paid and THIS IS WHAT FACTORY WORK IS? And even if I may lose a body part using a machine that's fine because this is the unfortunate reality for some, and others have it even worse? We live in a world where we arguably have human rights and we should definitely be allowed to exercise them.
Also by law there are guidelines (I'm not sure what exactly you have in America, but in the UK we have the Workplace Regulations act) in place that would prohibit these sorts of activities and working conditions that endanger workers.
Furthermore that girl was probably scared to say anything because she's been bullied by Tyra and the whole ANTM team into silence.
This girl was hired to compete in MODELLING, not to see who can get hypothermia last.
@@demaaarrr lmao so you also jump to conclusions hahah. Na mate your way of thinking is stinky bro. To educate yourself and then talk to me.
She’s giving them corrections while their ears are underwater...
You can hear through water
I feel bad for the girls :(
Also, you mentioned how they roasted Eugenia, and I remember them always telling her that her eyes looked dead, though her eyes are gorgeous - overall, my impression was that it was a critique they gave to girls with dark eyes, but that might just be me...
EDIT: Also, IIRC, Caridee had put off modeling because she had psoriasis (which they knew), and they put her in a pool, which, assuming it's a normal pool has chloride which is bad for psoriasis and might irritate her skin - it's not nearly as bad as giving her hyperthermia, but it's still irresponsible and a bit shady
They'll always tell that to black models, unless they had some green/light brown eyes.
I remember my mom always saying how Tyra would purposely cut dark skinned women’s hair from the show or give them makeovers that dulled their shine. I didn’t see it before as a kid but I definitely see it now. Tyra did some sabotaging and hurt these girls for ratings. I don’t know why she’d purposely do what the modeling industry did to her to them but she was super toxic.
In Eugena’s chat with Oliver Twixt, she said something along the lines of Caridee’s psoriasis medication making her even more susceptible to hypothermia.
@@bestmermaidI mean you prolly know all this but Tyra has had a life-long grudge against Naomi Campbell, an iconic dark skinned supermodel. A lot of the women who’ve been on antm with darker complexions have reported unwarranted hostility from big T and many fans and industry pros speculate it could be discrimination born from her hatred for Naomi. No one can really know for sure but we can be certain the patriarchy had his grubby hands all over it.
Antm never treated the models as human. They're not allowed to have fears, wants, needs, etc. Even their bodies are not their own, fully on display in the makeover episodes when a girl doesn't want the makeover. Or when they had girls close or open their teeth gaps, or when they tell the models to gain or lose weight or they'll never get booked. A lot of body shaming and gaslighting going on
I just CAN’T anymore! That Show is so damn abusive. They really are narcissists who gaslight, deny, blame and torture others with their fake personas. How come RUclipsrs have to apologise for almost everything and need to learn and be aware of issues and address mistakes and those narcissistic sadists are blaming someone who is afraid of telling the truth because she gets major problems if she does??? My stomach hurts - wish they should be arrested for that kind of behaviour! At least they should pay EVERY girl who was on that show EVER and got treated bad personal injury compensation!
The way Tyra was being shady by saying “you went above and beyond” to Amanda. Just wow , its crazy how someone can say that knowingly of the other model getting hypothermia.
Tyra is so sadistic. She sees them shivering and suffering and she’s smiling hella big all proud of herself
Tyra has the same mentally as an abusive parent. "If I had to go through this, then my kids can do it too"
Just because they went through something doesn't mean others have to suffer the same. She has the knowledge and experience to make things easier for them, but chooses not to because of the lack of empathy towards them.
Tyra keeps mentioning a snow shoot: she had season 6 do one, episode 2. They wore bikinis in a freezer posing on blocks of ice. The girls pulled it out but I’m shocked more of them didn’t get seriously injured or sick.
Or Britain's Next Top Models top 7 nude photoshoot with water bottles in the snow.
I remember an episode where the girls were holding ice cream in their hands and someone’s fingers went white?
Scandal: The model are now having problems with bad case of hemorrhoid.
I mean , it’s not that hard to put a cushion and hide it...?
They also posed in bathing suits the first cycle in the dead of winter in New York. Apparently, this is the norm from what Tyra was telling them.
I'm increasingly convinced that this show existed entirely for Tyra to torture people
I absolutely love that you do these videos. Your commentary is very informative, empathetic, and hilarious. When I was younger, I didn't grasp the severity of these photoshoots and how Tyra is so inconsiderate and narcissistic. So is Jay. This, among several other episodes pissed me off immensely. I can't believe I thought Tyra was a hero when I was younger smh.
Now imagine if those two girls who hated each other hugged just so they can feel warmer.
They pretty much were and they chose to lie down beside each other after...
ANTM needs to be Cancelled. you aim to become model but the show put you to navy training.
Agreed!
Its been cancelled for years I think
@@sallyharrison3402 the last cycle was in 2018
@@olamidelajuwomi Right, no way ANTM is coming back after what a lot of the fans found out about the show behind the scenes. If there were to be a cycle 25, it would only be for models that wanted a taste of reality TV.
It has been cancelled.
Im loving this antm react series
Me too!
Ikr its my fav!!
@ThePandoricaOfFandoms every time she uploads one i click so fast

:D
Model: “ it’s really cold”
Model: “I’m freezing”
Model: at the point of hypothermia “ can I take a little break”
Tyra: “ this is all your fault you should have told us”
Model:” ok”
Tyra: “now get back in the water”
The photographer actually looked really concerned. He was like "yes, absolutely. we can take a break."
I noticed that too
Jay complaining about her getting hypothermia, you shouldn’t put them in a situation where they even have that risk....
He has no control on this show
"It's real modeling". Uh, no. This is how Tyra see the world of modeling from her perspective. The entire show was basically a caricature of Tyra's modeling experience. That's why nobody takes it seriously. She just took a piss on the industry because they didn't give her the attention that she craved.
Being in cold water is faaar colder than snow
Snow holds air pockets in it which traps heat. Water does not.
@@nomousecat its about surface area. Surface area of a liquid (water) is greater than the surface area of snow. You get colder faster since you have greater skin-to-skin exposure to it as the water works to morph around the shape of your body. As for "water trapping heat"....that simply speaks to the fact that water has a greater PROPENSITY to hold heat, as it's a physical quality of water. But simply stating a physical property of water does not reflect what's happening in this situation. Ice water is ice water and clearly the temperature of this water is below what the human body can handle, so you see them going into shock faster.
This is why I can walk barefoot in montana winters and be alright but can’t go in the rivers in April
Farah Ali well its thermodynamics not just surface exposure. You can put your hand in a 200*C oven and be uncomfortable but you’d never even think about putting it in boiling water, despite it being “just” 100*C
I remember watching this episode when it came out and I was like “she told you how many times she was cold and you’re literally ignoring her and blaming HER for not telling you?!”
They wondered why carrie d didn’t say anything (cut to every clip of the girls getting ripped apart for saying something, Danielle left the hospital with IV’s in her arm and was praised for making the photo shoot) SOOO messed up
You know, Jay Manuel tries to make it seem as though it was all Tyra’s fault, but I see him being just as bad if not worse!
Also Jay is the one who mishandled the situation with the lesbian model that was sexually assaulted at age 11, who was scared of the idea of being intimate with a guy for a shoot.
She tells him she would turn down the shoot if it is real life and that the idea of kissing a guy for the shoot is giving her what sounded like PTSD flashbacks.
She even brought up that she had never told anyone before, so Jay reaction is the first one she has ever dealt with concerning her trauma.
And he used the fact that she'd turn down shoots as justification to go on a rant about you can't let that happen, you can't let this control your life, insinuating that the shoot would help despite the fact that she was scared of doing it. Scared, not only uncomfortable or nervous, but having flashbacks and being scared.
I don't think I need to explain how messed up that thinking is, especially in the context of the rest of the show and how it treats people.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I am sure when Tyra was on a photo shoot, where it was freezing, especially from Sports Illustrated, she was treated way better, than these women.
And she was paid $$$
Kate Upton almost died for sports illustrated.
@@damaskito wait what
I feel like tyra was being abused during her modeling career and she’s punishing them
Its just reality tv. Not everyone is in it for the modelling. Its like real housewives juice. But this show was eons ago. Same show 2020 probably is very different. Like tyra getting rejected for a non conventional figure or being black in the past is celebrated present day.
I used to binge watch this show when i was younger. Watching it again made me realize these people were unnecessarily brutal to the girls, bullying them and treating them like they were disposable “because it’s fashion”.
There are so many nasty people like that working in the fashion industry, stylists especially since they do the least amount but want to feel important
I love Jessica's personality everything she says I felt... She's such a considerate soul and I really like that about her.... Never change Jessica and your so beautiful
That's it, You need to make your OWN modeling show. Make a youtube series. Recruit models do it in the same style, Just raise everyone up and actually help the girls/guys. After all these videos I know I'd want you as my couch.
Tyra, when the model is about to die: "you gotta say something"
Tyra, when the model says something: "so you don't wanna win?"
Why did it take me so long to realize how horrible this show and Tyra was to the models? Bruhhhh 🤦🏾♀️
Because Tyra was a famous model and we assumed she knew what she was talking about and most the models were 18-20 and weren't aware that what they were going through was wrong. Everytime something toxic/dangerous happened the first thing Tyra did was make up a story about her modeling days.
I feel like she was good at manipulating the viewers into thinking all of these things were okay too
I subconsciously realized it was terrible when my mom who only watched this garbage at the time told 10 year old me I couldn't be a model (because a lot of people were talking about my appearance at the time and either asking me to play basketball or asking me to become a model - but now that I grew up I look more short and plump)
Saw this every Saturday when I was younger and loved the show, now I am just disgusted
I used to love the show but I never critically thought about what it was promoting and how they treated the girls! I can't look at it the same anymore!
Natalie Taylor has an entire video about the time she did a shoot in freezing cold water. She had to stop very quickly and was hypothermic her entire way home and expressly said that it was a bad idea. This is just dangerous.
we all know that if any of the models did vocalize that they were at their limit then they would've just been shamed for it.
.-. Why does the pool have to be freezing
“Down to the last 4 girls” producers: we gotta knock one of the girls out
Literally.
production really said, "Yeah, let's kill the girls for our next shoot"
The reason CariDee reacted so badly to the cold water was that she was on medication for her psoriasis, which the show knew about.
Tyra is the one who chooses their photos.
Also, what are they supposed to be modeling in these shoots? Cause those heavy dresses look terrible in the water. You can't even see what they look like.
oh my GOD!!! I cannot believe they put her in this situation KNOWING THAT!!
Eugena even confirmed that from an interview with Oliver TwiXt.
I was looking for this comment!!
Waterproof makeup
@@saratrejo6658 They're wearing mascara?? I didn't even remember that...
ANTM, Jay, and Tyra were SO lucky that CariDee was able to walk to the edge of the pool and try to get out. She COULDN'T actually get out because her muscles were spasming so hard so they had to literally pull her out. All I can say is, one big spasm, her doing under the water and inhaling water, and they end up with a downing victim in their hands through Reckless Endangerment. They were very fortunate.
I appreciate you so much for these reaction videos. I used to watch the odd episode and a few years ago (more than 5 years, less than 10) made an effort to watch a couple of full seasons. It's amazing that I never realised how abusive it was, I just thought it was interesting and fun.
Your commentary has really opened my eyes to it! I knew some voiceovers were dubbed in by Tyra because you can tell it's not in the same room (totally different reverberation of the sound), but I didn't know that the original words she spoke on camera could be radically different, nor was I wise to the manipulation that was going on.
Your voice as a professional photographer helps me to see how much of what they did was unnecessarily cruel, and how uncomfortably obvious it is that this was never 100% about good pictures, nor training models.
The comments from others are also really helpful because they've helped me find interviews where the girls talk about what it's really like.
"I never saw one frame where you looked cold"
Translation: You did an amazing job. You looked comfortable in freezing water, but we're going to send you home because you're a liability and needed a break.
So they need to know their limits, but in that one photoshoot with bees when the model said she was allergic no one cared? I mean ok...
Their limits do not matter at all. What matters is that there's always a way to blame the models and not tyra or the producers
It’s like she wants to kill her models
As someone who grew up with this show then became a model in the mid 2000's I feel like the lessons it taught me were more harmful than helpful. I felt like I had to put up with and accept a lot more than I should have. From people doing things that destroyed my hair for years. to expecting me to do things that were physically uncomfortable. I always did it because I thought a models job was to do what was asked of them no matter what. I was afarid I would lose my job if I ever said no. Ofcourse I learned but man, it would have saved me a lot of grief if I didn't have a warped idea of duty.
This has actually happened to me. I was put in freezing water in February in Dallas. It was extraordinarily painful, and I believe it caused further problems for me. The photographer had a wet suit. I was wrapped in one layer of thin fabric. Your entire body starts to burn. This is so wrong.
*EDIT: I work with underwater photography as a designer and makeup artist. I do not put my models in these situations. I am in the water with them the entire time to monitor the water temperature and to make sure they don't become tangled in the clothing.
Why not just shoot in warm water, like why even go through all that for a stupid photograph
Tyra is honestly awful.
"Hey this water is freezing I'm not okay"
Tyra: keep shooting!
*gets hypothermia*
Tyra: WhY dIdN't YoU tElL mE
Tyra is an evil woman. She seems to love when people are suffering. She's mean and she's a bully. I can't believe I watched this show as a teenager. Thankful that I never had any image issues. Thank God for my Mother and Father...They always told me I was pretty, talented, intelligent and friendly. I can't imagine what this foolishness brought to insecure teen girls over the years. Thanks for these videos.
model: its freezing cold
staff: ok so
model: literally dies
staff: WTF yOu sHoULd hAvE tOLd uS??????
She literally told them that she was freezing and asked for a break, but she said nothing. 😂🤣
Damn they’re hypocritical! Telling the models “you need to learn to say no and know your limits” when we all know damn well if she had spoken up she would’ve been ridiculed and mocked for not being able to handle something that they’d claim “all models have to do in the real world”. This show is terrible. But I’m really enjoying these videos.
The fact that everyone else on set is in short sleeves shorts and the girls warmed up by lying on the ground in the sun means the water was only that cold because they purposefully made it that cold. Where I live there are swimming pools and natural springs everywhere and the only time the water has ever been so cold that we stay shivering in and out was in the winter or if the pools were set to be cold for whatever reason. They made the water freezing like that on purpose to make it extra difficult when there was no reason other than to potentially harm them while making the girls seem like if they had a bad shoot it was their fault.
You’re literally so sweet. I love your huge open heart! You must be an earth sign or a water sign.
